    I grew up in a family with a stay at home mom & we always ate meals from scratch. Both of my parents are gone now but I am so very grateful for their efforts in raising us... they both grew up during the depression & never wasted anything...

    Made this for my family of 7...much better than my freestyled version. Toasting the oats before other ingredients made a world of difference!!! Thanks!

    One way to convert over to jars for storage but not have to pay extra for them is to reuse glass jars from other foods like pickles, olives, condiments, salad dressings or banana peppers! If you look in my jar cabinent you can see my different food phases. There are a few kimchi jars, some salad dressing jars, olive jars and pickle jars. And that is just about the sequence that they were my "obsessions."

      hearsthewater Great tip! I used to buy Classico brand jarred pasta sauce.....they have the best mason jars! Even with ounce marks?I believe blown into the glass. Think I have about 20, but not all the lids for some reason, so those make great drinking glasses 😂

    • @Jeannie__
      @Jeannie__ 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spud Yes, I agree! Classico does have the best jars. I believe I have 6 ☺.

    • @Keranu
      @Keranu 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I like to reuse those jars for non-food items. The problem with reusing condiment jars is that the rubber O-ring inside the lid is a pesky little odor absorber. Unfortunately, as cheap as I am and love reusing things, I can't quite get past the smell of those jars to trust storing new food in :(
      Kimchi jar though, holy hell. You got some guts.

    Other good add-ins are coconut, flax seed, wheat flour or wheat germ, pecans, etc. I like to add dried fruit when I eat it, like craisins sprinkled on top.

      Teresa Wilson Wheat germ is a good addition. Aside from what you've mentioned i also use sesame seeds. Plus, being Canadian, I often use maple syrup.

    Stacy you are the absolute shit! I came upon your video about the 50 dollar grocery budget and noticed we had almost the same exact contents yet I spend about 400/month on food. My debt is substantial but not as much as yours and I make slightly more than you do. I have virtually no disposable income and this was quite an eye opener for me on how to tweak things so I too can save! Thanks girl! You rock and I appreciate you!

Swapped honey for maple syrup. It’s baking in the oven right now! Can’t wait to try it! Thank you for the recipe! :)

    I tried this recipe and loved it! It came out really great, almost like a granola bar. It was a little too much honey for my taste, but I'll definitely do again. I've been making granola for years and never roasted oats prior to seasoning. Loved the texture. I also like a bit of salt to offset sweet so I added about 1/4 tsp pink salt. Thanks for sharing. Enjoying your channel. I'm a retired public school art teacher, and find your content very helpful living on a budget. God bless you, Stacy.

    I had been searching for granola recipes online and wanted something tasty without the added gazillion ingredients. I made this and every single person who has tried some loves it. I toased the oats and nuts using a slicone baking mat, which made the oats more chewy. Next time I'll just use the pan without the silicone mat. Thanks for this wonderful recipe!

    I just made this after watching the video. I've pretty much lost a box of oats from trying out granola recipes for it to not go well or taste horrible. THIS, is nice. And it made my kitchen smell like Christmas. I actually did half honey and half maple syrup, and I was careful on the cinnamon. I was just dipping my toe into it. But after tasting it.. I'm actually adding more maple syrup and cinnamon 😂 thank you! I now have a homemade granola breakfast
