I remember playing this game in front of my kid thinking she only kills robots and then it got to the point where you shoot people and I didn't think nothing of it. In my opinion horizon zero dawn has to be the most visually stunning game I have ever played. The environments are so beautiful and most definitely including at night. All of my ps4 home backgrounds are from the photomode of this game. Even today, I just run around the map trying to find that perfect picture.
Horizon zero dawn was one the first games I got for my ps4. Back then my ps4 storage was nothing but pictures. I had to shave down and save only the best of the best pictures I took. So all in all I have no idea how many pictures I've taken. Right now I have around maybe 120 last time I checked. My best picture has be to either one with crashed airplane next to a waterfall(while foggy and raining) or the one on the side of the mountain with trees(at night and snowing, with the moonlight god rays poking through the trees).

@Claudia’s Atelier i did. Very well polished and brilliant combat an stealth mechanics, my only issue was the lack of character depth with the cast but their performances were great.
It's funny how everyone keeps thinking of Breath of the Wild when it comes to the gliding mechanic even though that game wasn't even remotely the first one to use it (MDK, Shadow of the Colossus, Just Cause, etc).

Playing the Horizon Zero Dawn for the first time now. Now one of my favourite games ever. This gameplay trailer just blew me away. The underwater scenery is out of this world. Thank you PlayStation Studios!
I don't know about you but aloys spear finally appearing on her back instead of only in cutscene is a huge plus to me. It was a major pet peeve I had in the first game and I'm glad it got fixed.
For real. I hated when you went to swing it and it just appeared. For being such a prominent weapon in game story wise it felt odd that she didnt always have it on her back
IKR?! With the technology available today weapons shouldn't disappear. Though understandable if you are carrying more than 3 weapons, at least your main ones should be always visible on your character.
Me too. I installed it again after i dropped it after 10 hours. I dont like the open world bloat and the characters are all kinda bland, but Im enjoying the backstory of the open world and combat encounters
She wasn't talking underwater or talking out loud to herself for that matter, that's just her internal thoughts that you are hearing aloud to convey what she is thinking/feeling
i always thought the melee was intentionally weak in order to encourage keeping your distance/stealth/bow tactics. I wonder if improved melee in FW will still retain the balance of "Aloy weak up close"

I am SO excited about the face rigs..they've improved a lot since the first game, and their facial animation and expressions are so much more believable. Love it.
Remember that what we saw were only cutscenes. From what I remember, the awkward faces from the first game were seen more prevalent during regular dialogue with NPCs.
I'm replaying Zero Dawn rn and I forgot just how gorgeous it is. It really holds up! I refuse to fast travel because I just love exploring and gawking at the environments! I can't wait to explore Forbidden West even more 😩
It's been my main game since Black Friday 2017. Years later I'm still discovering hidden caves and meadows and a crashed plane near Aloy's home that you can climb to the tip of the wing that's sticking up.
This presentation made me tear up from how unbelievably beautiful and epic this game looks but also tear up from pure frustration because I still can’t afford or even find a PS5. But the day I do and the day I play this on PS5 will be a truly beautiful moment because even 4 years later this is still my favorite PS4 game, with my favorite lead female video character.
I cried through almost the entire video, if I can’t secure a PS5 through pre order, I’ll buy it from someone on Facebook. Not overly that more expensive really.
I only recently realized Horizon Zero Dawn had actually been given to me for free on my PS4. Decided to give it a shot. Not too far but what little i've currently played is amazing, so I am very stoked for Forbidden West already.

That's just how it is. This literally has nothing to do immersion whatsoever. It's about conveniency and coding implementation. It's a video game, no matter how realistic it's trying to be, some things need to be streamline because everything has presets and everything is part of programming. That's why no other games would put too much emphasis on it because of how ridiculous it will be if the same animation occur everytime you loot said items.
Yeah, hopefully they design some cool armors for Alloy. The only ones I liked in the first game was a Banuk heavy you can get early (mostly for the headpiece) and the Shadow Stalwart Heavy/Adept you get much later.

