You 100% need to finish the first one. There’s so much lore and story, there’s a lot of exposition (in a good way), it really explains a lot of things.

Literally one of the greatest sci-fi stories ever told, the first game was AMAZING in the various ways you learned the history of the fate of civilization. The audio logs in that game alone... and the story the writers crafted as to how everything fell into this perfect storm of escalated events, man it was so well done.

It's a shame, people who didn't finished the 1st game wouldn't have attachment to Aloy and be clueless while watching this gameplay. I'm sure they wouldn't be as excited as those who finished the game.

100% agree, when I seen the reveal of Forbidden West last year during the PS5 showing, I had ZERO REACTION lol I actually had the first Horizon bought it 3 years ago during black Friday but just didn't play it. Fast forward to a couple days ago, I decided to finally just play it and boy or boy the game was amazing lol actually just beat it today took about 4 days. I already said to myself if I just played the first one a long time ago I would of probably lost it when I seen the trailer to Forbidden West but it's def for me up there with the God of wars, Uncharted, Last of Us type of games as far as I would buy a new system just to play it lol I have a PS5 so can't wait until this comes out.

If this doesn’t convince people who are still on the fence of whether or not to get a PS5 then absolutely nothing will.

You HAVE to beat the first one before playing this one! Just based on the few things we've seen, you won't fully understand the storyline unless you beat the first one.
When you’re talking about popping in games, it’s normally an unreal engine issue where the engine determines how valuable an asset is to load based on a number of variables and how that engine prioritizes those assets based on frame rates. Texture popping is somewhat of a depth of field mechanic that devalues some assets over others. Ie. If your character models are the priority, you may run into an area and then you’ll notice environmental details popping in as the processors try to keep pace. Likewise, if environmental assets (think Ghost of Tsushima) are the main focus, the engine will prioritize loading those first, and kind of ignore other elements.
The concept of rendering assets in engine, as in, within the same actual visual medium of gameplay isn’t new, but it’s very new to have mostly lifelike elements realized in engine. Before the past few years, they’ve mostly used pre-rendered scenes as cinematic sequences which can really get expensive in terms of console storage as every cutscene is a video file and not a segment of code.
I feel your pain on PS5. I’ve been lucky enough to get one, but it took my wife and I tirelessly checking 10 sites a day for 6-7 months. I hope you find one soon.!
Zero dawn was already a perfect, smooth, graphically stable and marvellous game I pc version, now no doubts in the technical aspects in forbidden West, looking more forward to the additional concepts and gameplay advances... love for aloy.. ❤
Even the ps4 version was absolutely mind blowing when released no other game compared graphically in 2017.

ok so i have played the entire game including the frozen wilds(dlc) and this was like a totally another game altogether, fyi: u could ride striders and broadheads but not dangerous ones like the robotic velociraptor so thats nice. the glider is new, throwing spears are new and u could swim in the previous game but not under water also gliding wasnt available in zero dawn in that u fall u die. Yeah same I also played the first game and dlc frozen wilds and this games looks completely different. The first is one of my favorite games but it had some things I didn’t like which was the combat. It was good using different arrows and things like the tripcaster and stuff but it got boring after a while. I tried to mix it with combos but it didn’t help for long. But now it looks like that’s not going to be a problem so I’m hyped for it.

You have not played 20% if you dont get to ride the machines in first game. The first cauldron is pretty early in the game

When you finish the first one the story becomes more clear, the characters more recognizable. And the changes will be more noticeable
Why are all these famous youtubers who react to this game acting like they have no clue what’s going on or have any knowledge to the game? Like haven’t they played the first? I swear every reaction I watch they commentate like they don’t know what’s going on like for example when Alloy scanned the area that was obvious and she does it with her focus. This should be common knowledge dude even if you played the game years ago. I just don’t really get it lol. And if you haven’t played the game then why react to a sequel game?
This is a whole other level man! So many new things! New machines! Going underwater! That jump she make using rope! More weapons! This looks awesome! Loved to see other older characters. All up for it.

