Most nostalgia I ever felt in a game in sometime. The smile on my face while playing was never ending! A game many of us wanted but thought we'd never get, yet here it is. :)
Just so everybody knows the pc version of this game is really good. Its not very demanding and the frametimes are perfect. I have never seen a game with frametimes like this. I ran it at 165 fps and the frametime was 6ms flat the entire time. It also runs perfectly on steam deck. Not really surprising but these days nothing is guaranteed on pc.
I mean the game is no.1 in steam top sellers now beating Starfield with overwhelmingly positive reviews. Pretty sure PC players already know the game is top tier
I’m debating between switch and pc, part of me wants high frames and resolution of pc, but the other part wants the switch portability for this game in particular.

@@ModsNSods1 strangely it runs very smooth on handheld. It kinda is choppy docked in moments where the cops pull up or if you hit an area that is hugeee like brink terminal and pyramid island
Thank you for shining a spotlight on this game. As a hardcore Jet Set Radio fan, it absolutely exceeded my expectations. It actually builds upon the original series' gameplay in new and exciting ways. The art direction is nostalgic and super colorful. And the soundtrack! It is an absolute banger. The three new tracks from Hideki Naganuma stand side-by-side with his work on the Jet Set Radio series. I really hope this opens new doors for Team Reptile and I would 100% love to see what they could do with a sequel.

The cel-shaded art looks amazing. I wish Capcom would remember they made Auto Modellista and help bring back cel-shaded games to modern consoles. Huge Jet Grind Radio fan so this is a def Switch Purchase. Hi-Fi Rush was also a lot of fun!
I'm having a lot of fun with BRC on the Switch. I am hoping though that Team Reptile will have a physical edition for it down the road like Lethal League Blaze. Even if it is just a Japanese Exclusive again.

Been waiting for this for SO long. It feels JUST like JSRF from back then. Naganuma is just as good as he was back then and that's evidenced by the amazing soundtrack. A worthy successor and a true evolution.
Not even close. BRC is the closest you're going to get to JSRF without getting sued. Its more similar visually, mechanically, and musically. BRC is more similar down to the characters dancing in place and everyone giving little one liners in lieu of actual dialogue.

Um actually 🤓 its Jet SET Radio, not Jet grind radio. Grind was a location mistake they made because english localization was horrible, back then. The localized sequel corrected this with Jet Set Future 🤓 (lol)

(my guess is that the copyright holders just allowed them to use it.) The name was actually already jet set radio before transitioning to grind set radio. Unfortunately for all you pre-order happy kids out there, we don't have its new name just yet, but we expect Sega to let loose with the new handle in short order."
I wish we get crazy taxi for the switch, either an enhanced port of the first game or a collection of the main 3 games, that'd be so awesome, I really miss those games 🤧
Only homebrew allows it. Sonic Adventure 2 works well, framerate does dip when there are a lot of explosions, its very playable. Gonna have to test crazy taxi now xD
The Jet set radio/rally sport challenge was a fantastic pack in bundle with the OG Xbox. Although I up halo I spent my first few weeks on my Xbox only played Jet Set Radio Future. The soundtrack was great too.
I grew up with JSRF and it's one of my favorite games to this day. This game is seriously great I've been playing all night and day. It's the sequel I've always wanted 😭 so much love and detail was put into it. It may as well have been an official JSRF 2, it goes above and beyond some "clone" game. It stands on its own so well and I can't wait to play more, I've been trying to 100% it while doing the story and it's a blast figuring out all the ways to achieve the hard spots and collectibles. I really hope they continue with this series because the little kid in me is SOLD. The art style, the music, the gameplay, all plays so well into each other and scratches that itch fans have had for so long. It saddens me that Sega dropped the ball on the series but I'm so grateful for passionate people making passion projects, Team Reptile fckin killed it man.
Fun fact, An interview with the devs revealed that majority of the soundtrack is pulled from real artist you can use Shazam to find the songs you want.
I've been playing it all morning. A+ experience, team reptile really ripped off JSR in the classiest of ways and pasted it on to a new formula that delivers with gripping thrill.