The first one is great and this showcase just highlighted how they improved the few flaws it had and made everything else better and smoother. I'm sure he's gonna like it but put too much attention to it's flaws even tho you get used to them. There is a 4k video of the showcase btw, I don't know if he already watched it.
I also didn't finish the first game near launch, but decided to give it a go again after they gave the Complete Edition for free and I actually enjoyed it much better the second time. The sequel's demo pretty much added my most wanted features which were more close combat and traversal options, I also hope they double on the Monster Hunter inspirations and add hunting sidequests with variant machines, the introduction to the hunter's guild on the first one ended too briefly with only one special Thunderjaw.
Kinda surprised no one has pointed out the fact that at the beginning of the gameplay when Aloy encounters those raptor-like machines, that one of them sounded like the Cleric Beast from Bloodborne
I always wanted Monster Hunter to take elements of Horizon Zero Dawn's combat system. If Horizon Forbidden West takes elements of Monster Hunters like fighting various different types of monster machines, this will be a great game. I didn't think HZD had enough massive machines to fight against.
I'm incredibly hyped for Project Awakening it looks like if Dark Souls and Monster Hunter World had a baby. I just hope it doesn't become like Deep Down where it just never releases.
I really wanted to play this mission when I got the game but it doesn’t exist, this demo is a mash-up put together to put on display the new features and show off some new machines you battle. The only time you face the Tremortusk in battle during a main quest pales in comparison to the fight in this demo. In fact none of the cut-scenes or dialogue is in the final game. That being said Horizon FW was fantastic. It was like Zero Dawn on steroids in nearly every way that made it’s predecessor awesome to play.
I mean most of us are already doing that, I have 1000 screenshots for the original game, with this one will probably be 2k-3k even lol. I don’t have a single game except this one above 100 photos. That tells you a lot. Reading every comment, sad to see some people found it boring, I loved it from start to finish and it’s story had me crying at every point, I can’t even think about this game or watch trailers without bawling my eyes out, don’t even get me started on the music. I’m looking forward to crying my heart out in Forbidden West honestly can’t wait. Wish more people could enjoy it to the degree I did, to feel how I feel about it, but yeah no such thing, too bad really.
Zero Dawn was one of my favorite games of the generation. Big surprise for me too, I platinum'd the game without even realizing it, and I almost never pay attention to trophy requirements.
I really recommend trying the 1st one in case you haven't played it yet! It was a really solid game - especially considering that it was Guerilla Games' open world debut! Just don't expect too much inovation in terms of the gameplay. Apart from the machines there isn't a whole lot of stuff (if any) there that we haven't seen in other titles before, often times even better like for example the tracking mechanics of Aloy that have been done so much better in the witcher. This is a bit disappointing in particular since Aloy _IS in fact_ a tracker with her device and also in terms of the lore but this part hasn't been fleshed out at all in the game. So I really hope they'll expand on that front in Forbidden West! Also I'd wish to see them change some of the asthetics of the game like a less stiff, or less traditional menu that the lore with Aloys holo-device would give such a great opportunity for something very fresh and futuristic that doesn't pull the player out of the game so much - same goes for the weapon wheel! However that's probably not gonna happen.. But other than that the game was amazing and it's definitely worth the time!
Oh you will fall in love with it. This is the few Adventure type gaming that i like because the story is so original so far and graphics are amazing. Im all about graphics and this game is like a buffet of graphics

Would really recommend you play and finish the first game before jumping into H:FW especially since it is a narrative driven experience. The dlc for H:ZD was also excellent and u would love fighting the new machines in it too
I thought the first game was alright. Story didn’t blow my socks off, and felt kinda whatever but fighting the giant robot dinosaurs was cool and was definitely the best part of the game. Fighting humans was probably the worst part of it, as well as the melee combat in the first game which they seem to be improving in the second, so I’m down for playing this whenever this comes out.
The underwater swimming is what I'd expect for a 3D Donkey Kong swimming levels to look... Never played Zero Dawn but I did pick the game up at a discounted price a while back, complete with all the DLC too. I'll probably wait until I hook up my PS5...
They improved the spear combat in this sequel. There's actual combos now. And it doesn't look like they have fucked around with the stuff that worked in the first game, just improving them. Hoping for a high framerate mode too.

Calling it now, the new trend for open world games is grappling hooks; Halo: Infinite, Horizon: Zero Dawn, any next gen game not announced yet will probably have them too. It's just a very useful gaming mechanic that tends to have no drawbacks and gives more versatility and control to the player. Grappling hook for the win!
I really love seeing Max trip about these visuals as someone that plays most games on a PC. I'm so tired of hearing my friends downplay the visuals because they think PC games look better than this does. I play a ton of games on PC, and have seen RE8 (arguably one of the best looking PC games right now) at max settings, this game is next level shit. An open-world with this amount of detail, variety, and lighting is insane. Its honestly so visually stunning that I have a hard time believing its real. However, if Sony's past offering are anything to go by, it DOES look that good.
the Horizon story of why the world is as it is is actually really good, the reason why there are mechanical monsters and people went back to the caveman level, but the bad part of Horizon for me was the same you found in RE Village, its too zoomed in
The "caveman level" part is one of my biggest gripes with the setting though cause we know the first people where educated by the machines inside the shelters so how come none of them made an effort to pass their knowledge?

