And this is part of why I went to Wells on holiday this year instead of ever going to Wales again. Mind you, I had to wait out a South Hams bin lorry in a downhill single track road for 5 minutes because he thought I should reverse my motorbike out of his way.....when he finally reversed the 30 yards to a passing point and rolled down his window I reminded him of two things. 1..if he could find reverse gear on my bike he could keep it....and 2...he needed to go to specsavers because even when I took my helmet off two yards in front of him he didnt recognise a fella that worked with him for four years. 🦮🧑🦯🤔

Well he was a real ambassador for Wales, not! I live not far from there and I can assure you he is in the minority, most of us are welcoming. He was a total dick and you did well to remain calm, not sure I would have. Take care and don`t let that idiot put you off riding in Wales.

Having toured Wales in its entirety 3 to 4 times a year, for the last 5yrs well! 6yrs, but Covid kind of destroyed one of those years, so skip that ha, ha. I can concur, that! 99% of the Welsh population are very welcoming, however! 100% are bat s*"t crazy, in the best possible way, hence, I keep going back there!!!!

Hi both, just watched your video and thought I would let you know of something that happened to us and the action we took. So we had a car driver do an overtake that was dangerous putting both of us at risk. We had caught it all on camera. After some research I discovered that North Wales Police ( and some other forces) do a scheme called Operation Snap. We submitted the footage and 1 week later we received an email from the police informing us that positive action had been taken The road rage, speed and behaviour is worth submitting. Even if it results in just an officer giving words of advice.

I live in Carmarthenshire and I'm truly embarrassed for this to have happened in Wales. I love the fact that you both visit here and give us such badly needed tourist publicity. You're both tremendous ambassadors for Wales and all the countries that you travel through, but that bloke was clean off. He should be reported, if only for the fact that he had a face like a Nordic sock. I thought the way you handled the situation was exceptional -- well done. A masterful lesson in restraint. He was OTT and rude but a devil's advocate would likely point out that you probably should have been more to the left and not blocking the road by riding towards the passing place on his side of the road waving at him to stop. If you'd both slowed to the left he could have dropped into that passing place on his side. Just my opinion. I hope you're both okay.

Agree. There was no need for you to gesticulate to him and you were also too far to the right. Nevertheless he was obnoxious and bordering on violent. Best policy is not to react at all and keep your hands to yourself unless someone else actually causes a very near miss or actual contact. Do not provoke as it inevitably leads to road rage.

Fantastic video and it brought back a nostalgic memory for me. I cycled over the Gospel Pass in 1997 while participating in a mountain bike adventure training exercise from Chepstow to Holyhead. I didn’t come across a single road rage encounter but times have changed and you conducted yourselves admirably! Keep up the good work and cheers from sunny Cyprus (which has some great roads)! 😊

I try and get out on my road bike most days and at the last count, I’d covered over 100,000 miles under pedal power in 11 years on our roads; this meant climbing over 2.5 million metres along the way! The roads up into the mountains or down in the coastal areas are very popular at the weekends with the motorbike fraternity - Harley Davidson seems to be the touring bike of choice! Maybe I’ll see you out here one day!
There's no excuse for this bloke's behaviour, although we don't know what demons he may have had in his head at the time. However, Rich, I do think you were in the wrong at your first encounter when you should have stopped on the side of the road and let him go by in the passing place rather than continuing straight toward him, thus forcing him to stop. Had you done this the whole scene would have been avoided.
He had no alternative other than to stop for sufficient time for Ewa following to pass, his speed oncoming was madness, better he hit me than Ewa.
You are a better man than me Rich. Im not proud to say i would have found it very difficult not to have given him a face full of Shoei. Fairplay to you, mate. Wales is a beautiful place, i have never had a spot of bother from anyone, quite the opposite.

