    Having watched you for several years from down here in NZ, I’ve seen you give this principle several times (speedboat) but this one is the best yet. Well done Chris and congratulations, you are improving all the time. And thank you!

    So I started golf 9 1/2 months ago. I was all over youtube taking everyones advice and tips. I eventually found you Chris and I am so thankful. Whenever you post a new video, I watch it ASAP to get your assistance with whatever the topic is that day. Combining you with a swing coach in person (and trust me, if you were close I'd book you haha) has gotten me to shoot my lowest score ever of an 86! I am not consistently breaking 90 yet, but I have weeks where I break it, then back to low 90s, which I embrace as of now.
    Thank you for being the GOAT of the TH-cam Golf Scene💙

      Stick to watching one instructor. Especially as a beginner because different guys teach different methods and the techniques aren't always compatible. In fact they can be totally conflicting and do more harm than good. Hope this helps

    Nice move. I am returning to golf after a 5 year layoff and concentrating on the feel after getting stuck in the mechanical arena for the last couple of months as I rebuild my swing without stressing my back and/or neck. I finally started feeling the actual swing last week and it ties in directly with what you are showing. It might be awhile before I return to single digits but glad I came across your channel as you illustrate exactly what I was trying to put in play. Thank you.

      I did the same about 3 yrs ago I returned from 5 yrs off. My advice is to stay patient and don't get frustrated. It was tough for me knowing that I used to break par regularly but couldn't break 90 consistently when I first came back. 3 yrs back in now and I'm back to a single digit hdcp and have broke par a few times. I had totally given up on that ever happening again, so if I can do it so can you.

    In the two finger swinging test when do you start the upward pull to get the speed at the bottom, and would you say that same point in space of the club shaft swinging (during a normal golf swing) is a good place to start the upward pull and backward push as well? As an example let's say the shaft of the club is perpendicular to the ground on the downswing when you pull up in the two finger example would you also pull up at the same shaft position on a normal two handed golf swing? Say the hands reach a 9 o'clock position on the downswing and at that point the shaft where is perpendicular to the ground in the swing would you pull up then? Or say optimal pull up position is when the shaft was parallel to the ground with the two finger example, and say the shaft reached the same position when your hands reached 7 or 8 o'clock on the downswing - would you start the upward pull then?

    I was next to a golf pro assistant at range, my ballspeed is way down. He said I don’t have enough hip turn. When I try for more hip turn it’s a disaster, often hit the top of the driver. Gonna be a long season 😂

      Tee it down a bit. Start off with the ball barely peaking over the crown and work your way up over time.
      I tee it up waaaay down when I need to hit a tight fairway or there’s strong winds.

    Would you recommend an extension of this by actually slightly lagging the club head in the takeaway? So the sequence would be body, hands, clubhead.

    Thanks Chris! I feel like I definitely use my arms too much and try to force the club. Probably hitting way harder than I need to without great results . I will try this method out for sure. It feels hard to relax when you feel pressure to do everything right🤣

    was watching this and regarding rory mcilroy “jumping” right before impact, just wondering, is that move considered an early extension move? is that just a result of him slowing his very fast hips to allow his hands to catch up? cheers for the anazing videos!

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No as long as it’s timed well it’s ok, you have to extend to generate power so extension is not a bad move at all, Rory times it perfectly

  • @xerodeus2337
    @xerodeus2337 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    That very last point is interesting, that you press forward and then sort of push back but stay behind the ball. That feels counterintuitive. How do you not over slide forward or stay too far back on the back foot? Would be cool to see a drill just on that mechanism alone. Push down into the ground but stay sort of up and back at contact?

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah agreed that one section could well be a more in depth video. Essentially because the middle of you is behind your lead foot, when you push it pushed you back and up, which in tune moves the grip abs accelerated the club head
      Certainly one to add to the list of videos to film

    • @xerodeus2337
      @xerodeus2337 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ChrisRyanGolf yeah! And maybe another discerning part of that video is with irons we still push down into that lead foot to generate power but we don’t fall back as much (I don’t think) because we want to hit more down on the ball. So how to keep those two things in mind. And then how do you blend the two with fairway woods? That’s how my mind thinks about it at least and could be totally wrong.

    • @daviddinicola695
      @daviddinicola695 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have been sort of wondering this as I just get into golf and tinker with my swing (never had a golf lesson but likely will soon). I do the slight hitch toward my backfoot at the start of the driver swing which is good, but I'm trying to figure out if & how much I should do this with my irons. I'm thinking slightly less and less as I get into the short irons, but keeping a similar rhythm.
      Guess I should should practice huh

    What do you think of the drill where you setup, cock the wrists up to rest the shaft on the area between your rear shoulder and your head, rotate your shoulders to their end of backswing position, and then extend your left arm out where you get separation between your hands and rear shoulder/head to feel what a good top of swing (with lack of arm abduction) feels like?

    My coach had me do drills for 2 months to get my weight on my lead side and now you are suggesting that I do drills to get my weight on my back foot?
    Is anyone else getting confused from watchung these different coaches on YT?
    Thanks for the video but not sure this drill is for me.
    Cheers✌️

    • @cspicer33ssimons22
      @cspicer33ssimons22 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s true. When you push back on your lead leg, you will move your weight to your trail side. Just like he’s showing. Before it gets to that point though. I counteract the vertical force going backwards, with my trail leg right foot instep or big toe. You have to stop the force from going backwards or you’ll fall over. Something that stops that force is your right leg. This will get you vertical force and rotational force. If you time it right, it will also keep you centered behind the golf ball. Pretty much like a baseball swing. Hope that makes sense
