Suggested routine for use in wash form:
-Use a gentle cleanser to remove makeup/dirt/sunscreen.
-Lather on benzoyl peroxide wash (on damp skin) to areas that have acne. Use simple circular motions with pads of the fingers, and leave on for 2-3 minutes. Be sure to avoid eyes/lips!
    -Rinse off.
-While skin is still damp, use a moisturizer. In the morning, use sunscreen as well.

For years when I was a teenager I used salicylic acid cleanser to treat my acne. It was over exfoliating my skin and leaving it tight after every wash. Once I switch to benzoyl peroxide my acne flatten down and my skin calm down instead of drying up like it did with salicylic acid. I wish they stop advertising salicylic acid as an acne treatment. I use salicylic acid cleanser once a week as an exfoliant. I don’t have acne anymore, but once in a while my skin breaks out and I use benzoyl peroxide cleanser and my skin back to normal.

I've been using benzoyl peroxide gel since 2008 and it's the ONLY treatment to clear my nodular acne. When I was a teen I'd use salicylic acid and it would always irritate my skin. BP 5% or less doesn't irritate my skin at all.

    • @str8harry
      @str8harry 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Same. Every esthetician I saw would only recommend salicylic to like it was just this cure all product, but it literally never did anything for me. Then I use BP and after literally one wash I could tell it was actually doing something.

Started having acne a year ago, went through antibiotics + clindamycin and adapalene but didn't work quite well. Months later, my derm had me switched to epiduo forte and in just 3 months I've seen some big improvement, no more cystic ones and just having small pimples every now and then.
Morning routine: mild facial wash + centella serum + sunblock
Night routine: double cleansing with micellar water and mild facial wash + epiduo forte every other night or cerave pm moisturizer

When i was 13 i started down the breakout road. Mostly on my chin and lower checks. My mom got me some benzoyl peroxide wash and lotion. I used for the first and only time , that night. I woke up with peeling ,burning, red swollen skin. Mom took me to the pediatrician. He sent me to the dermatologist for the first time. I'm allergic / too strong for my skin. My mom felt soooo bad. Dermatologist gave me a small list of 2 products wash and moisturizer. All were Neutrogena and fragrance free. And he told me to throw away any makeup brushes I used with Natural hairs. And get synthetic hair brushes. Wash them every week with a mild soap. Stop using any astringents.
He prescribed a sulphur wash to be used only in the area of the break outs.
    Never had a zit again.
Lesson learned. I need a dermatologist in my life! My
Skin is way to sensitive to not have one.
I was nervous to start Retin A. But I took what I learned from Dr. Dray to him and he was total on board. My skin texture has improved 100% . My malasma is almost gone!!! ❤

Alternating between Salicylic Acid(morning) & Benzoyl Peroxide(night), plus using a toner that suits your skin type that is alcohol-free, unscented, and natural, may be great holy grails for clearer skin. :) I personally like Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash or Neutrogena's Rapid, Clear, Stubborn Acne Scrub (both products are 2% Salicylic Acid).
And Neutrogena's Rapid, Clear, Stubborn Acne Gel (Maximum Strength Benzoyl Peroxide/10%).
Using a sunscreen spf 30 as part of your regime the next day would help. ♡
And toner, Thayer's Witchhazel Rosepetal toner is a good option that should be used with a cottonball gently & allowed to patiently be absorbed + cool water after helps with redness if there's any. These would likely help with hormonal acne, I myself am going through its journey to clearer skin.
Products listed are only as guides lol or examples/references but they help.
Moisturizing and/or a noncomedogenic oil also are very important. 💞💞 Nourish the skin, as you're helping its acne go away!

@@nadiaruiz1945 my hormonal acne is a thing of the past! I would say it cleared completely by 6 months. Now I only have an occasional white head that clears on its own. The reply by Stephanie was spot on. Bp wash at night and salicylic acid in the morning was my routine with witch hazel as my toner. Consistency is key. It will probably get worse before it gets better but please don't get discouraged. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
And now I just use basic face wash by Neutrogena but if I see an uptick I just break out either the bp wash or salicylic acid wash for maintenance

I would use the la roche posay effaclar kit as well as cerave moisturizing lotion and it kept all my acne away except for the whiteheads. I switched the products around a couple times and tried only washing once a day but this made me breakout with not only whiteheads but pimples. I’m now using Adapalene gel and it is working. I’m only on day 3 (so before much irritation and purging) but I would give it a try. I also only use the cleanser from that kit in the morning and switched my moisturizer to Neutrogena sensitive moisturizer. Now I’m just looking for a good sunscreen.

I am surprised the Differin deep cleanser BP wash didn’t work for you. The formulation is a lot more simple and should have less of a chance of causing irritations compared to Panoxyl. It’s like 7 ingredients vs 20 ish in either 4 or 10% panoxyl. The Perrigo BP cleansers have a similar formula to the Differin with the addition of a few extra ingredients but still like 9 or 10 vs 20 something in Panoxyl.

The perfect timing. I've purchased clindamycin with Benzoyl peroxide three weeks ago after watching you, and it worked wonders. My next step is retinol (tretinoin isn't available in my country) to help remove hyperpigmentation. Can I use a retinol to which salicylic acid is added while I'm using clindamycin and benzoyl? All thanks to you. I am a Syrian living in Syria, by the way. 🌹🌹

I’m 52, and I still break out a few times a year. The reason I only break out a few times a year is because I use BP 2.5% cream thinly spread over my entire face and tons of moisturizer twice a day. I’ve tried everything else (years and years of everything else!) and BP has been the only thing that’s kept me clear. As long as I moisturize religiously, I’m fine. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a miracle drug.