I’m not gonna lie, I enjoy Max and get why he wants the best possible for steam and stuff, but I do not get the whole 30-60 FPS or even 4K ultra graphics hype he has all the time. I like a good looking game but it’s not super important.
It’d be different if other PS5 exclusives weren’t 60FPS as well but every exclusive so far has given an option for 60FPS or higher resolution. Confused on why people are so up in arms about the 30FPS. The game looks pretty great though!
Every single PS5 game release this gen has had a 60FPS option. They did this exact thing with Miles and Demon's Souls oh Miles is 30 oh Demon's is 30 and then they disappear back in their basement
Honestly, I don't think Max has the attention span for this kind of game that leans so heavily on narrative elements. I mean he got bored with the Witcher 3, and I don't think he put more than a couple hours into HZD before losing interest.
Max, I understand you likely don't have time to go back and finish the first game, but , I highly suggest you at the very least do a TH-cam search on Horizon Zero Dawn story, taking the time to watch a long video of all the important moments in the game because it became one of my favorite games ever with some jaw-dropping cinematics with huge story plot. It's rare for a game to be so impactful story wise. Story is worth watching for certain!

I only recently realized Horizon Zero Dawn had actually been given to me for free on my PS4.
Decided to give it a shot. Not too far but what little i've currently played is amazing, so I am very stoked for Forbidden West already.
Play the whole game it has one of the best narratives of any game.....

Stronger writing will be a benefit, they had it in the expansion, no reason to think they won't have it in FW

@@Rs-pb9qd For me that story and the one in gow2018 where the best i've ever witnessed in a videogame. I think a lot of people just didn't bother to read and listen to the audio's and even some smaller yet impactfull clips can be missed. But i agree it eventually all comes down to taste...

That kind of animation never tend to be part of the final product. It's part of the showcase. That's just how it is.
This literally has nothing to do immersion whatsoever. It's about conveniency and coding implementation. It's a video game, no matter how realistic it's trying to be, some things need to be streamline because everything has presets and everything is part of programming.
That's why no other games would put too much emphasis on it because of how ridiculous it will be if the same animation occur everytime you loot said items.

Yeah, hopefully they design some cool armors for Alloy. The only ones I liked in the first game was a Banuk heavy you can get early (mostly for the headpiece) and the Shadow Stalwart Heavy/Adept you get much later.

The first one is great and this showcase just highlighted how they improved the few flaws it had and made everything else better and smoother. I'm sure he's gonna like it but put too much attention to it's flaws even tho you get used to them.

I also didn't finish the first game near launch, but decided to give it a go again after they gave the Complete Edition for free and I actually enjoyed it much better the second time. The sequel's demo pretty much added my most wanted features which were more close combat and traversal options, I also hope they double on the Monster Hunter inspirations and add hunting sidequests with variant machines, the introduction to the hunter's guild on the first one ended too briefly with only one special Thunderjaw.
If you love Zoids, oh boy will you love this game.
Kinda surprised no one has pointed out the fact that at the beginning of the gameplay when Aloy encounters those raptor-like machines, that one of them sounded like the Cleric Beast from Bloodborne
I'm not surprised. FromSoftware uses a lot of stock sounds, so a lot of the sound effects in their games, you may hear in other games as well.

I always wanted Monster Hunter to take elements of Horizon Zero Dawn's combat system. If Horizon Forbidden West takes elements of Monster Hunters like fighting various different types of monster machines, this will be a great game. I didn't think HZD had enough massive machines to fight against.
What elements of horizon should MH take?
Only thing Horizon zero dawn does better than Monster Hunter is the fast paced shooting. Besides that monster hunters combat is miles better

I really wanted to play this mission when I got the game but it doesn’t exist, this demo is a mash-up put together to put on display the new features and show off some new machines you battle. The only time you face the Tremortusk in battle during a main quest pales in comparison to the fight in this demo. In fact none of the cut-scenes or dialogue is in the final game. That being said Horizon FW was fantastic. It was like Zero Dawn on steroids in nearly every way that made it’s predecessor awesome to play.
Play the first one max! The story is actually pretty damn good

Reading every comment, sad to see some people found it boring, I loved it from start to finish and it’s story had me crying at every point, I can’t even think about this game or watch trailers without bawling my eyes out, don’t even get me started on the music. I’m looking forward to crying my heart out in Forbidden West honestly can’t wait.
Wish more people could enjoy it to the degree I did, to feel how I feel about it, but yeah no such thing, too bad really.

