I love the "older" steel rides but I think to get a good experience on Magnum you need to study the best seats to sit in. It can be very painful if you are in the wrong seat.

I really don’t understand everyone’s complaints about cedar point. I went for 4 days at the very beginning of August and was able to get 17 rides on vengeance, 11 rides on maverick, and everything else at LEAST once. CP handled the situation so well, and I truly felt safer here than at my local grocery store. Look forward to going back as soon as possible.

I spent a week at Cedar Point in late July (My first time there, and with one day at Kings Island), and I think you hit all the main points on the head. Other than a nasty sunburn, I had a great time. CP was super strict on the masks, and I saw multiple people be ejected from the park for not wearing one. On CCMR, they even told riders to keep their masks on during the second lift hill. One nice thing was the lack of crowds, though it got pretty busy on Thursday and Friday of that week. Every coaster was open (including Wicked Twister) during the trip so I was able to get all the credits except the kiddie rides.
I had one bad weather day (on a Monday), and they shut down all the rides while I was in line for Steel Vengeance. Everyone left the line except for me and a couple of local high school kids, and the ride ops came down the station and hung out with us for about half an hour. They even let us remove our masks as long as we were six feet apart. When it became clear that the ride wasn't going to open for a while, all of us left, and after dinner (I was staying at Lighthouse Point), the skies cleared up, and I was able to ride Steel Vengeance twice in the back row and Maverick once in the front before the park closed. No Access Passes needed.
The lack of Fast Lane was my biggest issue. Kings Island had it this year, so no idea why Cedar Point decided to skip it. Because of that, I was able to get almost as many rides in at Kings Island in one day than at Cedar Point in five. By the way, Orion is underrated. It and Mystic Timbers are my top two there. Got five rides on Orion and Four on Mystic Timbers on top of one ride on everything else (two on Diamondback).

Yeah I would have to agree with this video. It is annoying on packed days when you wait a while to get passes and then have to wait an hour or so for the coaster. But on that same Friday you went, me and my friend went, getting a ride on Steel Vengeance, Millennium Force, Maverick, two rides on dragster including the last train of the day, a ride on raptor, blue streak, and wicked twister. We left just as the rain began but it was a good day. You just have to do a lot of planning during COVID. Planning to get passes, when to get in line, etc. I’m happy they opened though because I also got my first ride on SkyHawk that Friday and it was awesome. I just Hope next year is normal so I can get in line without needing a pass and having to wear a mask.

My husband and I got married August 1st and us being coaster nuts rushed to Cedar Point for our honeymoon. It was a wonderful park experience! We spent 2 days there staying at Hotel Breakers but really only needed one day since we got every single coaster ride in - no joke! Access passes were super easy to get, employees were super accommodating with everything. I even had my mask fly off on Magnum (which I agree is better than Millennium!) and the ride operator kindly replaced it with a new clean one. Walked on/max waited 20 mins or so for all the coasters. Amazing honeymoon and props to Cedar Point for being so professional and efficient!

I went to cedar point from the 21 to the 23 of July. We stayed at the resort and I loved it. All ride were open all 3 days I got all of the credits beside the one kiddy that you can't ride without a kid. We went as a family of 4 so 2 would go to steel vengeance for passes and two would go to either maverick or top thrill. We ended up having so many passes we started just giving them away. Also a bonus while I was waiting for top thrill their was a roll back witch was fun to see although I had been waiting in line for about 30 minutes and shortly after left due to it being shut down. Overall I was very surprised on how good the ops were, great and fun trip 10/10

You were there the week after my group went. It was a very sunny sunday for us. And probably one of the busier days too. I had very low wait times to get access passes for Vengeance and Force (maybe 5 minutes for each). And the longest we waited in an actual line was about an hour on Steel Vengeance and Magnum. I noticed a lot of people would have their masks on under their noses (I wore 2 masks that day, just to be extra) but I was happy at how often and sternly the line workers were asking people to put them on or move above their noses. Had a great conversation with one of the line workers on Steel Vengeance about, "as the season went on, people were complying with distancing in the lines more." Had two great near-back rides on Millennium Force and Magnum, but the cherry on top of this trip was my back row ride on Steel Vengeance. Easily my number 1 coaster now, the forces on the first drop are amazing and the whip on each of the inversions was intense and I can't wait to go on it again next year.
We overall had an amazing experience, almost every coaster was operating that day (corkscrew was testing when we got in but I don't think I ever saw it run), I thought it seemed crowded but there was always plenty of space to move about while still maintaining 6ft. apart. While waiting in-line for magnum, I heard GP to Enthusiasts voice over the intercom, but I couldn't find him for an air-HighFive when I was in the queue. One other plus was that we waited no longer than 5 minutes for any flat ride so we got a chance to hit up almost every ride in the park.
Overall, I think Cedar Point did an excellent job on our trip there and I'm excited to try and hit up multiple cedarfair parks next year (barring any other global catastrophes)

