      I never use screen protectors. I’ve had a Galaxy s9+ since it’s release without a screen protector. And I have no scratches on it upon inspection. I don’t baby my phone by any means, and I carry it in my pocket by itself, no keys or anything else with it. Now if you have any intention of selling your phone every single time a new phone comes out and decide to sell, then sure go for the screen protector. But if you are one of the few who holds on to the phone until it’s no longer usable or damaged beyond measure from years and years of use, then a screen protector would be pretty useless. Idk maybe it’s just me, but that is my take on screen protectors.

      I once always use a tempered glass screen protector, until phones became "edgeless". I just thought it was incredibly necessary, to keep the phone safe from everything from scratches in my pocket to drops. Phones nowadays are strong enough to resist drops, especially with a case on, and they will get scratches, but not huge gashes like before, just small-barely noticable when the screen is off-micro scratches. Screen protectors are not seamless, and when phones now are basically all screen from edge-to edge, you are going to notice it. I don't use a screen protector anymore, but I do use a simple clear or fabric case. The first scratch will hurt, just because you like your phone as a perfect thing where everything about it is seamless. But once you get past it, you won't care about more scratches and can actually enjoy you phone to its full potential.

    I've never used a screen protector in my life and have never managed to get any scratches on my phone besides cracking a screen once from dropping it. But that was because I wasn't using a case, the screen protector wouldn't have helped it there. Yet every time I've bought a used phone it looks like it was strapped to the the grill of a Mad Max guzzoline tanker for the past 3 years. Like WTH guys. Don't treat your phone like an animal and it won't get scratched. Even keys in your pocket won't scratch the screen.

    @SimplyPops Hi I know you're busy but thought I would ask my question if you have time to answer. I got a new Moto G Play and I cannot tell if it has a screen protector on it already or not. Is it normal for the glass to stick up and not be touching the edges. It looks like a screen protector however those aren't usually put on for you when you buy a new phone. With all my other phones the glass was basically one solid piece with no spaces between the edge and the glass. This has raised glass you can even insert your fingernail in between the glass and the edges. Sorry to go on and on. I'm kind of scared to try to lift it off I just noticed a small chip on the edge of the inner glass. Anyway have you seen phone's like this? As I mentioned mine has always been one piece. Thanks.

  • @Sejuani89

    What causes micro scratches are not coins or keys.. its the dusts/sand! Glass only is only scratched by materials that are harder in the mohs scale.. And some dust minerals or sand is harder than glass in the mohs scale.. diamond is the hardest so it scratches pretty much everything, so if you have diamond ring, get a screen protector!

    Toothpaste....Lol ,,,You do know you must rub and agitate the toothpaste, you are actually sanding the surface ever so slightly. Used to use it on model windshields and watch crystals to remove scratches . Kinda like restoring a cars dulled headlamp cover.... It's not magically going to remove scratches just pasted on there even if you gave it 100 years

    • @claybirdyshaw5737
      @claybirdyshaw5737 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, that shit had me dying laughing. Dude put it on there and let it sit like it's working magic under the surface lol. Toothpaste is basically an extremely gentle polishing compound. The micro abrasives are doing the work when agitated. If you have deep scratches that can be felt toothpaste would never get rid of them. It may help removed some extremely fine shallow scratches, but even that is a stretch. Glass is notoriously difficult to polish and the glass on phones is specifically engineered to be even harder than normal glass. I would like to see someone test removing scratches from a phone with automotive glass polish and a rotary polisher though.

      Personally, micro scratches don’t really bother me at all in terms of user experience. I rocked my iPhone screen naked for 4 years, and while there are numerous micro scratches, they don’t really make the user experience worse aside for those with OCD. There was only 1 almost obvious scratch but overall using no screen protector gives the most enjoyable experience I have to say.

