...Yeah... I was hoping the title would be slightly less misleading. I think I'd be a lot more interested in somehow pulling off a real (well, real but not malicious) virus as a "game" than I'd be in yet-another-meta-game.
I still might watch this at some point because I like hearing people's gamejam stories, but I'm not interested enough right now
I'd like to imagine antiviruses actually being gnomes inside pcs that deal with giant robotic virus looking enemies

It's be more interesting, if the "viruses" were the real antivirus, and Dave was the virus. I'd love to see a HEXAGE-styled game ending screen where Dave says something like "Thank you for letting me destroy your PC".

I think it’s kind of funny the desktop has a beautiful photo labelled wallpaper despite the background being a void
a login screen would've been so perfect for a game like this. i remember having some windows 7 computer or whatever and it had that flower wallpaper. it would've been a perfect place to make a username and also have their password be used in virus speech

OH SH*T, I remember your game!! I was also a competitor for the PirateSoftware game jam! Our game was Green Top, don't know if you ever saw it while checking random. Great stuff, keep it up! :D
Words cannot express the level of anxiety and rage the shooting enemies have put me through, and I began to hate the page itself for making me select the game screen if I clicked too fast or having buttons that overlap the screen with either no or a hidden full-screen option... but cool game and concept. I did like making D.A.V.E. angry by selecting the wrong options, nice touch, and I ended up hearing every failure dialogue since I died so many times. Maybe it's actually not that hard and I'm just bad at that style of game. But all those times a storm of bullets were sent at me from seemingly nowhere... yeah, this was the first game in a very long time I've rage quit. Wish I could've seen the ending...
If you remember where the enemy spawners are, you can shoot them while they're off-screen. Even if you don't remember exactly where they are, you can tell when you're hitting them because the screen shakes and sometimes makes noise. If you're far enough away, they won't spawn enemies. Continue to do this until you hear the sound that indicates the enemy spawner has died. You can tell when all of the cores in a room are gone because DAVE will start talking again. The game goes from a game of fast dodging skill into a slower game of patience. Whether you believe it or not, I think the only time it doesn't work is in the fight at the very beginning of the level, because you start the game portion too close to them already, but those enemies don't shoot.

I love the idea of every file being clickable. If I would make this I would’ve made it a puzzle/stress management game where you had to look in different files for passwords and text and stuff to fend off the virus.

Game would be 10x better if it actually gave you a non- dangerous virus that could just do things that are ever so slightly annoying and easy to get rid of
It's a funny idea but there are so many reasons it would be a terrible idea to implement. Anything that acts like an actual virus at all is going to get detected by actual AV, and then removed from the game jam. Plus it's way too easy for a "non-dangerous" virus to actually break something.

This blew me away with how cool yet simple it was. I was loving the development story along with the actually interesting gameplay concept. It's such an overused cliche, but it works so well. Bravo
The effort you put into the start and the menu is inspiring, it made me feel good about spending time on it myself. Awesome video :)
I like it how Dave reacts when I don’t let him destroy the virus
I played this for the first time and i have one comment, in the boss fight, by aligning yourself half decently where the boss is off screen, but when shot you can see the sparks, you can weaken it without any enimies attacking. This was a really good game. thank you.

I thought the video and game were pretty neat. Id say, after knowing all the work you put into the screens actually showing art and being clickable though, there was not a lot of time to play around on the desktop before the virus took over. I expected that to be more subtle and not such a sudden takeover. Also I spent way too long watching the end scene thinking eventually it would end lol. All in all very impressive work!
The game was a lot of fun to play, but I discovered that in the boss fight, I could shoot one of the orbital squares, position myself right up against the core, and shoot it constantly while letting the remaining orbital squares deflect most of the red projectiles.
Nice video, and good job on all the cutscenes, they really sold the game

I genuinely want the desktop style as a style I could actually use for my own computer
needed friendly "computer bits" that the enemies attack as well and also take damage from your bullets and generally get destroyed in the chaos of fighting the virus, then needed a scoreboard with a timer for how fast the virus was stopped but also how much damage the computer received

The Lost Opportunity To Make A Game Jam Game On Spreading Jam.
I'm *never* gonna trust an AI named DAVE, I learned THAT lesson a while back!
Plot twist ending: The AI reveals its an “IRL” AI and you were piloting a real drone killing real people and the AI tricked you to prove that humans were bad people that needed exterminating. Gives real chills and makes you second guess if that’s actually what’s happening