I went July 10th and 11th. Wasn’t able to ride much. Things without access pass had long lines, longer than normal. On the flip side went to Kings Island July 4th and had no issues. Rode Orion 3 times. Longest wait was about 25 minutes for the beast. Had no issues at Hershey twice this summer and it rained when I went to Great Adventure so lines were also minimal.

I was there on Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. It was extremely crowded and we were only able to get on 3 rides (magnum, MF, and raptor), even though we were there from opening to closing. EVERY coaster had over an hour wait (even BS and ID had 75-90 minute waits throughout the whole day.). And even with access passes, getting through the line for Millennium Force took about 45 minutes. We were standing in line for Dragster for like an hour and it closed down due to weather. We also could not get access passes for SteVe and Maverick because the line extended all the way to the entrance to Frontiertown and all of the passes were distributed within the first two minutes. Then we stood in line for 2 hours for Raptor and had to leave. So overall, not the most pleasant visit I’ve had. But hey, at least they’re open!

I've been 3 times so far this year. My only complaint is I've had the opposite experience from you getting passes for the 4 big coasters. Only pass I've managed to get was one for Millennium Force. Luckily I got a walk on for Steel Vengeance anyway. I haven't been there right at open though so that is probably why, but the 3:30 passes are nearly impossible to get. Other than that it's been a fantastic experience so far, and season passes being good through the end of next year is a very welcome surprise!

I went to Cedar Point from July 28th through August 1st, and it was amazing. The Covid procedures made me feel very safe, and I ended up getting 12 rides on Steel Vengeance (if you just get in line in the morning you don't need an access pass for the first hour. but you lose all of the other access pass rides till 3) I had one rainy day which kinda killed capacity and didn't end up clearing out the park. But I had some really fantastic rides on the coasters. Except Magnum, I got a terrible, artimeless ride there. I even got ejector off Valravn, which is something I wasn't expecting at all. I also had a really fun ride on Rougarou. Overall, most of the coasters either met or exceeded my expectations, I only ever got one back-row SteVen ride. All the others were row 9, 1, or random (mostly row 9 though) I can't wait to go again next year, and I'm hoping they end up having more of a season.

I went to CP for a three-day weekend just before Labor Day (first time visiting). It would have been a four-day trip, but it rained torentially on Monday, so I decided to skip out and head home. I made it on every operating coaster, which over the course of the weekend included Gemini and Rougarou. The problem I encountered was that the longer I was there, the harder it was to get on rides. Because the access passes are distributed on the basis of how many people could theoretically ride each day, every delay in operations slowly increases the length of the stand-by line for those four rides. By Sunday evening I ended up waiting 2.5 hours for my final ride on Steel Vengeance while my 2-hour locker reservation expired. There was no way to know the length of the line from the outside, and once you've gotten into line you've spent your access pass, so you might as well stay. Hopefully we'll be rid of the need for the access passes by next season, or at least I hope CP will start reporting the length of the stand-by line for the rides that require passes.

I went with my bro and his wife for 2 days during the second full week of opening. Overall we thought they did a fantastic job. If you got in line right at 10, you didn't need an access pass for the big four so we were able to get rides on SV and MF first thing before getting access passes. Additionally the last hour of the day we did not need access passes so we were able to marathon Maverick and SV at the end of the day.
The staff did a great job accommodating our row requests and with enforcing protocol. Other guests were really mindful of distancing/queue lines too! Only frustrating thing was how long it took some rides to go through the cleaning procedure (Maverick being the main offender). They were wiping down seat and sending them empty as opposed to just spraying like they seem to be doing now.
In the end we got a great ride count of
    SV - 5
    Mav - 3
    TTD - 3
    MF - 3
    Val - 2
    Raptor - 3
    Gate - 3

