    Who else is still somewhat taken aback by the effects JP has had on their lives?I would have never thought that a uni profs class videos would literally be among the most significant and powerful tools I ended up using to help turn myself and my life around.
    I liken life to climbing a mountain (telling, I know. ) and I'd recently fallen back down the mountain for the second time in my life. Jordan Peterson was instrumental in making sure I didn't give up and die on the side of the mountain. Onward and upward guys. We've got some unnecessary suffering to alleviate.

      Hoxton Fitness .. Thats soo great to hear. Listen kid, we are all in the shit and deal with shittyness and mind games from people every day. But I'm very glad a young kid has found these videos and advice to use in one's life. therapist's charge far too much these day's any way. keep learning, watching, maturing and holding on to your life. You are important, you are heard, You are very much needed, I hear ya kid.
      stay strong and watch movies as much as you can.

      I would never recommend someone take on depression alone. Thats not to say someone "fixes" you, thats not a therapists job. Their job is to help you with the tools to pull yourself up. Some can do it, some cannot. It all depends on how severe the depression is; which is ALL subjective.
      I really cannot stand when some people go on as if its "mind over matter", thats not even the case. Nobody relatively intelligent would suggest that, tho.

      Linzi This is true. Very crucial to note that in any significant cognitive shift the governing force is transmitted by one's self, even if you were helped in some form by others (and you almost always are, that's why psychoanalytical counseling is so effective).

      I notice he does draw pictures with his gestures like the square in pulp fiction - diagrams on an invisible boards - Edward De Bono's work comes to mind - Was it called mind maps ? - De Bono suggested maps instead of 'boring' lists. Anyway I think Professor Jordan Peterson is more than great. He's like a mystic but reaching one's spirit through the mind instead of yoga exercise/meditation. He's the best!

    • @MrJamberee

      He has more hand gestures than anyone I have ever seen. They are so much in sync with his words... and that's even more amazing. I don't feel bad about myself at all, but every time I watch these videos (one or two every day) I start thinking: How can I become a better person. Even if you feel like a ''good'' person who seems to have it all figured out, this is the kind of information you can use to improve yourself in almost every way. Sure, you need at least an average or higher intelligence to understand everything he says. I still use google to translate some words because I'm not English; but every day I'm glad I did it because I understand his videos just a little better. Keep learning!

    Jordan Peterson is one of the only few human beings that has actually explained what a human being is. He effectively describes human nature. He's a supporter of humans. He's for the human. he's like a cheerleader for the human experience. it's not why am I here that JP can explain... though maybe he can. But more like what am I? The man is an absolute genius. Whether he's correct or not. These ideas....the way he explains them. The ideas are extremely useful. in a nutshell...... he's making a severe case for the existence of the human.

    My father came from stern, conservative/traditional, religious parents who didn't tolerate children behaving as children. They weren't allowed to play or laugh or express themselves like normal kids do, and I see now how it affected his social and cognitive functioning. He spent his life being anxious, angry, aggressive, and impulsive (violent). A smart enough man who made it through college and held down a steady career, and is intelligent in many ways, but lacks executive & higher level functioning. It was only his determinism to cling onto his religious beliefs that we weren't abandoned or killed. Grateful to JBP for providing closure I needed to mend old wounds and move on.

But now I know the truth. All in all, what the hell do I know, I still need to act in this world with that truth( to slay the father, and rescure and clean Dragon...from the Gulag- roughly speaking).

    ive shed all the ways of thinking I do not like, but I still have to change my habits. Thats a lot harder I think, at least for me it has been. Some of my habits have been rehabilitated out of necessity at some point and I just kept doing them once the necessity is gone because thats how I know how to do things. Acting out of uncertainty is hard, because even if I accept it and try to do something I cant stop the physiological response to it. Like standing in front of a crowd of people with nothing to say, even if nothings happening and you know nothing will, it doesnt stop you from sweating like crazy. For example

    • @sophiekelly4346
      @sophiekelly4346 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The more you do that though it begins to stop. It stops scaring you and your bodies responses chill out, and it gets easier. It's like any phobia. Apparently public speaking is the most common phobia, well done for getting so far!
