No one is more qualified to write your book than you. You're the one who has the heart and soul of this book in your mind; you have the part of the story that's laced softly through the pages that you could never convey to someone else for them to write until *you write it.*

For the longest time I told people I was “trying to be” a writer. I had this notion that until I was traditionally published and wildly successful, I didn’t deserve the label. But one time after I posted about my writing on Facebook (and used that “trying” phrase), an artist friend messaged me and basically called me out for imposter syndrome. “If you write,” she told me, “you’re a writer.” It’s the simplest statement but I needed to hear it, and I think a lot of other people need to hear it too. So keep spreading the love ❤️
Also, I somehow haven’t heard the Gaiman speech so queuing that up now 👌

Kate and Abbie, you two sisters have the BEST SOLUTION to EVERY PROBLEM THE WRITER FACES!! During NaNoWriMo, most of the writers may have faced this. They keep doubting their writing, totally being unaware that someday it can turn into a MASTERPIECE! This podcast sparks the motivation to overcome the self-doubt and KEEP WRITING. THANK YOU KATE AND ABBIE!!
    Loads of love from India!

I have this struggle of never finishing things because I always have new ideas coming every day without trying very hard, so it catches my attention and sometimes I don’t even get through writing chapter one. That’s why I sometimes say to myself “you’re not a writer, writers finish things”

    • @hayleybrown1923

But I also know that I can’t give up writing because it is what I think about every second of everyday.

Every writer has unfinished stories at one time or another. Keep writing...THAT is what makes you a writer 🙏

Same. My mind tends to drift off and ends up creating stories on its own. Next thing you know, I’m procrastinating on writing my book by writing short stories. Then I wonder, why am I uninterested in my novel?

@@hayleybrown1923 This is totally unrelated, but only kind of, because I have the exact same issue! But, I’m intrigued- have you ever heard of the personality assessment called the Meyers Briggs Type Indicator. And if so, are you an ENFP or ENTP? I get that vibe from your comment and it’s kinda cool :))

Thanks Abbie and Katie for this podcast! I am always having this struggle. I have published 3 books, yet I can't manage to shake the feeling of a fraud whenever I received compliments about my writing. I feel that I don't deserved them.
But thanks you guys, I know now how to overcome it.

I occasionally struggled because my main passion for work isn't writing, and I saw all those videos from all kinds of people giving advice to "professional writers", thought it was for them and them only.
I struggled because they also talked about topics like "publishing", doing stuff "for an audience", editing and printing.
I didn't even know personal stories were a thing and I questioned myself why were I even continuing this.
It feels cool to make people see this story.
But I don't feel like it's my job, I have greater passions.
It's really an introspective journey but I came to the conclusion that I probably won't be publishing it, just making people see it, give it as I wish, but I wanna make it as I did publish the thing. Which means crafting it the best way possible. Cause I notice that is how I came to like it.
Firstly I didn't want to give up things that were there just for the "rule of cool" but after swallowing the pill and fixing them I realised how much better they were, I came to the point I looked at the mc and said: "did I write this?" in a good way.

I am happy that i am atleast doing an 8000 word short story with an interesting concept as my mid terms just got over today and it is almost half the month !! No time for 50000 !!

Literally looked in the mirror last night and thought, “Am I even cut out to be a writer? Maybe this isn’t for me.” (even though it’s been my passion for years). Stumbled upon this video today. Crazy 👏

This is great info, even though I'm just waiting for one of you to bring on Baldwin and start talking about Schwetty Balls now.
Actually, this really is refreshing because so many people just simply look at you differently if you want to self-publish anything through Amazon--especially if you have never had anything published through a publisher.

I'm revising the sequel to my debut novel, FRACTURED SERAPH. I hope to get ready for beta readers by the end of the month. So far, I'm at about 13k words for NaNo.
