Finally more a-ha. I think the best is yet to come: Manhattan Skyline, Hunting high and low, Stay on these roads, Summer moved on, Lifelines, I've been losing you...
This album is one of the best 80's synth pop ones with every track a solid song. Dereck should have done a whole album reaction but can do each single in order and he won't be disappointed.
I love this band. And this album. Used to listen to it every day all day, after school. Please react to Hunting high and low. Fantastic song, and the music video is absolutely beautiful.
It's one of the songs I love most about A-ha, it reminds me of a moment in a child's and happy life. The arrangement of the song and that voice of Morten, for God's sake.
A-ha's Hunting High and Low was the first album I ever bought in my life. I was fourteen and I wore out the tape by listening to it on repeat thousands of times. So happy you're reacting to A-ha's songs! They're a high quality band. I've been following them for thirty years
I love all aha songs and music videos, they are awesome and very original, I remember watching this video a hundred times and never got tired of it, lol, thanks for the cool reaction.
A-ha's Morten has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard. I'm a big Duran Duran fan (also underappreciated with better songs than their popular hits) but I looove A-ha too!
Their catalogue is amazing and so are their live performances. Some of my favourites: The Swing of Things, I've Been Losing You, Out of Blue Comes Green, Summer Moved On
this is taking me back to the 80s. ive been an aha fan since i was 16 years old i’m 51 now. very underrated band tons of great songs 20 albums to choose from. thanks for playing aha. check out hunting high and low, ive been losing you, cry wolf, manhattan skyline to name a few. 🎤🎬🎼👍🏻🤟🏻❤️🏴😘
"I've been loosing you" is my absolute favourite of theirs. I also enjoy " Move to Memphis", "The living daylights", "Manhattan skyline" and several others.
Is good to see the new generations " discovers " the music of our 80s era. A-ha was one of my fav groups in the 80s ^ 90s. If you liked this group, try : The blood that moves the body - I've been losing you - The living daylights - Stay on these roads - Crying in the rain - Lifelines - Forever not yours
Their first album “Hunting high and low” is one of the best albums of the 80’s. There is not a single bad song on that record. They were massive in Europe and even more famous in South America. They had so many hits throughout their still active career. A big influence to Coldplay apparently.
Those are pretty high up there for me, too. The Blood That Moves the Body, Move to Memphis, I Call Your Name, Stay on These Roads and even The Living Daylights are my other ones.
The Sun also has that high BPM going on. It was pre-techno, but it was so much more "kick ass" than Depeche Mode and the same type of synth based rock from the UK.
This is the second track on Hinting High & Low …… Love the band and recommended many tracks of theirs on the other videos and can’t wait to see themnext May live with a full 32 piece orchestra !!!
I own every a-Ha CD, and bought them through imports back when Amazon was still small. They're great and why they didn't sell more in the US I don't get but at least other countries recognized their talend.
A-ha is the most talented amazing band... I have been following them since the beginning, since 1985. I just saw them perform again in Mexico City on 2 April 2022... they are touring this year 2022.
Hello Derek, I love watching how you love and appreciate these artists. I'm from Australia, and it's wonderful how music transcends nationalities. Bless you sweet man. 🖤🐱🖤
A-ha, one of the most brilliant underrated bands ever! Hunting High And Low, Stay On These Roads, I've Been Losing You, Scoundrel Days, The Swing Of Things, Love Is Reason, We're Looking For The Whales, Velvet and Summer Moved On (Live at the Valhall is the best version!!!) ...just to mention a few of their greats!
This is my favourite release of theirs and I love them all. My favourite track that was unreleased was The Blue Sky. On the amazing Hunting High & Low album.
That s what the 80s were.. A decade of amazing artists, who could concentrate excellent pop work in 3 minutes songs... And by the sentence "they owned the 80s"..you may check Pet Shop Boys as well, a unique Duo, which released Masterpieces one by one for ages
Please react to A-ha's title song to the James Bond film The Living Daylights from 1987: th-cam.com/video/E4BZumraKXU/w-d-xo.html The music video, which was directed by Steve Barron, was shot at the 007 Stage in London, which was built specifically for the James Bond franchise. It features various scenes from the film projected on to the band as they perform in the empty 007 Stage. Separate footage from the movie itself is shown, along with footage from the film traced out and inserted to the footage of the band performing, which was a groundbreaking, and expensive innovation at that time.