We visited 3 days in early August, before the end of daily ops. Stayed at Breakers as usual. Hotel experience was mostly unchanged.
All 3 days had excellent weather, and all 3 were very busy (weekdays). We made it work with the access passes, rode SV to start each day in the 11am standby line. They did a nice job overall, although I much prefer Kings Island's 30 minute interval train cleaning, which was much faster as it did NOT include cycling the train empty after the wipe down.
I applaud the park for opening and eventually getting all major rides open, on our 3 days all coasters operated, even the ones that were closed on your day.
For us, the biggest negative by far was the early line close, which has never been a thing at CP and still isn't at Kings Island this year. We observed Valravn closed 1 hour before park close all 3 days, Raptor about 45 minutes. I hope very much that policy does not continue when (hopefully) more normal ops return.

If you're still reading these...Try to hit up Cedar Point opening week, or even opening day. My last trip to Cedar Point was during opening week, and they were still tuning Maverick up, the first couple of days it was running REALLY hot. Just a few extra MPH does a LOT for that ride. After a few days, they toned it down, and it was very noticeable. Every other time we rode it, it just wasn't the same...Side note, this trip was quite a few years back, it was the last year Mantis was still Mantis and before Gate Keeper was around, so they may have dialed in Maverick to a T, even for opening day.

I went in early August. I had a similar experience with the access pass system. It felt a bit unnecessary and the attendants were giving them out freely the entire day. I was able to get at least two passes for each ride at each of the distribution times. I felt safe from Covid throughout the day, mostly due to the park having much less people than normal. Loved Dragster and Maverick as usual. Gatekeeper did a good job being nothing more than eye candy. Vengeance was the best coaster there as expected. I have to disagree with magnum being better than millennium, although it might have to do with seats. I sat in the second row of Magnum and had the most violently painful ejector I’ve ever experienced. Coupled with stapling and myself being very tall leaving my knees high up into the lap bar and it made skyrush look like a pleasant stroll. Millenniums first drop will always put it up in my top 20. Gemini is easily one of the most underrated rides at the park. It was great. Didn’t get to ride raptor or twister. Valraven is one of the worst coasters at the park. Low forces, bad dive, long queue for a short ride. It’s dive gimick isn’t that good and that feels like the only reason it’s at the park. It’s just another gatekeeper. I fight others that valraven sucks. All in all a fantastic trip. As an Ohio native who gets to go once a year it’s a privilege to get to ride all these rides. Except valraven

They handle it surprisingly well. For the access pass, you just have to get into one line and then into the other at Steel Vengeance and Maverick. Honestly, I thought they handled the weather worse than the pandemic.

I went to cedar point around 4 days ago, it was really bad, we got there sat 10:30 and only got passes for 2 roller coasters. We rode like 2 roller coasters because the lines were huge. After that we got to steel vengeance at 2:00 for our 2-3 time. The line took to long, we got out at 4:00, missing our time for maverick and the time to get other passes. We only rode 1 more coaster before the park closed at 8:00.

Glad your experience was better than mine. Went 9/05/20 and was only able to ride 5 rides even though I was there from 12 pm to 8 not including me leaving for an hour to get food. Multiple rides were down and multiple rides went down during the day. Lines for access passes were 100+ people deep so I didn't even bother getting in line for one. I'll have to come back next year when hopefully things have passed with this pandemic to experience Cedar Point correctly. I think the only measure that really irked me is sometimes trains were not even filled to half capacity thus increasing wait times.

I went to Cedar Point in the last week of July. I must say, their operations were kind of sucky. Lots of stacking, slow train checks, etc. For example, lines for Valravn, Raptor, GateKeeper, Magnum, and MaXair were 30+ mins (but mostly in the 45-60 min range). However, my spending of two days there, I got at least 1 ride on everything and 2 rides on some of the top coasters. My second day, SV was down for most of the day, but for some odd reason, they opened it up in the final 90 minutes of the park being opened. Luckily, my group noticed so we snagged a back seat ride on SV. It was also unusual how at the final hour or so of the park being opened, they just let people on with no access pass whatsoever. So I snagged another ride on Maverick and Millenium. So I must say, it was a good experience for me, seeing as it was my first time there.

Hey! I was there with my kid and fiance that day! (To be fair, we go about once a week or so during the summer xD)
We have gone a total of 11 times this year, and have had a wonderful experience each and every time! We have the season pass with drinks & dining so we always get to enjoy 2 meals from any of the fine eateries they offer. And we have not had a day where we rode less than 6 rides, and those low-ride-count days were all early in the season before they had many rides open consistently.

