to anyone listening to this in nowadays: bless your soul, you must have taste
Love 60s through 80s some 90s
I have some taste, and that’s an understatement
I don’t mind the 50’s all the way to 2016. There is only so much good songs 2017-2021 i like, but it’s a bit stale lately.
@@reconghostgaming3213 Thank You?
Yeah, I have taste. 80s music is awesome because it doesn’t say any bad words
I am 75. When I hear their songs I will never grow old. They help my mental state and my heart to hear them!
Songs and music is nourishment for the mind, body and soul. Notice how happy you feel dancing? 1 of the reasons of course is your angels laughing at how silly you look with the movements, like how we laugh at babies dancing for the sometimes unco-ordinated movements (^ _ _ ^ )
I'm 41.....hey hallelujah..... hope you continue for a good long time... praying to be able to be in ur shoe's one day great music I inherited from my mom now I pass songs like this to my 5 year old little girl she loves it
Dave Matthews... does a great version
I feel the same fam, listening to songs I thought long forgotten it always brings a spark of life and joy when I hear em!
Don’t aspirate on your saliva. We’re praying for you. Turn your head and cough. Eat your prune juice shakes.
The drop of the glass through the side “table” at 1:57 gets me every time.

I am 62 and I love Paul Simon, He is like a poet. His songs tell a story. I just love his music.
When my dad used to “be in charge” on Saturdays while my mum worked, instead of making the beds as we were supposed to, he would blast this song and we would bounce THE LIFE out of the bed before making it. One of my most treasured memories.
He passed July 2021.
My heart sings when I hear this. I miss you Dad. My wounded warrior 🍀☘️💪🏼❤️☀️
Sounds like an amazing thing to have had, RIP to your, and my father, take care! =)
Such beautiful way you ended your comment! Hope that memory keep on bringing you joy like those warm sheets at cold nights :)
My God you made me cry , beautiful moments
God bless your dad, what a great memory!
I'm very sorry for your loss.
My Dad's name was Al. He loved this song. Even after he got dementia, he'd still tell people that they could call him Al. This song means a lot to me.
Amazing what we can retain even with dementia. Great story. Sorry abt your dad but it sounds like he had happy memories.
@@arribaficationwineho32 Thank you for the kind words.
@@montesace my husband had it and has died. He was very happy in his dementia….kind, appreciative and knew family until he died or acted like he did. I love when music connects us to good memories.
@arribaficationwineho32 It was a long, hard road, unfortunately for my Dad. I had to become his guardian. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's, and that turned into dementia. He was a beautiful man and didn't deserve the suffering he had to endure. It is the little things that mean so much after losing someone dear to us . Thank you for sharing. It's nice that after all this time, this song still means so much to so many.
@@montesace thank you for the response. I am glad you shared music with him and so glad he had you.
I love how Paul finally cracks a smile at 4:20. He seems to try to hide it.

Chase is just one of the best naturally funny comedians. The guy can say anything and look and sound funny.
Still rocking this awesome in 2024.
Poor Paul...
He's one of the few guys in music who truly has a Wonderful Sense of Humor and the ability to laugh at himself.
Class Never Goes Out of Style...
Favorite bit: at about 4:19 Chevy shoves the bell of that trumpet right in Paul's face and just for a second, Paul breaks character.
Apparently, Chevy was just not quite tall enough! (But he's still plenty tall.)
Thanks! I was wondering if that was Chevy Chase!
He really did. Brilliant! XD
Have watched this so many times and never noticed that.
That’s my favorite part too!
At 4:18 Paul Simon can’t help but smile when Chevy Chase shoves the trumpet right in his face. I love their chemistry and humor so much. this video and song are amazing.
That little smile seals the deal!!!
And then Chevy Chase has to do a spin to keep his face away from the camera because he, too, is laughing.
"Graceland" was Paul's masterpiece. Every track on it (especially this one) is brilliant!

Made me cry
The video made me laugh in the first few seconds, first the entry into the room then Paul Simon was just about to sing and Chevy Chase "interjects" and takes over. Paul just providing the back up vocals and twiddling his thumbs from then on. His facial expressions throughout the video were priceless.

Today three years ago my grandma died. Now I am watching this and candle in remembrance. She loved Paul Simon so much. I miss you Grandma.❤
I haven’t seen this for years. What a brilliant idea getting Chevy Chase to appear in it. Such a comic relief when Paul Simon is normally such a serious guy!
I first saw this video on television at my grandmother's house sometime in the late 80s with my parents. We all laughed a lot at it. Now it's thirty-five years later and my grandmother isn't around anymore and my parents are elderly and I'm not so young myself and it still brings a smile to my face.

LindaBkrWms Have you ever done that knee-dancing thing? My cousin and I went to my brother's wedding. We were not welcome. So we decided to just have fun and not care. We went out on the dance floor - two women - and danced and danced and I am one lousy dancer so we did that knee dancing and just goofed around. It was a blast.

At least we don't have to be worried about being murdered or beat up for being a reporter, like in some ex -Soviet countries.
This song reminds me of a time when my children were young, life was just getting to the good part, and I was in the prime of my life. Now my sons are to that part of their life, it went by so fast. They’re young men with college degrees now, they have careers, are falling in love now, and they live on their own. Some days the house just feels too quiet and empty, and my aches and pains won’t let me sleep. I needed to hear this song today.
God bless all.

Love the melody but the lyrics are just insane gibberish
You cannot judge your life on what you did for your children.

Still one of my favorite songs and videos. It brings me a smile even when I’m sad.
Always loved this song. The bass line is absolutely phenomenal!
Paul Simon is not a guy who you usually think of as having a sense of humor, but he is subtly hilarious here. He starts to sing "A man walks down - " but then realizes, to his mild surprise, that he's not the one supposed to be singing. He twiddles his thumbs. When Chevy is "singing" the na-na-na part, the look on Paul's face says he really wants to be singing but he knows he's not supposed to. Great song, and an incredibly fun simple video.
One of my earliest memories of my childhood...my mom LOVED this song🥰🥰🥰

Chevy Chase has always been an amazing actor and comedian. I miss the days when greats like him graced the big screen.
I completely agree. All of his mannerisms and movements in the video are so funny.
You're such a good artist, Paul Simon, and you have partnered with some greats! God bless you.
Almost 40 years later and i still remember the lyrics even after years of not hearing it. It all comes back within the first couple beats

This is one of those songs that was just so much part of the '80s. Someone that wasn't alive then just would never understand the memories and nostalgia that comes flowing back when this song plays. No wonder we all miss the '80s so much. It wasn't perfect but it was so much better than this garbage mess today. I used to think the future would be so amazing but man I was so wrong.
I just love the subtle humor in this one.
