Ok, who else is sufficiently shocked that the term “calendar blocking” was not mentioned once in this entire podcast? Lol I think I died.

thank you for all the good tips! i'm trying to balance my working schedule (4+4 ours a day, fixed) and my family time (usually during the week end), my excercise routine (at least 1 our a day) and time for the usual housecleaning and meal-prepping. so, i wake up at 6am every morning and try to go to sleep before 11pm. i have carved 3/4 sessions of writing per week, 2 hours each. is not much, i know, but i'm trying to make the most of it :)

Perfect timing! I just started an internship. I've been worried how I'm going to keep on writing. I've been waking up earlier than usual but I haven't had that much inspiration & motivation to write. Before, I haven't had a set schedule on when to write either. This is so helpful! Thank you!!!!

I've been listening to Abbie for what seems like a lifetime, and I came here today for the first time to listen to this joint podcast. To be honest, I expected great content, and I wasn't disappointed. My surprise came with how grounded and calming this made me feel, not only about my direction pertaining to writing, but about so many other entities in life as well. It's always energizing and inspiring in my eyes, when writing serves as a microcosm to our complete self. I probably do need to cut back on my social media time as a way to *make* time for writing, but this will not be one of those social media moments that gets cut out, you can be certain of that ;) Also, as an aside and observation about making time for writing, sometimes I think that a fear-based mentality (pertaining to our worth or hesitancies about producing "quality" work) often cloud our judgment about what's important or provide what feels like a justifiable rationalization to procrastinate until the "time is right". Alas, I realize this is ego-based foolishness that does the opposite of serving our creative soul, but I thought it worthy of sharing and being transparent in the case others are feeling the same thing. And can you tell I'm a writer as well, we can't possibly jot just a short comment down, can we? :)

Writing my book once or twice a week has always worked best for me, just because I'm fortunate enough to be a fast writer when I sit down. After six months, I'll have a rough draft. If I did write every day, I could probably write six books in a year or something crazy...but writing that fast doesn't seem necessary for me. Where I have to set the time aside is editing. Writing is no problem, but when it comes to editing I'm notorious for putting it off.

It’s always good to have a reminder that it’s not a good idea to compare your process, or free time to write to someone else’s.

I was really moved by your transparency at the end, Abbie! Having three kiddos not in school for summer, it's hard for me to get in the zone and focus on writing everyday. I definitely write in seasons and was very encouraged to hear you ladies share about that! Thank you!
