    Wonderful video. I have been jumping for 30 minutes every weekday since last Monday, and I have to say, taking the weekend off to recover was the best thing I could have done. I warm up with jumping jacks, deep bodyweight squats, walking lunges, and pushups. I also do some ballistic stretching, and shoulder, ankle, and knee rotations to get the joints warmed up. I think I will add in the calf walks, and maybe add some resistance bands to my squats. You guys have been a wonderful inspiration for me. Keep doing the thing, and I will too.

    i started jumping rope at 35 and got achilles tendonosis that took 4 months to heal. It was described to me as little tears in the tendon. I had to keep from pushing off with my calves and wear heal lifts in my shoes that whole healing time. Doc said he wouldn't recommend anyone to start fresh jumping rope past their 20's.

  • @ggarzagarcia
    @ggarzagarcia 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    At least 4 areas of audio issues. You still hear voice but static as well.
    This is like a version 2.0 from your original injury prevention video. Loving it 👍
    In my experience, compression socks are good but make sure not too tight (like the copper ones). I have been doing weights particularly on legs, and those help. And Omega 3! Yes, I recommend Nordic Naturals.

    This was awesome. I've been warming up with the squats and shoulder dislocations that Myka did on your Jump Rope Queen episode and that works pretty well for me. It's good to know about not stretching the tendons, because I was thinking of adding that to my warm up. Question: Are pull ups and push ups good for active recovery? I've slowly pushing myself to both on the weekend--when I don't jump. Thoughts?

    • @JumpRopeDudes
      @JumpRopeDudes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      cafemambi - active recovery is more gentle. Swimming, walking, maybe a jog at a moderate pace... ride a bike. Stuff that gets the blood moving, but doesn't really challenge you like crazy...

    Is jumping rope for 30-45 min 5 days a week + 30 min calisthenics 3-4 days a week enough to shed fat and maintain muscle ?

    My knees were keeping me from jump rope so I saw a chiropractor. Turns out my knees are healthy and strong but I have a lower back issue that makes my knees hurt. So she suggested 5 mins a day as I go in for 3 treatments a week. I feel like I'll be jumping rope longer as my back improves.

    • @boop3260

      You're better off seeing a physio. Until you treat the muscles pulling things out of alignment, chiro adjustments aren't going to do much except offer temporary fixes.

    I just started jumping rope three days ago i started the first day jumping just around three minutes total and the next day i did ten minutes straight but taking breaks whenever i started getting really tired. Today my calves and knees hurt sooo bad they hurt even to walk. I messed up yesterday I didn't warm up or stretch before jumping while as the first day I was jogging, stretching, squatting before hand. Usually when I try to exercise I feel so sick and feel dizzy and get cold sweats, feeling like i'm going to vomit but these past three days have been good so far :) I want to start being more active and get my blood circulating and just try to be healthy in general maybe lose a little bit of pudge I have on my love handles and my bloated feeling. I only weigh around 110 lbs at 5 feet tall but I'm not doing this to really lose weight just to be more healthy and get my heart stronger.

    • @JumpRopeDudes
      @JumpRopeDudes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      VeronicaTheBird - the easiest way to injure yourself is by doing too much too soon. If you are new to jump rope, do the warm up (and then scale one round or do some freestyle) every other day. Stretch at night, after workouts and on your off days.
      Lock in that nutrition.
      Add more exercise as your body adjusts.
      Trust the process.

    I'm having pain in the toes and area around the balls of the right foot 😔 I think I went too aggressive, I was jumping 3k then took it upto 4k for 3-5 days then i hit 5k in a day which lead to this pain.

    I am very sad that i hurt my foot and knee after jumping rope for a month (using my fave Crossrope). I wonder when I can jump rope again. I never love any workout as much as jump rope. before jumping rope, I used to do advanced yoga everyday. I think my mistake is that I jump everyday for 20 mins (300 skips then 30 secs rest). I have this mind set that if i don't jump on that day, i will gain weight =( . what about i just 22 mins for 6 days per week ? , is this enough ? and i need to get a shoe.

      I have the same problem. I'm a decently fit guy, but my calf pain when jumping rope is off the charts. This video focused more on knee pain and on strengthening tendons, but I don't know if that means it will also help with calf pain.

    • @JumpRopeDudes

      Hubert Davis - try doing weighted walks on your toes. reduce your skipping frequency and don't do static stretching right before working out.

      Movie Montage - It's our opinion that everyone should be mindful of what (and how much they are eating). It's also our opinion that you should get advice from a professional as you have a lot of development going on in your body.

    Can a big ( obese ) man .. Include some jump rope into loosing body fat . with out damaging the knees.. Or joints... Cause getting hurt puts me out longer periods of time..

    • @JumpRopeDudes
      @JumpRopeDudes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Al B - we don't want ANYONE to get hurt :(
      1) Recognize, it takes time to change your body. Get in that mindset and get ready to
      2) Make better choices around nutrition. Cut out the soda? Skip a meal? Reduce a portion. Make small changes
      3) Add activity. Go for a short walk. Do some jumping jacks. When you are ready skip for a few seconds.
      Don't go from sedentary to thinking you are athlete overnight... You'll get hurt... Just go slow. Watch this:
