I know people will say "if this was your family bla bla" the responder even if it was a ambulance could have continued ahead and cut right instead they went behind the white car which clearly had no where to go so that's on them, they created the situation by not thinking ahead which is apart of blue light driving, uniformed officers can take control of traffic and direct vehicles but they have to be out the vehicle and in uniform which this officer was sat in his car with no way of judging risk or directing traffic if needed making it dangerous neither did he give any instructions to the driver in front.
If I knew they wouldn't just Karen on me the very second some minor rule was broken, I'd find a safe way to get out of their way. As it stands though...
The whole "if it were your family" argument I find to be quite, meh... it's one thing for me to decide to go through a light or something in that situation, but I find it unreasonable to expect someone else to do so for me/my family/etc. Unless I want to personally hold the points/fine/punishment that said driver would receive, and if they drive for work (or depend on driving/riding to work), provide an equivalent income for them, that'd be a completely unreasonable expectation for someone else. On the note of bus lanes, if I recall correctly, there was a guidance video explaining that you should not enter a bus lane (that you wouldn't otherwise be entitled to do so) and should instead leave it clear for the emergency vehicle. Tried that once when a police car came behind me (with active but clear bus lane to the left), and they still moved right anyway... (for that, surely, if you're allowed to stop, and unlike active mandatory cycle lanes, park in bus lanes when not otherwise explicitly prohibited to do so, how is it reasonable to issue fines/PCNs for someone who's only entering the bus lane to allow an emergency vehicle to pass, and immediately vacates it when said vehicle passes?)
@fetchstixRHD It's simple - they want to have it both ways. They want you out of the way, even if it breaks other rules, but they also want to fine you over said other rules. Unless and until the law changes, we have to stick to the letter. Just like they do. No exceptions.
This is on the police though. Drivers are not allowed to go through a red light even if an emergency vehicle is behind them trying to get through. What the cop car should have done instead is take the lane to the left (Where there were no cars as the lights were green) and simply turn right through the turning lane or whatever that lane is and pass the traffic lights like that.
Police totally in the wrong . If the car had gone through the red light he would be committing an offence and risk putting himself in danger by emerging onto the other road .

Bullshit, a warranted officer can push you through an ATS at red. They are the only service that are allowed to do so, fire brigade and ambulance service can not.
Rule 219 of The Highway Code states: 'You should look and listen for ambulances, fire engines, police, doctors or other emergency vehicles using flashing blue, red or green lights and sirens or flashing headlights, or Highways Agency Traffic Officer and Incident Support vehicles using flashing amber lights. When one approaches do not panic. Consider the route of such a vehicle and take appropriate action to let it pass, while complying with all traffic signs. If necessary, pull to the side of the road and stop, but try to avoid stopping before the brow of a hill, a bend or narrow section of road. Do not endanger yourself, other road users or pedestrians and avoid mounting the kerb. Do not brake harshly on approach to a junction or roundabout, as a following vehicle may not have the same view as you.' Therefore, as outlined above, if there is an emergency vehicle behind you with its emergency warning signals on, it might be possible for you to manoeuvre out of the way to allow it through. Ideally this should be to the side of the road without encroaching into the main area of the junction (see below). It should only be done when it is safe to do so without putting yourself or other members of the public in danger and it should only be done slowly and carefully. If you do cross the stop line at the junction whilst the lights are on red, you will commit the offence of contravening a red traffic light. It's important to remember that in committing the offence (crossing the stop line) the onus will be on you to provide evidence that you did so to allow an emergency vehicle through. That may be considered as mitigation, but there is no guarantee that it will be. If the police decide to prosecute you for the offence and you choose to challenge that decision, it will ultimately be a matter for a court to decide.

Firstly well done rider for pulling in to allow the police car to pass. Secondly just looking at this junction, I know this is with hindsight, but as an advanced driver with blue light training, I was extremely surprised to see this police officer choose that move, looking ahead there is very little traffic so he should have kept left and easily have taken the little cut through in the wrong direction. I'm assuming he was reasonably local to the area. I can only imagine it was a decision made in the moment. Oh and also why didn't he go up over the central reservation in the opposing lane? Crossing curbs and obstacles without damaging the wheels or vehicle used to be in the training. As mentioned in other comments here the white car has done nothing wrong in staying at the red light but they should have stopped before that as the siren could clearly be heard, so not helping by being unaware of their surroundings. Ride safe and happy.
