You’re right, there’s a lot to think about but not excessive and you’ve made it easy to understand. Another excellent FREE lesson from a top coach! Many thanks!
I love this tip! But my question is this: why can't I preset my weight on my left side and then swing down and through, keeping my left hip closer to the target as I wing through?
Any keys or tips to not over do the movements? (Ex: to keep from shifting too far forward when the upper center would be on top of or in front of the ball causing too low of a launch, or to keep from moving up too soon and catching the ball low on the clubface?)
Question, Chris: Obviously the golf swing is a mix of the vertical and the horizontal. Should the backswing be perpendicular to the spine angle in all cases (which would be a different spine angle for a sand wedge than for a driver)? My own problems seem to stem from incremental, barely noticed, shifts that tend from the "verti-horizontal" to the more vertical. Before I know it, I am getting disastrous results (particularly with the driver) because I seem to be incorporating more vertical "feel" to the swing than horizontal. So, I'm tending to come out of posture a bit at the top. It's all very bad stuff until I realize what is wrong, and I "reset". How can I (what feeling is necessary) keep this rotation (assuming I am correct about it) foremost in my mind? I mean, without hypnosis. :)
This is interesting, people say golf is not like baseball but from an energy transfer perspective, it’s very much like a baseball swing. The stepping into your shot, lowering lead foot, twisting and then striking is all pretty much a baseball swing. The only difference is golfers are taught not to step into it..
Shift/rotate with align rod lower on lead side is very shrewd here! It happens quickly & too easy to slide to lead, tilt back, pull left shoulder out of plane!

Really excellent lesson Chris . Well explained . It's helped me already

Is it okay that the head movement ahead of the ball before impact?? Thought the head must stay still
Chris, is the sequence weight shift, arms down, then rotate?

I think my arms initiate the downswing, something that is very tough to change after many years of playing.
I've seen and heard it all now Chris, the squeeky carrot is very amusing though.
Chris, doesn’t thinking of low point forward and underground discourage the pushing up action of the feet?

Dommage que la vidéo n’est pas en français !

Isn’t moving your head forward problematic?