But I can’t afford zu buy a new one every time I drop my phone. I've never used a screen protector in the 8+ years I've had smartphones (2). Both have taken minor-moderate drops many many times with slim, Spigen cases. These drops never scratched or cracked the screens. The ONLY scratches I've gotten were on the 2nd phone, which was from having keys in the same pocket as my phone. These are extremely superficial, nearly impossible to feel or see without just the right lighting.
    Just got a new phone (my third), which is hands down the nicest piece of tech I've owned. I'm debating it, but honestly the screen protects themselves seem more distracting than the worst of scratches I've ever gotten.

      You could always go without one. I had a GalaxyS6, and I had no screen protector, no scratches at all. I had it from 2017_2020, and now I upgraded to the Galaxy S10+.It just depends how careful you are with your phone.

  • @damnfreakingsien
    @damnfreakingsien 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    The problem with screen protectors is that they either have shitty texture, or that they usually end up scratching more easily, which makes using the phone an unpleasant experience.
    I've taken off my screen protector from my iPhone X for 6 months, but I have no regrets. Sure, I get micro scratches, but it doesn't interfere with the texture when I touch it. When I turn on the screen, it doesn't matter anymore. Unless you cracked the screen or something. In which a case will do more justice than a screen protector.

    • @FOXeye95
      @FOXeye95 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the thing is, if you scratch your protector just switch. most come with 3x screens or 2x screens so for 10 bucks your saving your actual screen from scratches

    • @damnfreakingsien
      @damnfreakingsien 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@FOXeye95 That's true. But my main issue is how easily most screen protectors pick up scratches/getting chipped themselves. The lack of smoothness & obvious scratches often ends up hindering user experience.
      Sure, I can simply change the screen protector, but deciding when to change the protector before it becomes too scratched up is quite an annoyance. I'll be dying to get rid of that scratched up piece of plastic/glass but at the same time, I want to use it for longer.
      Sticking to the original glass provides an overall better user experience. Sure it picks up scratches, but with advances in materials technology, they are usually minor and you won't notice it on a day to day use. (Unless you end up breaking the screen LOL)

    • @FOXeye95
      @FOXeye95 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@damnfreakingsien easy scratches only happen when you use plastic screen protectors as they dent and scratch even with fingernails , glass doesn't , even with a gorilla glass 6+ I'd still use a screen protector , I'm waiting for mine as my screen is only glass 3 or 4

    What I dislike about the new screen protectors is that once your phone falls on the ground
    The screen protector will crack very easily

      @kamrankabir3956 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's exactly what they are for. If the protector won't break, the phone glass will take the impact and increase the chances of breaking (which is a much expensive problem than just getting a new protector).

    I'm done with screen protectors. They just make your phone look ugly. If you bought a new car you would want that paint job to shine right? I don't care about micro scratches because they only show in sunlight and it looks way better than a beat up screen protector. Enjoy that display the way it was intended and be careful.

    I bought a nice screen protector from Best Buy for my iPhone 14 Pro. Never even touched the phone before installing. It was perfectly clean. Installation went almost perfect… except for one hair right in the center of the screen. Completely unusable, $37 down the drain for nothing. And even the edges has slight bubbles.
    Unless they start selling factory installed protectors (which of course they never would, because they’d make less money on repairs and trade-ins), never again shall I use a screen protector. If I’m spending over $1000 on a phone, I want the absolute best user experience. I don’t care about micro scratches, they’re not even visible during use unless they’re more than a micro scratch. I guess I’ll just take a couple hundred dollar extra loss every couple years if I sell my phone and upgrade.
    I had a Samsung Galaxy S10 for over 3 years with no screen protector. No visible scratches (just micro scratches), no cracks, and I dropped my phone pretty often honestly. Plenty of face down hard floor drops, and even some on concrete. Hopefully the iPhone’s glass is as strong (probably not).
    But I’m going with screen protectors are a scam! Just like insurance 😂

    In my honest opinion a screen protector is a must for all smartphones because every single phone is a scratch magnet. I'm using gadgetshieldz screen protector which are edge to edge Screen protector they're far better than these tempered glass. Unlike tempered glass there's no bubbles and no yellowing.