The police should avoid using their 'bully boy' tactics on an innocent motorists to force him to break the law. They would disappear when he got the court summons. The goons should turn off their silly lights as per the highway code.
Motorcyclist spotted the blue light and pulled over before he became part of the problem. White car apparently didn’t see blue light until he was stopped at the lights. So while anticipation would have been helpful, once in this position white car was right to wait until he had a green light.
While true they pulled over before they were part of the problem, that's only barely, and I'd argue only because they're a motorcycle that they were able to do so.
Car upfront is entirely correct. If he was to have gone through the red light and there was a camera there he is liable for any fines, points etc. The police was more than capable of doing around e.g., going over the curb like they was intending to. Its a shit situation but the points and fine for going through a redlight is no joke.
Nobody ever got done for NOT running a red light in this country. Their own advice tells drivers to do EXACTLY what this car did. The sirens don't suspend the rest of the rules.
Imagine being trusted the uphold the law but not knowing basic road rules. Trying to encourage or force another road user to break road laws is illegal, even if it's the police doing it.
Lol that gave me a good chuckle. Would you mind if i used a few dashcam related clips from your channel in my compilations fully credited and linked to you of course. If not though no worries and have a great weekend :)
The white car was completely right in not moving, if the police wanted him to move then they would have to get out, stop the traffic at the lights then instruct the white car to cross the red light, get back in their car and then carry on. That is the only way you can cross a red light, under direct instruction of a police officer directing traffic..... we'll done you, many would have bowed to the pressure
Only thing the driver could have done was park on the traffic island but that wouldn’t be easy with the Police car up his arse. Police driver didn’t cover himself in glory on this one. The guy couldn’t run a red light!
In South Wales, the cops use only their lights without sirens just to cut through traffic and not wait like everybody else. They stop for red lights, slow down for speed cameras but they don’t care about abusing their positions.
Interesting. That driver would not only be breaking the law by yielding to the harassing police car (if it was one) but quite likely to have caused an accident. In Germany, however, the car would be breaking the law by not complying, I believe, although the fact it wasn't a marked emergency vehicle might be a mitigation. Some other European countries allow drivers to go through red lights with caution if an emergency vehicle is being impeded.
the car driver was correct in not crossing the red light*. The police driver should've been looking for a better way past on his approach to the junction. "You must not pass a red light unless a police officer explicitly says otherwise. People have been fined for crossing red lights to let emergency vehicles past and any appeals get rejected.28 May 2022" - Google. *The Highway Code rule 219 states: Consider the route of such a vehicle and take appropriate action to let it pass, while complying with all traffic signs.
who's at wrong here ultimately depends on the county you're in, the police shouldn't have cancelled their tone if they wanted the car to move, some counties allow a red light jump if forced by emergency services, other counties don't so defo look up your local laws, certainly a tricky situation but well done to the both of them for keeping it civil!
If the Police officers were in uniform, one of them could have exited and directed the front vehicle through the RTL,otherwise 100% correct by the car driver ,not to cross the line, imagine if a car had timed it slightly too late coming the other way and a crash ensued, the police car would have had to wait there. Having said that, there should be some protection in law for vehicles that cross the line on a RTL to allow emergency vehicles a free passage
Here you can go through a red light, over the curb and onto the mayor's lawn. We know now the whole story but what if it was a fire engine? "Oh gosh, I can't break the rules".
The rider could hear the sirens well before the junction. The white car driver should have heard them too and instigated a clear path between the roundabout and junction.... Knowing the light was on red and there wasn't a clear path for the emergency vehicle to pass. It's called thinking ahead. Yes the emergency vehicle could have stuck to the left, but I'm assuming the emergency vehicle thought the white car would move forward enough to let it pass they got themselves in the way. Law or not, the white car was ignorant. Made a mistake got in the way, didn't move out of the way.
Consider the position the motorcycle stopped in: as the Zipcar was further ahead (and accelerated faster), and the place they stopped in was quite close to the narrowing (such that if they were in a car/van, they'd have obstructed the path and needed to make space), this is entirely on the police car for suffering from skill issue.
Where could the driver go….? Happens constantly in Bath due to constrictive cycle lanes… ‘road furniture ‘ and now ‘ring of steel’ anti terrorist bollards Causing delays to many many Ambulances on emergency calls… Cyclist do cause harm
All the people saying 'you can't go through a red light' are idiots, you should have the competence as a driver to be able to assess the situation and that was clearly a safe time to go through the red to allow the police to get past. Honestly the fact that they didn't take action sooner is shocking, the police were noticeable for ages before they stopped.