She definitely is kinda hot, imo. Especially with the beautiful ass hair she's rocking. Apparently if a woman in a video game isn't fuckin, idk, Beyonetta or the 2011 Mortal Kombat female fighters, she isn't worthy. It's the dumbest non-issue in gaming.
The only issue I have about her character design in this version is the face looks to fluffed up for person as fit & doing parkours like aloy😂😂 the proportion feels off, the details look fantastic though maybe use the structure from the first game & details of the new. That would be a lot more balanced look.
Count me in that minority too. Played the first game, didn't hate it but didn't like it that much either. Just not the type of game I enjoy. Maybe I'll finish this overrated game some day.

You 100% should finish the first game first. Even if you play it again on the PS5 (if you have one) the mythology and lore is rich and has a lot of world-building
Jaby must complete the first game + DLC
* To Understand the characters which are recurring e.g., Sylens, Erend , Aloy ,etc
* To Get the full story in the first part + DLC.
* Machines we can mount and how we get to Override them and call one of them on demand.
* Fighting equipments and how to use them against whom.
* Personally to understand how hard it is PLAY THE DLC (Frozen Wilds)
Tips:-
Start The DLC after fully completing The MAIN storyline .
GET THE {SHIELD WEAVER} ARMOUR ASAP.

In the first game, you unlock machine-riding at around level 7 or so. There's a main story mission for you to override a machine and ride it near the start of the game, just before you leave the starting area. So, I'm thinking maybe you didn't complete as much of the story as you think you did, or perhaps you just forgot.
No swimming in the first one, and yes you do ride machines in the first game.
Riding is there in game 1 as well.. Love for the beautiful Achara...

Tbh her hair physx were great but at the beginning it was going inside her body and coming out or stayed half inside and it was kinda bugging me out.
You need to play and beat the first one! It’s really good plus this is a continuation of the first so It only makes sense .
People keep saying the glider is like breath of the wild but there was something similar in KILLZONE shadow fall.

14:30 I have mixed feelings about the graphics. It doesn't look very different from the first game. They pushed up the graphics sliders for some of the settings for all I can tell, but then it's running on next-gen.
I think the upgrades are more in the smaller details like geometry, more stuff on-screen and draw distance. Being a cross-gen game has certainly inhibited its potential

Graphics in general are good, but graphics alone wont make a great game. 1st horizon game was and is a still great game, it also has good graphics, but what makes the game great is story building, character building, how people building emotions for the game and characters in the game etc
Contradicting yourself a little there pal. I agree graphics alone doesn’t make a game great, but HZD has an amazing storyline, which gives HFB such a great platform. Add to the hardware improvement, this game is my most anticipated PS5 title.

yah, you HAVE TO finish thw first one before you play this. The story in HZD is not to be stifled with and it's paramount that you know what happened and where everything came from. You simply cannot appreciate HFW fully without finishing HZD first.
if you dont finish horizon you are not a gamer period. amazing game and i can say this need you to play first part and its dlc to understand any of the thing.i mean just of 1st art you know 3 different villians.
ps: you can ride machine after 1 hour of 1st game which is around 2 percent so jaby did not play anything from first at alllll
U got to play the first one 100% it's amazing nd you faced that rigidity because in PS4 it was in 30 fps u should try the 60 fps port in the pc(it's only in pc). This game is surely gonna be an awesome sequel because it has all the prev good aspects nd improved those which needed improvement.

The crazy thing is that it will be on PS5 as well as PS4. I am still wondering how it will run with them graphics on PS4.
Im thinking dynamic 1080p at 26- 30 fps will be fine but its going to be using all of the ps4s power, on the other hand ps4 pro and ps5 will be different. Pro should be hovering around a dynamic 1440p hopefully and 30 fps and ps5 lets hope for a atleast 2 modes native 4k 30 not sure if it will use any type of ray tracing
And dynamic 1800p - 1440p solid 60fps.

No co op will be the biggest mistake HZD2 could ever make, the way it plays out...its not designed for 1 player. Look at what happened to Valhalla...prime example.
@Jaby - You should play Horizon Zero Dawn for a considerable amount of time to understand the improvement in graphics, gameplay mechanics and character detailing. The most loathed feature in HZD was the conversation between characters and their expression. That has taken a dramatic change in Forbidden West. Though this change could be seen in the Frozen Wilds as well.
In HZD, you can ride machines which resembles animals who we usually ride like Horses and Bulls.