My visit was on a Wednesday during the last week of July. Made it on everything I wanted to minus Top Thrill Dragster since it was closed most of the day for high winds, which is stupid since that's likely to happen a lot being next to Lake Erie and I didn't understand why they weren't trying to keep running it. Otherwise, I made it on all the coasters that were closed the day you were there minus Blue Streak and Corkscrew. Magnum XL-200 wasn't as enjoyable for me because the yellow lap bar stapled during the drop and the rest of the ride wasn't as enjoyable, but the coaster is still legendary. It was surprisingly busy enough to where I didn't ride any coaster more than once, but I still appreciated having the chance to go this past summer.

One of the days I went in late July was supposed to have a storm around 2-2:30 and when we arrived there was no one there and they weren't handing out access passes. We got on millennium then had walk ons for Rougarou and back to back Gatekeeper and short waits for Raptor, Valravn and MaxAir. Storm came when we were in line for SteVe but for three hours we got a lot done

  • @gtlance101
    @gtlance101 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I went the day after you on the 29th. The weather was windy but otherwise great and park was initially not that crowded. I managed to Get Maverick, and Millennium Force passes in the morning, and they were letting people on Dragster because it opened later than the other rides to wait for the wind to die down.
We skipped SteVe because the line for the passes was atrociously long on both times, it went out past several buildings in frontier-town, and I wanted to avoid crowds as much as possible. At about 1 or 2 the park really got busy, all the walkways were relatively crowded, and it almost looked like the pandemic was a forgotten part of history. All the rides after 2pm had roughly 90 minute waits. I want to clarify that because of the staffing issues the park has had, i think Cedar Point seemed more crowded than it actually was: all the flat rides and some of the coasters being closed means that the small number of people in the park are concentrated into the few rides that are open, hence the wait. In the line for Rougarou we spoke with a ride op about how things were running this season; he told us that he had only been trained for Rougarou about 3 days prior, and had only gotten hired and started on Iron Dragon in late July. The stacking of rides was also fairly long, I waited on the break run on Raptor for example for 10 full minutes after my ride had finished to actually go back into the station to unload, similar story with Gatekeeper. To me it seemed like the ops were doing the best they could with the high crowds and limited ride capacity, but the operators are not at the Cedar Point efficiency I have seen in previous years.
Final ride tally was one ride on all of the following: Valraven, Maverick, Dragster, Millennium Force, Gemini, Raptor, Rougarou, Gatekeeper. I'm happy I went, but I would rather wait until next year to go back, when the park has more time to find adequate staffing and get operations up to speed again. 7/10 from me.

Got more rides in than I did. NEVER GO TO CEDAR POINT ON A HOLIDAY WEEKEND!!! Saturday September 5 was my recent visit and I've managed to get on Magnum, Vengeance (my number 2) and Maverick between 1130am & 2pm. I had afternoon passes for Dragster and M-Force but when my time came, Dragster (& Gatekeeper) was down and M-Force had an hours-long wait. Didn't ride anything since. May do a revisit later this month before the Amtrak train that goes to Sandusky goes to 3x a week. But I still had a good time there nonetheless.

Also, I took my son in law on August 6th. We felt safe there. Safer than the grocery store. Employees were awesome. All the staff did a great job enforcing the rules and, for the most part, attenders stuck to those rules. I in no way am saying masks shouldn't be required. I full agree with mandatory masks. However, as an asthmatic, I underestimated my ability to wear one all day. Thankful, I took several different ones. I started the day with a neck gaiter and found it stifling I also tried a fabric on and ended up just wearing a surgical mask, while pulling my neck gaiter up while on coasters so I didn't lose the surgical mask. I won't attempt another trip with the mask mandate in place, but that is due to MY health issues. I think CP and all staff are doing an amazing job during an unprecedented, very difficult situation. Kudos to them.

Every visit was definitely a different experience and I still haven’t ridden Valravn, Blue Streak, or Corkscrew yet. However, I knew from the get go that I was just grateful to be able to enjoy some “normal” entertainment for the summer. I took a friend in early July who had never been to the park before and she had a great experience despite all the complaints from us regulars. Even during Covid, the park is still better than many Six Flags parks were pre-covid (Six Flags America, lol).