Should’ve moved immediately, this was an emergency , they were on their way to deal with an alleged social media insult which hurt someone’s feelings
If anything it's the officers fault for not reading the road and not predicting that would happen.
There's been recent cases of people crossing a red to let ambulances through and the police have prosecuted them.
Police obviously had another route they could have taken. Poor forward thinking got them trapped.
I don't think it would have been that hard for the BMW to climb the curb to get around if it was a real emergency call.
I thought the cops were limited to 20 mph like every one else in Wales !
Some drivers don't know what's best. There has been drivers find and had points taken off them for going through the lights
the car driver was correct in not crossing the red light*. The police driver should've been looking for a better way past on his approach to the junction.
"You must not pass a red light unless a police officer explicitly says otherwise. People have been fined for crossing red lights to let emergency vehicles past and any appeals get rejected.28 May 2022" - Google.
*The Highway Code rule 219 states:
Consider the route of such a vehicle and take appropriate action to let it pass, while complying with all traffic signs.
who's at wrong here ultimately depends on the county you're in, the police shouldn't have cancelled their tone if they wanted the car to move, some counties allow a red light jump if forced by emergency services, other counties don't so defo look up your local laws, certainly a tricky situation but well done to the both of them for keeping it civil!
I'd go through the red where I live (somewhere in West Mids) because there's no red light cameras, etc. I sure as hell wouldn't somewhere like London.
Here you can go through a red light, over the curb and onto the mayor's lawn. We know now the whole story but what if it was a fire engine? "Oh gosh, I can't break the rules".
its worrying that you dont understand the basic traffic rules isnt it
The rider could hear the sirens well before the junction.
Happens constantly in Bath due to constrictive cycle lanes… ‘road furniture ‘ and now ‘ring of steel’ anti terrorist bollards
Causing delays to many many Ambulances on emergency calls…
Cyclist do cause harm
F' em, they can wait. Its not like they do anything important anyway.
From the West Yorkshire Police website:
Rule 219 of The Highway Code states:
'You should look and listen for ambulances, fire engines, police, doctors or other emergency vehicles using flashing blue, red or green lights and sirens or flashing headlights, or Highways Agency Traffic Officer and Incident Support vehicles using flashing amber lights. Do not brake harshly on approach to a junction or roundabout, as a following vehicle may not have the same view as you.'
Therefore, as outlined above, if there is an emergency vehicle behind you with its emergency warning signals on, it might be possible for you to manoeuvre out of the way to allow it through.
I thought you give right of way. But im in the US
Had he gone through the red, in the UK, he could have got a camera ticket which he would then have to pay.
Had wide kerbs either side. Just two wheels up on either, job done.
the cops is obviously stupid...
The policemen ARE obviously stupid Mr. Clever.
Not really, they seemed to be a bit indecisive though.
He should have switch off the siren until the lights turned to green
uk road laws, police cannot force you to go through a red light, if there is space to move then move to the side, besides that ... we cannot go through a red, even if it is an emergency service ( i shit you not, you can get done for doing it)
There’s consequences for 2 tier policing, and I for one will never assist the filth
Hello Yomoto Bear! I was wondering if we could use this clip "When you don't move over for the Police to pass.", and potentially some of your others as well, in future compilations on our channel? We'll definitely give you on-screen credit. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Have a great day!
Sure you can use this one, the others that you want to use. You have to message on the video first beforehand.
@@yomotobear Yes, will do. Thank you so much!
Mate its a Police car, not your personal.. go up on the curb and drive passed the civ - not like you couldn't do it as a police officer.
Must not've been a very big emergency. The cop could have very easily driven over the curb there if he needed to.
I'm also confused why a London cop is driving a German car. Do police forces in other countries not stick to domestic vehicles (assuming the country has domestic vehicles, which England does)?
Please name English vehicles that are English owned and built, that the tax payer is happy to fund for police use.
@@petergibson7287 You'd have to ask an English person. I don't keep track of their assembly plants or tax payers' opinions that closely.
@@NoName-ik2du Why would I ask? You're the one that's confused about English police with a German car.
@@petergibson7287 You're the one asking me to name cars made in England that English tax payer's like when I obviously am not from England.
@@NoName-ik2du again; you’re the one who’s confused and, it’s not obvious to me where you are from.
Anyhoo, there’s no need to answer back; I’ve already grown tired of you.
