This whole presentation made me actually tear up. Not only does Forbidden West look somehow even MORE breathtakingly beautiful than Zero Dawn but it’s also has improvements to gameplay that I never would’ve thought this game needed but absolutely work! This is now my most anticipated game since Ghost of Tsushima and has motivated me somehow even more to get a PS5!!!
Which 4K video? I’ve watched both PlayStation and IGN videos on my 4K TV and the quality looked a little poor. It doesn’t look like true 4K. TH-cam probably butchered the quality a bit

We had years of tomb raider, prince of persia, assassin's creed, uncharted to teach players to spot handholds and ledges without any "yellow rope or tape" to tell them "CLIMB HERE". But I do agree. The focus highlighting and pointing out the handholds is a nice touch.
It leaked unfortunately it’s been confirmed that Erend dies early and in the end aloy finds a way to bring her “mother” out of a cryo sleep. Awesome stuff just sad that it leaked

I loved Zero Dawn and I’m sure I’ll love Forbidden West. I’m just tired of every game developer feeling the need to make almost every game open world.
When you guys were talking about Ghost and how you want Forbidden West to do that kind of quest structure I Iiterally facepalmed. The first game literally did that. They had the main objective, then side stories that were pretty substantial and fleshed out key characters in the world that had inclinations on the larger story. Hell, if you did all those side quests those characters would literally be there at the final city battle. The quests yall are thinking of was the side jobs, of which, Horizon had an incredible labeling system that let you filter what quests you were looking at in the menu. Horizon already had a ton great things in terms of quest and narrative structure. Seriously you guys sound like you haven't even played the first game, I get that ya'll are excited, but don't speak ignorantly lol.

The pinky in particular extends the length of the wing up until the tip. Its like a lizard with an oversized head and some really big hands. Thus, "flying finger"
Davis I agree though at points the voice acting was fine, but it just had bad facial animations like you mentioned. However I think it's much better here
Honestly I'm most excited about the UI update, the original Horizon UI was sooo busy 😵💫 Also, when was the last time a singularly focused state of play dropped a release date at the end of it? Doesn't seem like the m.o of Sony right now, I don't think it's a 'lack of confidence'.
There are some fallen trees that Aloy vaults over when the player just moves her forward in the forst gamre. But it is highly inconsistent and it was better to just jump over them manually. Another change is that ledges that look climbable are actually climbable in this game. Whereas in the first game ledges need to be either painted yellow or have yellow rope underneath to be climbable.
Good shout. The next iteration of GG's Decima Engine is clearly smashing it. Fingers crossed Kojima still has full access and involvement with them (and it). :-)
No need for dates, show me amazing gameplay and release when you are ready. Dates are pointless anyways since they basically slip all the times these days so complaining about them is just as pointless I spent almost 100 hrs in the first game so I’m so hype for the second one. Not only was the main story amazing but the side stuff and frozen wilds was so good in the first game.

She spends a lot of time thinking out loud especially during combat encounters in Zero Dawn. Also why are we shaming PS4 edition of this game.. to be honest this gameplay doesn’t look that different from Zero Dawn, just much tighter. I have about 230+ hours logged for the first game and with he exception of underwater and climbing elements this looks like a 1.5. Im guessing not many played DLC... The story is what I’m looking forward to being continued. If you haven’t played the first one... GO.. do it now.
They looked into adding flying mounts for Zero Dawn and couldn't due to the limitations of the PS4. I'm assuming the same will hold true for Forbidden West. The game design / gameplay limitations are real and won't be spelled out for us because the devs won't disclose areas where they needed to scale back. However, on the flip side, this thing started out on the PS4. So it is what is is.
I think this will get its release date around (or during) Sony's main E3 presentation (or whatever they're doing). If they don't release this year then it will be Q1 next but I genuinely think showing this much now suggests they're close to release. October seems like a good bet.
Classic blessing wrong about Horizon Zero Dawn’s side story. The story and the side quests were so good. Yet he said the first game was linear. To be fair to them, I played and platinuned HZD in about two weeks and I can’t remember a single side quest or much of the main story either. The only part that stood out to me was the reveal of what project Zero Dawn was. It all felt very vanilla, like it was very enjoyable to play at the time but I’ve never once had an urge to revisit the game for its writing/quest design.

