Becky's review is very honest. Imran seems a bit biased end of the day his the one who went out and bought the G80 so that explains itself. The truth is who wants a soft 'M' car? especially a M3. Can understand if this was an M5. But an M3 has to be BRUTAL.

Unbelievable how ugly the G80 is when compared to the F80. The arches on the G80 look so deformed. The entire car looks so forced. G80 is like that girl in the corner who is trying really hard to impress someone.
@@EvolveAutomotive that was an awesome video. Interesting to note (please correct me if I am wrong) - the G80 probably because of the torque converter gearbox and the massive increase in weight shows only marginal improvements in performance to the F80 (0-100 for example). One question: why the massive weight gain BMW? This goes beyond design aesthetics (granted the G80 design makes it look like it has gained weight over the F80).
F80 suffered from the idea that stiff = good handling. A proper suspension has suppleness that helps keep the car composed and planted. G80 suggests BMW is starting to realize that.
But that is only true for the first model years. There is an important info missing on what model year this F80 is and if it is an Competition model or not. Makes a lot of difference in driving dynamics, traction, steering etc.
100%. Additionally the GTS tunes for the EDC/Diff/Steering completely transforms the F80 Comp into something even better. Beyond the GTS flash I think the front monoball upgrade and some nice coils will get it exactly where I want it. @@shekk0r
7:33 What a fantastic way of demonstrating the difference between the two cars. Nice to see how powerful and effortless the G80 is in comparison to the F80 🔥
The g80 m3 feels more planted because its nearly 300kg heavier hence more usable power . I picked my f80 m3 cs over the new g80 comp based on looks abs the fact I didn’t want my car weighing 1800kg as opposed to 1500kg from the f80 which insane to say they only increased power from 450bhp to 510bhp !
That was really enjoyable to watch. Completely get the comments on the F80 chassis, I've had more than a few heart stopping moments in my F82 and even in the dry you can sometimes struggle to get power down (and thats stock!). Confidence inspiring is not a phrase that comes to mind with the F82 and thats with fresh Michelin PSS on too. Surely a car that drives this well could have been more attractively designed. The departure from the classic BMW design elements is jarring. As the owner of an F80 M3 Competition I was dismayed at the looks of the G80. In my country (short distances, slow speeds, massive car prices) the way the G80 looks is a huge deterrent to purchasing unfortunately. I can attest to the F80's "dangerous" feel - however, that makes it different to so many other BMWs. I also own a pre-LCI 7 series (which I feel is better than the PCI not only in appearance (but the 7 series LCI grille is still not as abhorrent as that on the G80) but also in things like the idrive (which is really poor on the LCI). Really good comparison video you can really see the difference when you were both pedalling it in terms of steering input, will be interesting to see how well the G80 responds to tuning to see it it’s still as compliant 😉
Great Feature - Really enjoyed this. My thoughts- I saw the new M3/M4 in the flesh at a BMW dealership- the size is physically bigger - much closer in size to the F10 M5 and its running wider front tyres than the F80... Hence it will feel better planted

