I never got into the main franchise as a whole, if only because I don't play many fighting games, but I was definitely intrigued when I heard about this. I do enjoy a good roguelite, especially when it's like Dead Cells. This is seeming like it's off to a really great start, even for being early access. Hopefully the sound and music will be improved down the line, but aside from that, this is seeming up my alley and I might have to give it a go sooner rather than later. Thanks for the review.
The Blazblue game I have played so far is Blazblue CrossTag Battle. I admit to playing it because it included characters from RWBY (despite the small number of them), but overtime, I got interested in the world of Blazblue, despite how messy the storyline can be. A Blazblue roguelike has a lot of potential, from the playable characters to enemies to music. Hope that this early access does well and here is to a great full release 🤞
I've been a huge fan of Blazblue since Calamity Trigger and since us Blazblue fans have been starving for a new anything, even though this isn't a fighter, this is quickly becoming my favourite roguelite/like. I haven't played too many of them with Hades and Dead Cells being the only other ones I have played. Here's hoping that Makoto, Azrael, Kagura, Bullet, Nine the Phantom and, Naoto get added the game eventually. Also maybe port over some of the actual Blazblue soundtrack.
I'm considering it. I SUCK at BlazBlue (I'm so bad I can't even clear the intermediate tutorials), but this looks like it might be cool, and I do love seeing characters from other genres (especially Fighting) in different contexts like this. Roguelites do make me a little nervous, especially after pouring over a hundred hours into Wizard of Legend and still not being much closer to finishing a run, but I loved Moonlighter and (probably more relevant) Foregone. I haven't played Dead Cells, either, for much the same reason, but that does also look cool.
If you're still having fun, does it matter? The way I see it, when I was a kid I would play games over and over again and die and have to start all over. It's kind of like the 21st century version of "Retro Hard" so if you're having fun that's all that matters (in my opinion).
@@ExHardcoreGamer It doesn't, but once I've maxed out all of my roguelite upgrades, and I'm still not getting any better at the game, it starts to feel hopeless, and for the most part, I have to go start-to-finish with my games. I think part of that is that I like having the whole experience at once, and I like that closure of at least finishing a full run; it's why I don't buy games if I think there will still be new DLC coming out for it, and why I don't play MMOs period. So you are absolutely right, but I have to account for my persnickety brain.
It's out today (out of early access). Will give it a shot. Graphics and gameplay look solid. Due to it being a Chinese game, I'm not expecting a deep storyline.
Main issue is that most enemies have nothing to do with Blazblue I can give you 1 very very simple busted move: Nu 12's up skill. She spawns...spams balls in the air which shoot automatically. Upgrade her skill damage and youre set. She will spam like crazy shreding bosses and enemies with relative ease. (I have beaten Advanced mode with that move)
The only thing that really bugs me about this game is how the character animations and sprites are essentially straight up ripped from Blazblue Centralifiction with a few tweaks here and there making it feel like an asset flip. I was hoping for the game to have original spritework but I understand the decision due to how big the cast is. It still feels very jarring tho and it will take me a while to get adjusted to it.
The timestamps you are looking for would be 0:37 and 1:45! As for saving if you do "back to main menu" you'll be in the last section you left off. Other than that like any rogue game when you die you die.

I may pick this up because I have all of the BlazBlue games, and I'm a diehard fan of my boy, Ragna The Bloodedge.
Hell yeah!
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did
@@ExHardcoreGamer i will, when it comes out of early access.
@@lexnoil understandable. Can't wait to see what it looks like then.
You just like me fr

It is still a fun series even if you aren't the most skilled player 😀

I always liked some of the blazblue characters but hate fighting games. Might check this out it looks cool

This is a fair criticism and we thank you for sharing.
