  • The Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard tells how different "workers" joined up at different times of the "day". Fr. Bill preaches how some are born Catholic, while many become Catholic as Converts at different times of their lives, from childhood to the death bed. Who are some of the more famous people who we may or may not know, have converted to Catholicism. Some of them might surprise you.

Great homily, Father Bill! I converted to Catholicism on Easter, 2017. It's true in a lot of cases that converts know more about Catholicism than cradle Catholics do. In my case, which probably isn't unusual, I wanted to learn everything I could in order to experience the Eucharist. Sadly, I did not hear angels singing, nor did I have a bright white light shine down on me when I received the Eucharist for the first time. 🤣 It was, however, one of the greatest things I have ever accomplished. I'm still a sponge when it comes to all things Catholic. I teach my cradle Catholic friend, who sponsored me, things about the Catholic faith. He and his wife have told me numerous times that I am going to become a priest. I think I've had an anxiety attack every time they have said that. 😅 I think I'm a little too old for that at this point.
May God continue to bless you, Father Bill!
    Vivat Jesus!

Like a rose among thorns, this is just a beautiful, creative and contemporaneous homily in the English-speaking arena. 🙏😇🙏

Thank you, father, for your great sermon.
We converts are in good company. In my community in germany are a lot of converts. I often ask faithful if they would have been raised catholic. And I'm often surprised at how many are converted. I am grateful that God led me to His church. The Catholic Church has sound doctrine, and sometimes it takes a long time to heal from being raised in other denominations.

Couldn’t agree with you more, Father, both as a cradle Catholic (a revert, actually) and as a retired English teacher. Converts often show a depth of understanding and holiness that leaves that of far too many cradle Catholics in the dust. Similarly, many of the students I taught who grew up speaking other languages had a mastery of English that put the writing and speaking of native speakers to shame.

Fr. Bill! Where did you ‘just get to?’ I’m a cradle Catholic and I knew just what you meant. Converts can be sooo annoying, in a good way. They do keep us on our toes though. :)

Johann Sebastian Bach became Catholic. Gilbert Keith Chesterton better known as G.K. Chesterton is hardly known or celebrated in his native country England, but is recognised in America.

Why do you call RCIA ..OCIA? Here in South Africa it's still called RCIA.

Yeah, the alphabet soup keeps changing out here and it's hard to keep track of it all. Probably from some people who have nothing better to do than keep trying to justify their jobs. I prefer RCIA myself. Stay strong (LOL!)
