I'm having a good time with it. I'm about to start Episode 3, and overall it's very well done. Little tip for anyone frustrated by the lock on holding you in place. Just hit the run, and it will let you flee. It can be very helpful to get away, and quickly regroup, or find environmental objects to use.

I'm french and it's really difficult to translate this expression. It means in the same time "get ready (to defend and to attack)" and "be careful".
That's why we just say "en garde" in English. It preserves that certain je ne sais quoi.

@@queruba. Oh well yes if you want to translate it literally and also preserve the spirit of the original and have it sound pretty much exactly the same then I guess you could do that. If that's really what you want.

It's heartbreaking how many indie titles are out of reach for console folks. I'm still hoping for Potionomics!

@@niedomyty00 Yeah, I have a potato laptop that can play graphically-simple (i.e. 2D or retro 3D games) on Steam -- so I do play quite a few 2D indies there. But anything with modern 3D, even a fairly small-budget game like En Garde!, just chugs on my PC. So I've got to cross my fingers and wait for console on those...
That would be rad!

Well, nice review again. This game also came out on GoG now, hooraaay! :)
Too bad that parrying is one of my fatal weaknesses in any game that has them. Grime for example, is a great title but it's almost unplayable to me and I think En Garde won't be any easier.
I wish there was unlockable cosmetics tbh. Like a mask, i think everyone will wear them on the future, after all.

Is it like a character action game where you have scoring after each level?
Somewhat, but not in the traditional sense. The game kinda has its own vibe.
I actually prefer the no puzzle more linear design, since it lets you focus on the core gameplay mechanics with no fluff. Which of course has to be really good, with high levels of creativity for repeat playthroughs. I think I might give it a try at a discount.
