man, I'm not sure how much the general population knows this, but this man seriously did the impossible. Glioblastoma is a fucking nightmare of an illness, and as a nurse, I can see how detrimental it can be to someone. I believe it was through his sheer love of music and *us* that he made it through this tour, and I will be forever grateful that he did. The Hip have saved my soul on more than one occasion.

I can't get enough of watching Gord and the Guys.
If there was ever an inspiration Gord was the real deal.
As sick as he was , he had the most incredible life and energy a Human could muster. If you ever have a crappy day or feel the weight on you're shoulders, watch Gord. Absolutely pure magic .
Thanks for all the great memories Gord and the Hip !!! R.I.P. Sir.

I saw their second show when they came to Vancouver, on the Tuesday night. This, on the heels of seeing my favorite band ever, The Who, not long before. All I can tell you is that seeing The Hip was one of the most moving and ethereal experiences of my life. No one kept a dry eye. It was absolutely beyond magical. The sickest man in the room was the one with the greatest life in him. The connection between the fans in Rogers Arena and The Hip was completely mesmerizing. Nothing like that will ever come our way again. They wrote the soundtrack of our lives, and we were there to give thanks: Magic, pure magic.

This is one great performance. I wish this band was more popular here in the States. I remember when "Ahead By a Century" came out in 1994, though. I was 17 at the time and our local radio station started playing it. Then I heard nothing else from the group and I thought they'd broken up or something. Then when I went to Vancouver in 2016, I read an article about Downie and Tragically Hip. I was surprised to hear that they had remained intensely popular in Canada and I was saddened to hear abut Downie's illness.
That the band never enjoyed mainstream success in the US is our loss.

This band means many things to many people. As a non Canuck, your band, and your country, is maginificant. Had the absolute privelage of seeing the hip in Manchester (UK) in 2009. Probably about 300 people there. Canadians, stop...take a deep breath. So few, I saw them about 6 rows in. There were alot of canucks that night in the UK. I want to add something else to the debate, that the themes, the pain, the love are universal themes. The hip touched many, many people outside of Canada.

Paul McKay Hate to break it to you but most of Canada doesn't give a shit about this band, let alone be proud of them.

I don't know that I'll ever be over the loss of Gord. I was lucky enough to see The Hip in 2002 in San Francisco. I was about six feet from Gord. I've been to dozens if not hundreds of rock shows over the years, and I don't think I ever experienced a connection between a band and its audience like there was that night. I can't imagine how much stronger that connection was with a Canadian audience.

What can I say Gord? I am a music nut @ 60. The Hip keeps Canada in the "world music circle" and your voice and style is truly unique. Wish you could have come east to the maritimes but my only wish is Peace and Love to you......

All i can think of is the shit Gord will have to go through battling the cancerous son of a bitch attacking his brain.Brain cancer is one of,if not the worst of all cancers to deal with. The old cliché that life can be cruel and unfair rings so true right now.

Just finished watching a particularly poignant episode of Ann of green gables. With this as the parting song, so this is even more poignant! Thank you for posting! Long live Canada! Our gracious neighbors to the north!!

That would be ANNE with an E. This song is in every episode's opening credits, which are the most beautiful of any TV show I've ever seen.