I went to CP a few weeks after opening, one thing I was able to do that no TH-camr ever mentioned was that if you get in line for one of the big 4 before they hand out passes (meaning I never got one at all) and just went straight to the que, you could get on without a pass for the first hour until the 12 O’clock passes came rolling in. So few people knew about this to the point that I got 6 rides on Steel Vengeance with no more than a 5 minute wait every time. It’s worth noting that I only did this on Steel Vengeance so I don’t know if it works for all 4 but it’s worth a try. Also just another tip if anybody does go to CP but fails to get any passes they want them just go to said ride about 5 minutes before another hour slot opens. So like 5:55 or something like that, and ask if you can get on and they may just let you. Other than that Airtime Thrills basically said all there is to say about the system.

    Saturday’s are absolutely terrible.

As a local, I go to Cedar point almost every weekend. Although it’s still fun and all, the lines are just absolutely ridiculous on crowded days because of the every other row it’s cutting the capacity in half. For popular rides like Valraven and even raptor you’re waiting over two hours which is just horrible. Not to mention the fact that we waited in line for access passes and by the time we got upfront they were all out. I think they have a good idea to keep everyone safe I just don’t know if they’re approaching it the right way.

The positive to the access passes is that it ensured that I could get on steel vengeance guaranteed without having a 200 minute wait as a road block. Now Kings Island is closer to my heart and I love it with all my heart but cedar point is just better. It’s like how steel vengeance is the best coaster I’ve ridden while Orion is my personal favorite! I went on a gorgeous august day and my friend and I had a blast! I love having this park 2.5 hours away! Columbus is coaster heaven! You were very lucky you went on Friday the 28th, and not Saturday the 29th. I don't think they maintained the max pandemic cap. Ragouragou was a 2 hour line; Valravn hit 3 hours, Gatekeeper was 2 hours as well as Raptor. Magnum XL200 was 1 1/2 hours; even Gemini was 1 q 1/2 hours. We first got our tickets at millennium Force and then tried to get tickets at Top Thrill Dragster, but by the time we got there it was done, no more tickets. The park looked like a normal day - very crowded!
To get on Steel Vengeance we had to wait in a long long line. Luckily we found out the ride was broken and they didn't know when was going to open up. So we decided to go in the line for Maverick. We waited 30 minutes to get our tickets. When we arrived atbour window, the ride was 2 hours long. The line went outside the ride well into the park area. I think the line was even longer than 2 hours! Even non roller coaster rides were longer than one hour such as that Tidal Wave and Skyhawk big swing. this is unfair being that the capacity is dropped but they didn't drop the capacity for people to come in the park. I couldn't believe it. And my kids were extremely disappointed because they dreamed of going on Maverick and Steel Vengeance. Sadly, we decided not to return the next day and drive home 6 1/2 hours back home. This was a huge disappointment!!!!

My Millennium Force experience this year was the same as yours. It just doesn't seem to have any power with half empty trains, although I finally greyed out on the first turn. Unfortunately, my Magnum experience was awful. I actually hated my 2 rides on it this time. Maverick & Gatekeeper were better than ever, SV was as great as before, TTD still mind blowing. My Raptor rides were the best I've ever had on it, first time not getting headbanging. I had pre-purchased Fast Lane Plus in February, so I used one on my day here. That way, I didn't need access passes, and I got 10 rides on SV during my 2-hour locker rental, since the FLP line was a walk-on. I also got 7 rides on TTD, which did have a very long regular line, due to being down half the day.

I went to Kings Island for Orion. My experience was mixed. Orion is certainly one of the best coasters I've ridden, and the second best coaster in the state of Ohio behind Steel Vengence. However, Kings Island was super crowded when I was there and people were not being respectful of the social distancing markers. The person behind me for one of my rides said "we're allowed between the 2 markings". And I saw someone get thrown out of the park for not wearing a mask. That said, I got there early and got to be on the first ride of the day on Orion, front row, and since no one else had gotten back there yet the operators let me ride without a mask. I'm probably one of less than 20 people (I'm assuming the construction crew rode it after they finished building it, which was before COVID) that's legally ridden Orion while getting to take in all the wind (and it was awesome).

By then it was close to 3 so I got on line for an access pass for Millie and after waiting for a while they told everyone in line that due to the approaching storm they wouldn’t be handing out access passes.
