Thanks Stephen I really needed this advice. I am getting increasingly upset and disappointed with my Cousin and her husband. They are constantly criticising me now saying I am too thin now and no fun and I must at least come to the pub on his birthday as I never miss.
Fact is I don’t want to be in a pub surrounded by old drinking pals I only know from the pub and only have drinking as main common interest. Talking the same things over and over.
I have my life back now. Went on a nice walk this morning with a clear head. Please keep up the great work my friend 👍

When old mates who are still drinkers know I’m sober, their usual reaction is “oh, I don’t drink much”. They do but they feel uncomfortable that I don’t drink. They will then try to persuade me to “just have one, it won’t hurt!”

My old mates turned out not to be genuine mates, because they were jealous when stopped & deep down wished I failed.
I haven't bothered or associated with any of them since, yet I heard one has passed through his drinking, aged 52 & another is currently desperately fighting for his life...or so I've been told.
      Take it easy guys.
Same as you said Steve...hope you're well & sorry I've not been watching recently. Had a lot on.

Sadly most people don't appreciate just how hard giving up drinking is. I know I did it, it's not like giving up sugar in tea. To all those who have stepped back from the very edge be very proud.

Starting my own business was a key reason to stay sober. It did surprisingly well so I figured I’d give everything to have an edge and keep it going.
I’ve travelled since 20 always been good making money online and my mates in my what’s app group all respond to each other but when I send a message none of them reply. What’s that about? I never say anything about myself either, just join the jokes and get ignored.
Something weird there no? Because I’m different I’m not part of the group?
Just coz am not in Newcastle anymore? I don’t say a word about traveling coz nobody will care. Don’t even post pictures.
Doesn’t matter tho all that matters is I’m happy and my fiance.
Day 6 sober - not that bothered about drinking had a few realizations today after weeks of watching ur videos. Cheers

Hello! My two sisters never stopped drinking, my one other did. We ere called dry drunks by the family for reacting to their bad behavior. there were people in my family who wanted me to drink, because they could control me through my guilt, etc. Also, that you drank with will go away. but I ended up a home drinker anyway. but when you stop drinking, and are really committed to it,you won't want to hang around drinkers anyway. When you sober up you see how inane and insane people that drink are.

When I was drinking and addicted, there were those who enjoyed having me occupy that space in the world. When I got clean, there were those who despised me because I had made it back from the lions’ den: deep down, they are terrified that, given the same challenge, they would likely fail. They hate you for the failure they sense in themselves. 🙏🏻🌻🐢☯️