Great reaction show as always but like others in the comment section below I couldn't resist the temptation to shake my head when it came to the discussion about main/side missions which made me question things in which Greg addressed Tim about which I appreciate listen I know Tim wasn't to fond of the first & Blessing picked the game back up during Christmas & enjoyed it may I say but it was pretty laughable how little they seemed to remember which to that point I can't vindicate them for cause of what they do with that said thanks for the content as always KFG crew.
The only significant negatives I saw were the really rough transitions between live and scripted scenes, and the full screen motion blur, which is typically used to hide frame pacing issues (especially when rotating the camera). The former should be fixed by release, but the later will likely stay that way in fidelity/graphics mode and might be removed (or even upgraded to per object) in the performance mode. Besides that, it looks fantastic and I'm really excited to play it.
This gives me a lot of uncharted vibes actually , the first game isn't clicking with me tho after just recently downloading it .. hopefully this story can grip me more
As far as i know, they already confirmed this game to be a 2021 game. Of course, you never know what happens down the road... we are still in a pandemic but they do say they are on track with the game. So i still think this game will be a 2021 game. My guess is around November or something? But it can be later as well i guess. A true holiday game.
I'm kind of with Tim, often the side quests and activities hinder an open world game from being great throughout as you feel like you should do them, but more often than not they are low quality and repetitive and don't add much to the story or world building. Spiderman being a perfect example, the app activities or those sound samples even, weren't fun at all imo, yet you find yourself doing them to fill out the checklist, level up or for trophies.
I know I’m being hopeful, but between PlayStation probably having a bigger State of Play for E3, and the game director at the end saying they will share more updates close to launch; it makes me believe they will launch this year. I could also see early 2022.
Hate that their first comment was what's the ps4 version going to look like. Visuals are not the be all end all of games. I hate that we're mere months into a next gen and already we have fidelity elitists that shit all over last gen games that still look and play great.

If they weren't going to give us a release date then I don't see a reason to have this state of play. Dying Light 2 had their big gameplay reveal and gave us a date, hopefully later the far cry 6 reveal will give us a date.

I feel if this wasn’t coming in 2021 why have a whole SoP now. I mean Sony could have had this during their e3 event with a 2022 release. I feel this was shown so at E3 we will get a release date. The PS5 had HFW, GoW, and the HP game all announced for this year. The HP game was delayed until 2022. Plus,with the WM/Discovery merger who knows what happens to the WBIE studios and their games now. GoW has been rumored to be delayed until 2022. So besides R&C the ps5 has nothing really for the fall. I think HFW will have a fall release. I think Sony is waiting to see what else has release dates at that time and go from there. Out of the 3 biggest sellers(Spider-Man, HZD, and GoW) HZD is the one that has the biggest gap between its last game and now. GoW would be maybe 2 years. As I remember Cory saying he was gonna take time off before working on anything after GoW was released. Spider-Man 2 isn’t coming any time soon. Right now R&C and HFW are gonna the ps5’s biggest titles this year.
I thought HZD was an overall middling but graphically impressive game. This looks like a huge step into actually satisfying exploration, traversal, and combat. I'm excited to play it.

The only significant negatives I saw were the really rough transitions between live and scripted scenes, and the full screen motion blur, which is typically used to hide frame pacing issues (especially when rotating the camera). The former should be fixed by release, but the later will likely stay that way in fidelity/graphics mode and might be removed (or even upgraded to per object) in the performance mode. Besides that, it looks fantastic and I'm really excited to play it.
This gives me a lot of uncharted vibes actually , the first game isn't clicking with me tho after just recently downloading it .. hopefully this story can grip me more

You can't play this if you didn't played the first and have no idea what is going. Horizon Forbidden West is the continuation of the first story.

As far as i know, they already confirmed this game to be a 2021 game. Of course, you never know what happens down the road... we are still in a pandemic but they do say they are on track with the game. So i still think this game will be a 2021 game. My guess is around November or something? But it can be later as well i guess. A true holiday game.
I'd still like to be able to find a PS5 to buy. /shrug
I'm kind of with Tim, often the side quests and activities hinder an open world game from being great throughout as you feel like you should do them, but more often than not they are low quality and repetitive and don't add much to the story or world building. Spiderman being a perfect example, the app activities or those sound samples even, weren't fun at all imo, yet you find yourself doing them to fill out the checklist, level up or for trophies.
I know I’m being hopeful, but between PlayStation probably having a bigger State of Play for E3, and the game director at the end saying they will share more updates close to launch; it makes me believe they will launch this year. I could also see early 2022.

If they weren't going to give us a release date then I don't see a reason to have this state of play. Dying Light 2 had their big gameplay reveal and gave us a date, hopefully later the far cry 6 reveal will give us a date.

From the look of it, its more similar to older Assassins Creed and Tomb Raider, but with grappling hooks and a parachute.

I didn't like HZD..especially the story.. this has a feel of typical letdown in sequel story. Whenever it comes out I'll wait till it's cheap or maybe nothing at all. Wonderful to see Parris here tho

I feel if this wasn’t coming in 2021 why have a whole SoP now. I mean Sony could have had this during their e3 event with a 2022 release. I feel this was shown so at E3 we will get a release date. The PS5 had HFW, GoW, and the HP game all announced for this year. The HP game was delayed until 2022. Plus,with the WM/Discovery merger who knows what happens to the WBIE studios and their games now. GoW has been rumored to be delayed until 2022. So besides R&C the ps5 has nothing really for the fall. I think HFW will have a fall release. I think Sony is waiting to see what else has release dates at that time and go from there. Out of the 3 biggest sellers(Spider-Man, HZD, and GoW) HZD is the one that has the biggest gap between its last game and now. GoW would be maybe 2 years. As I remember Cory saying he was gonna take time off before working on anything after GoW was released. Spider-Man 2 isn’t coming any time soon. Right now R&C and HFW are gonna the ps5’s biggest titles this year.