Under old rules the driver could move but now new rules, Driver is correct to wait for green light.
No, those were always the rules.
You're correct about they did the right thing, however thems always been teh rules
If you mean by new rules teh 22 update to the HWC, they weren't connected this, and the law wasn't changed
Hey mate ? Is it okay to use it please ? Credited of course, thanks in advance.
Well done the driver of the white car , don't be bullied by these yobs
Most comments on here are ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS.
How so?
The fact that it's illegal to move out of the way, by crossing the line at a red light, or for the officers to mount the pavement, makes me sick to my stomach. I hope that's changed soon! What's wrong with you? 😪
Wrong, police officers are able to guide traffic through ATS showing red, comes under same powers they have to close and redirect the king's highway.
@@c00sto A constable in uniform..
Police was in the wrong im afraid
The police car could and should be reported. They have no right to encourage a vehicle to break the rules of the road even if they are on an emergency. Furthermore they are not allowed to mount the pavement that way either.
Just goes to show that you don't know the law either as you're making fun of the driver!
well hopefully it's not your family member in an emergency needing emergency intervention while a first responder is being blocked in a situation that could safely and easily be avoided.
Rules of the road, the police even publicly announce that emergency vehicles should not be 'bullying' other road users through red lights and to commit a road traffic offence, unless the officer has instructed the driver to do so. Rules apply to all situations unfortuantely, regardless of the priority. I don't agree with it, however it prevents traffic collisions and much more.@@ThexSvns
@@ThexSvns 1, it's a Police vehicle, not an ambulance or fire engine.
2, the above doesn't matter... as emergency vehicles are told not to sound sirens or encourage vehicles to put themselves in danger (including going through a red light even if it looks clear). If there had been an accident, no matter how slight or small, then the emergency vehicle would be forced to stop and attend... AND the driver going through the red... well they are legally responsible, not the emergency vehicle.
You can be snotty all you like, but you are in the wrong.
@@PokerMuppet If there's sirens sounding near an intersection, then all opposing traffic should be pulled over and yielding which would clear the car to pull through the intersection. Police have a faster response time than ambulances to clear the scene. You're wrong.
@@ThexSvns you're still wrong... moving traffic doesn't always see or hear the lights and sirens and especially in cities it can be difficult to tell where it's coming from.
Regardless of opinions though IT IS THE LAW so even if you think you make sense, you are WRONG! Deal with it.
They use this when picking up a greggs or macdonalds.
It was a Sunday and Tesco close at 4pm. Got to do the shopping while on shift, a waste of personal time otherwise, plus they can park right by the entrance door. 😃
This is officially too much for me to handle.
You might want to re-edit the title
Some kids in a used BMW sedan with Temu RGBs in the bumper. Fuck that noise. Go over the tiny curb, but don’t get wheel rash on yer daddy’s BMW.
No traffic move for the police...a no brainer.
Driver couldn’t have did anything. Red lights. Oh by the way, that motorcyclist camera resolution is outstanding
Late for his supper.
IS THAT IT?
Driver cannot go thru red even if emergency services are behind them
Could be a red light camera at the junction, you could get fined for it, who pays the fine, white has free will
Where can he go…
Could have gone on low kerb
See you're supposed to be able to go through but, if the lights have a camera you'll get a fine and you'll have to prove in court that there was an emergency vehicle behind you at the time, which you likely wont be able to
I believe you can go through a red light, safely, if you are letting an emergency vehicle past, however I am not sure if not going through red constitutes obstruction…. I‘d imagine if you blocked them normally it would be a problem, but here you can‘t expect someone to put themselves potentially at risk by going thru red. Just a thought
Nope going through the red light commits a traffic offence only emergency vehicle's can and in our city they turn off the siren's until the light changes amber to green and then you must move to allow the emergency vehicle past even police road safety websites will answer on this
In Europe, you give a space to pass doesn't matter what kind of light you see. Because already everyone see and knows that emergency services is going through the crossing.
Also, cameras have the footage proof.
@@zygimantasgasiunas2791 in the EU, not europe :P
Im nitpicking however
Not in the UK you can’t.
@@zygimantasgasiunas2791there are lots of things you can do in Europe that isn't as safe as it should be. The UK has these rules directly because vehicles used to do exactly as you are suggesting and often caused accidents... to which the emergency vehicle is obliged to cancel their 'red call' and attend the accident they just caused instead. Oh and the vehicles going through a red are held responsible.
Nothing to see here. Please move along!
