Made my first attempt at doing the Tech Art Carbon on my WRX trunk spoiler. Everything but the ends turned out good. I am going to take it off and redo... watched this vid 3 times now. Hopefully second time is a charm
Hello, Christian! Excellent work as always! A little tip: when you have to work a lot with a heat gun - it is convenient to clamp the heat gun between the legs (the nozzle should be directed backwards). This will allow you to lean less towards the floor and save your strength and time 👌
There's always some hater disliking why the fuk dont they go troll someone else if they dont like your techniques! I've tried your technique and its helped me greatly 👍🏻
I'm wrapping the rear spoiler on my new Kia Niro EV in carbon fiber wrap. It is like a duckbill spoiler x3 in it's complexity. I thought it would be easier to wrap with it off the car since I can get to the under side easier. Hell no. The amount of stretching needed to make it work in one piece requires it to be fixed solidly in place. Needlessly to say, the first time wrapping it ended up with all kinds of wrinkles on the underside that I could not flatten out. Tore it off and starting over tonight with the spoiler attached to the car this time. Need to get that rounded over edge on first, then stretch it like a sock over the ends. Probably should have chosen an easier shape to do for my first time, but that's just how it goes sometimes.
I really hope you get the opportunity to tackle a Chevy SS/VF Commodore duckbill tail. They are almost cresent shaped and have an insane recess on the backside where it meets the boot, I tried 3 times before I gave up and painted mine instead so I'd love to see how you would do it.
I need to find a video of someone wrapping the corners of a lip spoiler in a closeup, i'm having trouble getting rid of all the wrinkles as you wrap around the corners.
I assume this will work just the same for the oem? I don't want to spend on a new duck bill, i like the oem. Just that the cheap Subaru paint job is fading so i want to wrap it.
Hi, I like your videos. I plan on doing my Calipers and side mirrors in the spring. I have a question, I watched your video for a one piece wrap for duck type spoiler. I have 2017 Mustang Gt with a 70's era huge duck tail spoiler. Way bigger than the nissan you wrapped in grey. I'm wondering if mine can be done in one peice? I'd send you a pic if I could. Thanks for any advice.
If it doesn't still well why not just roll the film underneath an 1/8 inch then mount the wing so mounting keeps it safe and in place? Is that a bad thing to do?
CK Wraps this was also going to be my question, but i was thinking about treating it similar to how youve shown how to wrap a door handle, where you would unmount it and then heat the film and let it wrap itself around the corner. But i also see where the previous stretching might cause that to be problematic. Love the videos.
14:20 in this video, you can see that the car behind you to be wrapped in yellow, the whole side (front door, rear door, quarter panel, A pillar etc.) is wrapped in ONE piece vinyl. This seems different to your demonstration videos. Do you recommend one piece wrap like the yellow one, or wrap every panel one by one? BTW, Great Channel, I have been watching over 100+ videos. Thanks. Still finding a video to show how you wrap the roof with shark-fin antenna on.
@@CKWraps thanks for your prompt reply. So, do you suggest wrapping the side piece by piece or do it like the yellow one, with one big sheet covering both doors and quarter panel? Which way is better?
what i don't understand is this: you clean the work surface and try to get no dirt under the vinyl but still touch it with you fingers when lifting it up to get air out(not talking about the excess you trim afterwards but the). are there problems with wrap sticking in the long run? for example 6:02 also. sorry if it sounded like an attack but i'm generally curious as all wrappers i've seen did this.
either way if its not lifted like this and lifted from the excess at certain times such as at 6:02 the wrap has a chance of tearing when he heats it again
A little natural oil from your hands won't hurt the adhesive very much at all. Mainly you don't want dust, dirt or any of particles that will show through the wrap.
Super late to this video, but I hope someone still monitors the comments. Was the trunk already wrapped as one piece before the spoiler was installed? If so, how reliable is the adhesion with the spoiler trying to pull it off while you drive down the road? Edit: I see most of my question was answered below. But if the surface was prepped well before the wrap was applied, is there any concern with the wrap letting go under stress of the spoiler pulling away from the car (this is just a daily driver, will likely never see speeds north of 100mph).

Turned out worse the second time. ugh
CK I’m not into wraps but I have to tell you I really enjoy watching you work your magic as well as your running commentary.
Dude your vid. Deff helpped me out man. You have a good hussle and great work ethic
Thank you for all these videos man! My wrap game has really been elevated watching you and your work. Thank you so much!!
just wrapped my duck bill with no experience the other day, turned out okay but i wish i seen this video first damn

Thanks buddy, I always worry about burning my bum
Do not worry, my ass is still unharmed 🤣
Carbon Fiber wrap would be really interesting to see on a duck bill spoiler.

Rust wrapped the “spoiler” on my g37, this vid helped.
Can't thank you enough for all these tutorial vids

What about wrapping the entire trunk with the duckbill on as one piece? Would that make sense to do it, or would it be super challenging?

I got a g8 and im in the same boat. Fuck this

💯 did u ever find a solution? Having same issue 😕

why is that sound so therapeutic
Should I wrap the trunk first, then stick the spoiler, then wrap the spoiler? Concerned about the adhesion.
Can I install the trunk spoiler after the wrap?
Is it safe to stick it to a wrapped trunk?
Would recommend getting the wrap installed as good as possible and then removing it in order to primer and under warping the edges?
Nice work
Good stuff on tips and tricks.

I have a duckbill on my FRS, but it’s molded to the trunk so its one piece. Could it be wrapped in 1 piece?
What can you do to help a surface that does not stick well to vinyl wrap? For example, a un-painted spoiler.
What type of knife do you use to cut vinyl ?
Any installers as good as this guy in Sarasota Florida?
If it doesn't still well why not just roll the film underneath an 1/8 inch then mount the wing so mounting keeps it safe and in place? Is that a bad thing to do?
If I try to stretch the film around and underneath too far then I really risk over stretching

Got one question, when do you attach the spoiler? Do you attach it to the car(paint) itself or on top of the vinyl?
On top of the vinyl

You're right, I'm not wrapping that car though. Someone else in the shop is doing it.

@@samyliu in my personal experience the way the yellow vehicle is being wrapped is the incorrect / lesser way to wrap a vehicle.
@@CKWraps thanks very much
How long does it take you to wrap a car, on average, including all the prep work?
Really depends on the vehicle. It can be anywhere from 10-35+ hours

FlashTheEagle cuz if u have clean hands touching the film some will not effect the film at all.
yeah but there's still contamination beetween the surface and the film

i see thanks for the reply :) so wrapping outside would be disadvantageous.

3m primer?! UNSUBBED SO HARD!!!!111
Jk. I like how you're doing the entire car one part at a time and in separate videos.
i have a tip for you, paint it
Whats the point all The fun anf challenges goes away
Fingering.. Lol
