  • In this lecture, I define personality from multiple angles, historical, constructivist, psychoanalytic, behavioral and neuropsychological. Personality is a way of looking at the world, and a characteristic mode of behaving. It's both stable and adaptively dynamic.

@@sdct27 It definitely is! Not just because of how learning will help you grow as a person and succeed in multiple aspects of your life, but because what you choose to do with your free time is priceless. It could be watching silly, pointless videos, hiking, art, whatever. I always tell everyone that their time is worth worlds more than being able to afford anything beyond the basic necessities, food, car, roof over your head. Everything else is all superficial and it will not be there in your last days, when all you have left is your memories. At the end of the day, living your life how you choose, so long as you aren't negatively impacting another's life, is the most important thing and should be valued above work. I encourage everyone to be a minimalist, unless they're making a killing doing what they love. It is far better to love what you do and have next to nothing than to hate what you do and have everything. Life is short, spend it how you want, doing what you want, wherever you want.

But now I think I would have been better at school then most people made me feel. I was just a scared kid. Really pay attention and mentor your children! Thank you Dr. Peterson. You changed my life.

Jordan something about your lectures just helps solidify knowledge into real life. Sometimes in the day I'll find myself thinking something like "oh he's just low on agreeableness, nothing to worry about".
Sometimes I sit and think a lot about statistics, why people are all so different, what it would be like to live life through someone else's consciousness, brain structure, hormone and personality. Really helps me wake up. Great job.

I've also noticed I learn things differently in a sense. I make some connections very fast and others very slow. The ones I make slowly, I think, are because I need more in dept info and understanding a bit beyond the layed out concept or maybe digging into the basics of said concept to understand that layed out concept. While others around me don't need that. And the teachers are a little baffled by my basic questions sometimes and don't see where my block is or what _more_ they need to say to help me get it.
But I've come to embrace the way I in some aspects learn and think differently, I think if I embrace it and cater to it it'll become usefull. It's my way of metabolizing knowledge, so why surpress it? So far it's pushe me to be braver to ask seemingly stupid questions, be more precise in my questions and also understand how others think better, so I can get what I need out of them and their knowledge.

The bit about how reading something repeatedly doesn't help much with memory recall and that how you do that is practice reading, closing the book, and then summarizing from memory. The way he articulate his ideas is sharply intelligent , it takes a golden intellect and a flexibility of neuro-processing of ideas words visions to reach this unique style of speech... what s intriguing is how easy he structure these brilliant talks that relate many fields of study matching synchronically psychology ... ''' JORDAN PETERSON is life changer ! ''

I wish my (recently completed) course on Games Development was as useful as this one on Personality. I feel like university has given me nothing (or not enough) now I am learning A LOT more on TH-cam which is actually valuable and interesting. Thanks JBP.
Also this hasn't to put me into another 50k student debt, which is nice.

Zirkzank Xyphrolenmir The fact that you can't just study in your free time then sign up to a university for just assessment, shows a massive flaw in universities. Why do you need to attend their lectures and tutorials if you can do it on you own and learn from books or online? Because it's all about money, and they wouldn't make much if people had the choice to self study and be assessed at a predetermined date.
They need to maintain the illusion that you have to have professors, administration and buildings in order to learn something.