So I must say I am not a man pig but I found myself watching Becky more than the cars. I really appreciate both perspectives! I have commented on the suspension vid with the MSS springs on my X3M Comp! I l am so excited about the G80 but I love the I drive 6 and regular tach and main gauges in the 2020 X3M's. I recently came this close to trading in my Stinger and X3M for a 19" Nardo Grey M5 and one factor was the same gauges and I drive in the 19' M5. I will miss this setup that was in few cars for a short time! I am so comfortable operating it. The new BMW I drive 7 and reverse tach are not up to Audi or Mercades as far as intuitiveness and quality IMO. I love both your input on all aspects!
the real question is fun factor, if you want straight line speed get tesla or dodge, for grip sure any AWD or mid engine will be better. M3 buyers are looking for something that you have to handle with care otherwise you could find yourself in trouble and that is beauty of it.
Speed Yellow is a great color, have it on my F80 Competition 👍 Nice video but Becky is not spot on the transmission. The ZF is slower in shifting, quite big difference. Check new Carwow video, in rolling race downshifting the ZF looked really slow.
Very different driving experiences, best advice would be go and get yourself a test drive. The F80 will have much less grip and more drama than the GTR.
Im confused...when becky mentions the feature on G80 holding the throttle down and then flick paddle once, then the car picks the lowest gear to snap to, the F series also does that too? as i used to have an M4, its not a new feature, even my old 435d did it. I gotta say i much prefer the ZF box when i changed to my f90 M5 over the DCT in the M4
Yes. Öhlins road and track suspension, engine map of cs or a mild stage 1, if it is mostly street use, i would not go for michelin cup2 tyres rather goodyear eagle f1 supersport or maybe michelin ps4s, and one size wider tyres front and rear. If that cannot match stock rims just go aftermarket like apex wheels. I have these mods with my m2 and it is a totally different car now.
Becky your F80 should also downshift to the lowest gear unless this was introduced for comp pack? On mine hold downshift and foot all the way to the floor and will drop to the lowest gear
Great video Imran . I also get her argument that the ZF changes quicker because it’s so seamless . I often thought this when we had a M140 in the family and I had my E92, I preferred the ZF , fabulous gearbox so I can only imagine that this is even better . Just my personal opinion . I like Becky , comes across very well and clearly loves cars.
Have to disagree, there’s no longer a “slam it home” setting such as mode 5 on the e92 DCT. Every change is brutal which adds to the occasion and makes it super fun. Yet knock it down a few modes and it becomes nice and smooth if you want. I also find that the ZF can be slow to change right at the redline.
@@sanmarino_cs1698 I get where you’re coming from , dct in the 92 does add to the drama . I assume the software in the new G80 must be better than the conventional ZF at the red line though?.
Ross Monkhouse Well I cant speak for the G80 as such but in the F90 M5 which I’d assume is the same exact box, it Definately does it. Not sure what it is really. There’s just something a bit frustrating about the ZF, for me personally anyways 👍
The G80 is ugly and heavy. No doubt it will be tuneable and will make good numbers but BMW has lost their way. Since when has an M3 been praised as being softer and more controllable?!!? That F80 will put more smiles per mile than the fat/boring G80.
I previously owned an F80 and currently own an E92 and always felt the F80 was rather numb and soft compared to the E92 although I still love the F8X. If the F80 feels raw compared to the G80 then no thanks!
The G80 is so well balanced and has incredible traction. It’s difficult to get the backend out on the G80, you really have to try to break the tires loose.
Wow this is really surprising. It’s almost the opposite of Joe Achilles’ assessment - on the mini-track he described the F82 as being more composed. Maybe the Competition package made the difference?? Thanks for this video 💪
So the new m3 is pretty much an m5... Same size and power as the e60 similar starting prices, mostly mature but can be fun when needed. Just sounds like what an m5 is meant to be
Yes! I was waiting for this vid. I personally think the G80 is a better car all around. Looks are always a matter of personal preference. I personally like that BMW M took the risk and changed it up. I absolutely love the color on that G80 :) Also, great drone and side by side shots!
Hey Imran it would also be good to do a fully stock F80 vs G80. I noticed her is modified - tires, wheels and suspension can really effect how the car feels around the bens.
It’s Imran. Had no suspension changes just wheels. Not the easiest to find a launch F80 that’s completely standard, plus this being Becky’s actual car she’s used to it and was a good base for the comparison.
That was a fun drive on a nice country road but you are driving on the wrong side 😂 The Yellow beast front end looks way better but love the Oxide color✌️ Let’s rumble 💪
Watching your reviews and a few other peoples opinion on the G80 M3 a few people have mentioned the engine bay, will evaero/eventuri be redesigning the strut brace for a carbon one like in the f series?

I previously owned an F80 and currently own an E92 and always felt the F80 was rather numb and soft compared to the E92 although I still love the F8X. If the F80 feels raw compared to the G80 then no thanks!
The G80 is so well balanced and has incredible traction. It’s difficult to get the backend out on the G80, you really have to try to break the tires loose.
Wow this is really surprising. It’s almost the opposite of Joe Achilles’ assessment - on the mini-track he described the F82 as being more composed. Maybe the Competition package made the difference?? Thanks for this video 💪
On Joe's video they could push both cars harder because they had a track. You can't get a full on the limit comparison on the road..
the Competition makes a massive difference
@@peterhammer6915 yeah it seems so! The competition package might be a bargain but they seem hard to finder to find than I expected
I was thinking the same about Joe Achilles video. Half throttle she was saying 😅
@@peterhammer6915 In what way?
So the new m3 is pretty much an m5...
Same size and power as the e60 similar starting prices, mostly mature but can be fun when needed. Just sounds like what an m5 is meant to be
Good job guys thanks
I love the g80 grille looks really mean
Great vid! 👍
Great video 🔥
Yes! I was waiting for this vid. I personally think the G80 is a better car all around.
Looks are always a matter of personal preference. I personally like that BMW M took the risk and changed it up. I absolutely love the color on that G80 :)
Also, great drone and side by side shots!
The ZF shifts are faster than the M-DCT?
Compared to early F80 M3 yes. The comment was mainly based on going in to reverse which DCT has always lagged on.
@@EvolveAutomotive I see
Why does the f80 follow the camber on the road imron?
Hey Imran it would also be good to do a fully stock F80 vs G80. I noticed her is modified - tires, wheels and suspension can really effect how the car feels around the bens.
It’s Imran. Had no suspension changes just wheels. Not the easiest to find a launch F80 that’s completely standard, plus this being Becky’s actual car she’s used to it and was a good base for the comparison.
Sorry Sir :-) Imran no worries! Great video. Totally understand! Looking forward to more videos.
That was a fun drive on a nice country road but you are driving on the wrong side 😂 The Yellow beast front end looks way better but love the Oxide color✌️ Let’s rumble 💪
Great video, good comparaison, high quality video...Ramadhan Mubarak good job.
Great video content withe split screen and comments while driving. More of that please. Is squiggly a professional car term?
Thanks and yes it is now. We just made it a professional term 😜
The ZF shifts are definitely not quicker. Zero knowledge
Yes they are. Fact.
@@BeckyEvans excuse me Rebecca the customer is always right. Me been the customer of youtube.
Excellent video!
Excellent vid
Watching your reviews and a few other peoples opinion on the G80 M3 a few people have mentioned the engine bay, will evaero/eventuri be redesigning the strut brace for a carbon one like in the f series?
Potentially, intake first, initial prototype is close 👀
@@EvolveAutomotive carbon strut with your carbon intakes will be a true transformation 👌
Great rational video from both views :-) Great stuff
