in this video i wanted to see how durable the tempered glass screen protectors actually are.... so thats what i did in this video. i dropped tested my own iPhone 12 Pro with a tempered glass screen protector installed!

Depends, my phone landed on the rock which hasn't flat surface, so case didn't help at all, case only helps for flat surfaces.
@@wiseman_4u I think that’s what damaged my phone screen the other day, I had the glass screen protector and an otter box case and slipped on ice while holding the phone and hit the the ground.
It cracked from the bottom corner but no damage to the case at all, so much have been from a rock.
I already had the phone fixed.
My iPhone 11 just cracked today, on the corner. Thankfully I have a tempered glass screen protector. It fell face down from a height of not even 3 feet

How do you know for a fact? Could have very well just been that the screen protector is a much thinner piece of glass than the screen.

I'm not an Apple user, but I'm here to see how much it actually takes to damage a phone with tempered glass on it. I just figured out that there's a teeny tiny lil crack on the side of my screen near the volume buttons, and upon closer inspection, I think it might just be a nick on the tempered glass, not the screen itself. It's not like I can peel the thing off to check, so I'm just hoping that's that haha this is my first actual smartphone bought with my actual savings so the thought of this breaking actually hurts me more than the sore spot on my lower abdomen where I belly flopped right on it when I fell during skating practice 🤣😅
i had my airpods and my iphone with a screen protector on it in the same pocket. It literally got cracked all the way around and a few long cracks from side to side

Well it’s good but in that rare case you take it off for 10 seconds and happen to drop it from a reasonable height it would take to crack an average phone, You’ll just end up with some scuffs on the side of the phone. Apple did an amazing job with the durability of the glass this time

Screen protectors are a pain in the ass to install because there is dust constantly falling even if you wipe it down and clean the screen it only takes one spec of dust to get in when installing the screen which ruins the installation. I wouldn't advise to reinstall it to get the spec of dust out because more dust will get in and the adhesive wont stick anymore. Phones are made out of pretty good glass today if you use common sense to not put your keys with your phone or things with it thats going to scratch it don't be careless you won't have any problems.

All are ususally quite cheaply made and not really good. But that is just the nature of the product. Anyone will do. Just keep in mind that if you buy a tempered glass protector that under display fingerprint scanners will most likely no longer work. There are glasses that are compatible with them, but they have a large visible and distracting circle where thescanner is on the display.

And my brand new phone dropped small stone from pocket while sitting chair and it cracked.didnt have screen protector.wonder if it could save it.

I am honestly super disappointed in the crystal series case.. I actually just got it for my 12 pro max yesterday to replace my apple silicon case. I love being able to see the back of my phone, but I had way higher hopes for the case. The sides don’t provide any grip and I’ve almost fumbled my phone a few times already. If you hold it by the sides and don’t have your pinky underneath, you can just feel the phone slip through your hands! Maybe that’s just because I came from a silicon case that had more grip, but just my thoughts so far.
@@colebukowski8485, I agree. I had his crystal clear and Rebel case for my 11 Pro Max and had concerns about the exposed sides. This year when I got my 12 Pro Max I ordered the Gen-2 as soon as it came out (crystal only) and immediately loved that the sides were protected. Then as I went to handle it, found it to be slippery on the sides.

dude I have had a micro scratch on my screen from keys in my pocket way back when with a galaxy s6 edge. You know the kind you can get when you have to turn the light the right way to even see it? Yeah... I was temped to just go get a new one..I told myself it was stupid and didn't... But my OCD is fucked... I wouldn't be cool with a edge scratch in to the stainless at all.... F that...Would have bought a new one that day...

Good screen protectors do work, but they're not a safe haven in which you can walk around smashing your phone.
Static drops. I had a phone with tempered glass fall from kitchen work top at speed. Screen protector badly damaged. Phone I was astounded was fine.
No way it would have survived without screen protector.
Other tip don't carry phone anywhere where its going to come into contact with metal objects or anything sharp as makes hole jagged and scrapes surface layer of tempered glass away making screen scratchy.
Not really, it only made you think that way. Phone nowadays already had protection. You only need screen protector for scratches.

If you were testing screen protectors why didn't you throw a thin case on it that doesn't have a raised lip? You could have shown the exact same results without damaging anything on your phone.

The only time my iPhone is completely naked is when in comes out of the box 📦 I always order cases and a screenprotector like right now my iPhone 12 Pro Max has finally arrived but my case is still not there so I won’t unbox it until my case and screenprotector arrive 😂
I wonder if putting camera protectors on would have prevented that camera glass crack. I've recently fitted a screen protector to my iPhone 15 Pro Max, first time I've ever used one. It did come with some camera protectors, but I skipped installing those as I don't want to put anything on that might affect the photo quality. Hopefully my case will protect the cameras, but as you say if you're unlucky that the phone falls on an uneven surface or bit of stone, nothing will prevent damage. Anyway I assume you are looking to replace that phone soon! Hope it was worth it.

Ikr, tempered glass is such a bullshit, it's okay if you used it for protection from scratch. But it doesn't actually protection your screen from crack. It only made you think that way when we saw our temperrd glass crack but not our screen, we thought that it protect our screen but that's not the case.
Why didn't you buy a cheap phone for $50 for this purpose?

This test is meaningless as there is no control test. The only way to test something is against a control which in this case would be another iphone without a screen protector. If the one without the protector breaks and the one with doesn't, then it's meaningful. Just because the iPhone screen didn't break in your tests doesn't mean it would have broken without the tempered glass. You are assuming it wouldn't but gorilla glass is getting stronger and stronger these days.
I got my iPhone 12 Pro Max since December and it does not have a single scratch. Just saying 😂