I am buying this game tonight! I loved Jet Set Radio and Jet Grind Radio! As far as music from those games, I learned about Jurassic 5 from the Dreamcast game and Aisle 10 (Scapegoat Wax) from the Xbox game!
I feel like the 'proper' platform to play this on would be Xbox. The OG XBox is basically the Dreamcast 2 as it used a modified SEGA Chihiro Arcade motherboard and most of SEGA's IP's went over to that first gen xbox like SEGA GT 2002, Jet Set Radio Future, Virtua Fighter and Crazy Taxi among many others that saw release on that system exclusively. The XBox is basically the official spiritual successor to the Dreamcast to the point that the original Duke controller is basically a revamped Dreamcast controller... It'd just feel right to be playing that on an XBox series console to me... there's an actual connection there, unlike on a switch. Nintendo vs SEGA was mostly dead by then, but old rivalries die hard. It still feels totally wrong to have Genesis on the Switch online service lol.

Been playing this on the deck and having a wild nostalgia trip. Played so much JSR on the Dreamcast, finished it dozens of times. Weirdly enough, never got an Xbox at the time of JSRF and never played more than 1h of that one. Need to get my sh*t together and play it too.
This has been on my #1 wishlist game ever since it showed up on steam. JSRF was my first Xbox game and one of my all time favorites. Team Reptile did a phenomenal job with Lethal League and Lethal League Blaze, so I knew this was going to be fantastic. Blaze used the same art style and both games had a sick soundtrack. BRCF is everything we wanted in a potential sequel to JSRF and more. I can't recommend this enough, 10/10.
How is it your favorite game? Genuinely curious. When I got my original Xbox it came with a dual cd that had Sega GT 2002 and JSRF and personally i just did not find any enjoyment with JSRF. I didn’t even understand it back then honestly. And I was 13/14. I could understand complex idea but just didn’t get the idea of JSRF. I’d played a lot of THPS on PlayStation before then. But even as a fan of skating games I couldn’t get into that game. I just thought it was weird.

Honestly I liked the music just as much if not more than the game itself. The music as well as the art style were something you didn't really get in other games at the time. I liked the fact that the characters were always dancing too. I tried playing the original years later and didn't like it, felt too different. The music was great though. I guess it stuck with me because it was so different in every aspect from everything else. I still listen to the ost every now and then. Even with all of its jankiness I look back on JSRF very fondly. Perhaps thats just nostalgia talking.
Very fun game, enjoying it very well. My only complaint atleast for me is the lack of tricks, like the game play is very simple and not demanding in terms of tricks which I like, the game has 3 buttons that do 1 trick respectively and change depending if your airborn, on the ground, doing a manual, or rail riding. The tricks feels too simple bcuz your basically doing the same trick depending on what button you do. I feel like it would've been fun if the 3 trick buttons have 3 total trick animations per button that changes randomly. I know it may sound demanding bcuz the developer would have to animate for the inline skating, BMX, and skateboard, while making more animations when on the ground, rail riding, doing a manual, and airborn.
You can alter your trick by leaning left or right on the rail. For all tricks so there’s a second animation or third animation and you get to control the flow

I'll just say I'm an oldie guy because I owned an original Dreamcast and I'm a big Jet Grind Radio fan. So, I'm so geeked that this game is coming out. I might just buy a PS5 just to get this game and others. Bring JGR to PS4/5 too.

As a fan of Tony hawk's pro skater I really like this game I felt like a soothing effect playing it, one of the best indie games I've ever played

To correct you, Jet Set Radio Future did have combat near the end of each stage.

Similar combat was in Jet Set Radio Future. You had to bump into the cops with your boost and then spraypaint them.

I feel like it would've been fun if the 3 trick buttons have 3 total trick animations per button that changes randomly. I know it may sound demanding bcuz the developer would have to animate for the inline skating, BMX, and skateboard, while making more animations when on the ground, rail riding, doing a manual, and airborn.
You can alter your trick by leaning left or right on the rail. For all tricks so there’s a second animation or third animation and you get to control the flow

@@gallanomarkandrea.1787 well essentially it’s the same trick animation but if you lean your character to the left of the rail they change their stance a bit
Left or right, also there is boost tricks, which makes your character go backwards. You need boost meter for the boost tricks

I'll just say I'm an oldie guy because I owned an original Dreamcast and I'm a big Jet Grind Radio fan. So, I'm so geeked that this game is coming out. I might just buy a PS5 just to get this game and others. Bring JGR to PS4/5 too.

I don't think you can change that, but you can change the decks by collecting them, not really a huge thing though.