😂 Dereck? Do you like how they laid down pipe in this song? 🤣 OMG! Too funny! But, so glad to see your reaction to another excellent a-ha rack off their brilliant “Hunting High and Low” album. So, this is the third track you’ve reacted to from this album and you’ve had a positive reaction to all of them. Hopefully you’ll react to what I feel is another stand out song from the album titled “Love Is Reason” which would be fun to see if you lose your bananas to. 😂
I love your enthusiastic A-ha reactions 😊 As a Norwegian who’s been a fan of A-ha for so many years, it warms my heart to see reactions not only to «Take on me». I hope you will react to more A-ha. Try ««Foot of the mountain» th-cam.com/video/m36SBHLmYXc/w-d-xo.html (from 2009). and «Cast in steel» th-cam.com/video/fjgMot2CDaU/w-d-xo.html from 2015 and you’ll see they have kept their sound since the 80’s. A-ha was very popular around Europe and even more popular in South-America (Brazil especially). They actually had the Guiness world of records of most paying attendance at an outdoor concert (198.000) in «Rock in Rio» in 1991. Artists like Guns’n Roses, Prince, INXS, Run DMC, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Faith no more, George Michael/Wham, Judas Priest, NKOTB etc...played at the same festival but A-ha drew the most attendance. They have been around for almost 40 years (their latest album was released in 2015). They have so many amazing songs and have kept their famous sound for all these years. Btw Morten Harket started the leather armwrist band trend, teared jeans and leather look 😉 What you may not know is that U2, Radiohead, Leonard Cohen, The Killers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, Pitbull and Coldplay are among the ones admitting to be A-ha fans and some bands have also told that A-ha was an inspiration for their music (Coldplay, Keane, The Killers..as you can hear by their sound). .
Unbelievable but true. Many Americanm chart compilers consider a-ha a one hit wonder that only had "Take On Me". Shocking butb true in an americocentric world and point of view
Well 2 hit singles wonder, as: The Sun Always Shines on TV was a hit in the US but after that had no more! And their album: Hunting High + Low was a hit album for them in the US!
In 1995, Morten started a solo career. 'Heaven's Not For Saints (Let It Go)' & 'A Kind Of Christmas Card' are 2 outstanding songs you'd love. Trust me :)
Forgot how good this one was! I was obsessed with A-ha when I was a little girl. Try: Hunting High and Low, Manhatten Skyline, I've Been Losing You, Stay on These Roads, and It's Never a Forever Thing. I've seen Morten Harket Live a few times and his vocals are just as good live as they are recorded.
So fun to see first reactions to songs that I grew up with. Aha was epic in the mid 80s and outwards into the mid 90s. Every album got its diamonds, small gems of pop music. But yes, this one is HIGHNRG with an incredibly BPM. Mortens vocals is as usual GREAT. The pipeworks is synth I would think, so you got that one right. Still, quite unusual for its time. This was pre-panpipe elevator music, that was kinda trashy. Can't be compared to what Aha output though. There is some majestic tones going on, I always feel "this is so futuristic" when I heard it. Still feels like dat.
Dereck, you should investigate the Spanish group 'Fangoria', disco pop that evolved out of the goth/punk/alternative movements of the 70s/80s. You'll love it!!!
If the pandemic allow it, i have a ticket to their consert in april 22 at Oslo Spectrum. It`s delayed, cos they should played earlier this year. I have been on 2 conserts with them the last 5-6 years in Oslo, one acustic and one normal, and they are still as good as they were in the 80`s. His Voice its perfect live, maybe one of the best i`ve heard in my life, his falsetto is of another world :-)
The Rotoscope work here was the original work that led the video for Take On Me. This was the Graduate piece for the two artusts who did the hand drawn animation for Take On Me. I think it's called Rush Hour..
Since I think you've done Manhattan Skyline I think you need to do Stay On These Roads. I think the synths on that will blow you away, maybe Crying In The Rain as well (have you done Hunting High And Low, I think you have or I'd have said that one next). What an amazing band. Would love to hear more Pet Shop Boys, maybe Suburbia is worth a listen to.
Oh, and listen to You Are The One, and their title song to the James Bond film of the same name Living Daylights. I think you'll love these. It would also be nice to see you react to some of their live performances of you can at some stage. Just loved the synth, the vocals, the energy of these songs, but they seemed to be quite deep as well at times, even if the songs were simple, something that's very hard to pull off imo.
If you want to see some really good voice work by Morton check out songs off Analogue and Minor Earth, Major Sky such as Cozy Prisons, Analogue, Summer Moved On, You Will Never Grt Over Me. Different styles but such good songs. Analogue is my favorite A-Ha album but they are a criminally underrated band. Morton is one best singers ever imo.
I respect all kind of music but this it,s more than music it,s a experience of life I lived that music , part of my life like sandra , spandau ballet , mr mister , taylor dayne , phill collins , simple red , pet shop boys , depeche mode , the cure , etc so I need a DeLorean right now

Yes I’ve Been Losing You is a must!
There's "Hunting High and Low" from Stratovarius too. But with an other style... !
"Living A Boy's Adventure Tale" , "Scoundrel Days" or "The Swing Of Things" : 3 other gems.....
This album is full of breathtaking bangers.
Living A Boy’s Adventure Tale is an underrated fairy tale of a tune, check it out!
Always loved it...same with "here i stand and face the rain"
I agree with both of you.
And here I stand and face the rain
That entire album was a masterpiece

Finally !!! A-ha have so many great songs !! Do more !
You need to check out "Hunting High and Low" next, their big big ballad.