Zero Dawn was one of my favorite games of the generation. Big surprise for me too, I platinum'd the game without even realizing it, and I almost never pay attention to trophy requirements.

I really recommend trying the 1st one in case you haven't played it yet! It was a really solid game - especially considering that it was Guerilla Games' open world debut! Just don't expect too much inovation in terms of the gameplay. Apart from the machines there isn't a whole lot of stuff (if any) there that we haven't seen in other titles before, often times even better like for example the tracking mechanics of Aloy that have been done so much better in the witcher.
This is a bit disappointing in particular since Aloy _IS in fact_ a tracker with her device and also in terms of the lore but this part hasn't been fleshed out at all in the game. So I really hope they'll expand on that front in Forbidden West!
Also I'd wish to see them change some of the asthetics of the game like a less stiff, or less traditional menu that the lore with Aloys holo-device would give such a great opportunity for something very fresh and futuristic that doesn't pull the player out of the game so much - same goes for the weapon wheel! However that's probably not gonna happen..
But other than that the game was amazing and it's definitely worth the time!
Oh you will fall in love with it. This is the few Adventure type gaming that i like because the story is so original so far and graphics are amazing. Im all about graphics and this game is like a buffet of graphics

Would really recommend you play and finish the first game before jumping into H:FW especially since it is a narrative driven experience. The dlc for H:ZD was also excellent and u would love fighting the new machines in it too
I feel like the story was not the first game's strong suit rather the setting and robot enemies.
I thought the first game was alright. Story didn’t blow my socks off, and felt kinda whatever but fighting the giant robot dinosaurs was cool and was definitely the best part of the game. Fighting humans was probably the worst part of it, as well as the melee combat in the first game which they seem to be improving in the second, so I’m down for playing this whenever this comes out.
Im playing through it right now. Fighting the robo dinos is the best part about the game. Everything else is just... "meh"
The underwater swimming is what I'd expect for a 3D Donkey Kong swimming levels to look...
Never played Zero Dawn but I did pick the game up at a discounted price a while back, complete with all the DLC too. I'll probably wait until I hook up my PS5...

Calling it now, the new trend for open world games is grappling hooks; Halo: Infinite, Horizon: Zero Dawn, any next gen game not announced yet will probably have them too. It's just a very useful gaming mechanic that tends to have no drawbacks and gives more versatility and control to the player.

He gave it a shot on PS4 when it first came out but didn't seem to be too interested in it. Same issue with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Witcher 3.
He’s not a huge fan of open-world styled single player games to much. Not because he thinks they are bad, it just usually doesn’t keep his interest.

I really love seeing Max trip about these visuals as someone that plays most games on a PC. I'm so tired of hearing my friends downplay the visuals because they think PC games look better than this does. I play a ton of games on PC, and have seen RE8 (arguably one of the best looking PC games right now) at max settings, this game is next level shit. An open-world with this amount of detail, variety, and lighting is insane. Its honestly so visually stunning that I have a hard time believing its real. However, if Sony's past offering are anything to go by, it DOES look that good.
I hope it looks like this on ps5, and doesn't get downgraded.

the Horizon story of why the world is as it is is actually really good, the reason why there are mechanical monsters and people went back to the caveman level, but the bad part of Horizon for me was the same you found in RE Village, its too zoomed in
The "caveman level" part is one of my biggest gripes with the setting though cause we know the first people where educated by the machines inside the shelters so how come none of them made an effort to pass their knowledge?

I’m not gonna lie, I enjoy Max and get why he wants the best possible for steam and stuff, but I do not get the whole 30-60 FPS or even 4K ultra graphics hype he has all the time. I like a good looking game but it’s not super important.
It’d be different if other PS5 exclusives weren’t 60FPS as well but every exclusive so far has given an option for 60FPS or higher resolution. Confused on why people are so up in arms about the 30FPS. The game looks pretty great though!

Every single PS5 game release this gen has had a 60FPS option. They did this exact thing with Miles and Demon's Souls oh Miles is 30 oh Demon's is 30 and then they disappear back in their basement

Honestly, I don't think Max has the attention span for this kind of game that leans so heavily on narrative elements. I mean he got bored with the Witcher 3, and I don't think he put more than a couple hours into HZD before losing interest.

Max, I understand you likely don't have time to go back and finish the first game, but , I highly suggest you at the very least do a TH-cam search on Horizon Zero Dawn story, taking the time to watch a long video of all the important moments in the game because it became one of my favorite games ever with some jaw-dropping cinematics with huge story plot. It's rare for a game to be so impactful story wise. Story is worth watching for certain!