Damn, I’m sitting here in watching this in Alabama USA and thinking Wow! Yup Rich you handled that really well for situation that most would have seen red, I spent many years riding Enduro bikes around the Welsh mountains and yup I’ve seen this kinda thing before unfortunately. If you guys are ever thinking of doing a USA tour come and visit some Ex-pats in the US, we have great riding roads and less road rage! 😂 we also live 20 miles from the Best Motorcycle museum in the world, check out Barber Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham Alabama, it’s amazing! This was my thoughts whilst dealing with him, im gutted my camera was not on, i thought it was. He was fuming that i was unbothered by his aggression and i didnt feel threatened by him at all. I shown more concern for his shaking hands and his stress levels lol poor sod
@@ontheroadadventure Everything was on camera, you was about to pull in that wide spot but he came over the brow too fast for you to and all you did was signal for him to ease off the speed responsibly and he acted very aggressive and put simply shouldn't have been in control of a motor vehicle. Interesting fact published today regarding the 20mph speed limits in Wales. In September alone 13500 driver caught speeding in a 20mph zone. Anyone one else thinking 'cash cow'. Fair doos to you Rich for keeping such a cool head with that bloke. Alot of people wouldn't have been as calm as you. 😮

I did the same route earlier in the year I made a video of it. The tight road up to the pass I had vehicles in front of me stop then start reversing towards me I was bipping the horn and shouting to them to stop I’d left loads of room behind them I wasn’t following closely at all. I was just about to leap off my stationery bike into the bushes when they stopped. The guy couldn’t understand trying to push the bike backwards up an incline wasn’t going to happen. Later on I enjoyed the pass took some pics and made the video. The Lone Wolf Rides the Gospel Pass. Like the above I have a CF Moto 800MT Explore. Couldn’t get the Voge in March when I got the CF. Great video I enjoyed it
Car drivers often have no idea or experience about bikes, doesnt cross there mind you cant move out the way quick enough...
I live about 5 miles from there I will definitely be on the lookout for this arsehole.

Watched a few of your vids in the past and thought I had subscribed back then, have now lol. Our roads are brilliant for biking despite the odd pothole here and there and though some country roads may be quiet on a bank holiday or a Sunday they are heaving with traffic, especially if the sun is out.
The whole 20 mph thing though is a load of pish...I get why it was implemented but I'd love to know where they get their figures from because I doubt they are based on any form of reality what so ever.
I suspect it’s quite profitable to enforce and that’s where the figures will come from
Wouldn’t it be good to present to the Welsh Tourist Board a clip of the tonsil and ask them to use it in their promotional videos to welcome tourists to Wales. Dealt with admirably and luckily he didn’t have a heart attack. You don’t need idiots like that and maybe send a clip to the local constabulary and ask them to speak to him for what it’s worth

Ok Rich, I'm biking and driving a long time and we have lots of roads like this in Ireland and I know the score so,,
he was driving way too fast for that road but rem these locals are sick of mostly English bikers on their roads all year, he is a thick **** and he deserved to be put in his place but and there is a but,
when you met him you were in the middle and towards the right hand side of the road, you were intending to pull into that the little lay by/passing place on the right, that was a wrong move on your part, you should have kept hard to your left and let him swing in there which I believe is what he was intending to do, all be it far too fast for that road but anyway,
he had no need to react like that, you should report him because he is a danger to other people, next biker he meets he will be even more wound up and God knows what he might do when he is road raging, awful pity there wasn't a few other bikers there when he caught you up, he would have shit himself.

WOW!!! Having an aggressive road rage toad like that can really put a dampener on your ride. It’s uncalled for .. however I would have gone to the nearest police station with the video camera proof and reported him. He’s a threat to bikers… miserable old sod he is!! You both did well. 👍🏻👍🏻❣️

Yes admittedly the bloke went way overboard and didn't do himself any favours but when you were both coming up to the passing point, you were gesticulating to him before he had a chance to pull in to the passing point and thus he probably just stopped wondering what you wanted but instead of explaining, you just carried on through the narrow gap. Yes most people would have let it go but obviously he didn't want to. Gesticulating to other road users is one sure way to wind them up, especially if they think they have done nothing wrong.
We saw the guy from some distance driving really fast, if only for the sheep he needed to be told to slow down. Mans a fool
@@ontheroadadventure From your cameras the car couldn't even be seen from a distance and both of you never mentioned it on your intercom. The man might be a fool but his actions from afar weren't affecting you and by the time he saw you gesticulating he had already slowed down. I guarantee you that if you had just stopped where he could pass, all this would never of happened. As I say, gesticulating to other road users winds them up and some people's temper can't take it.
@@Steve-s8k also at 15:33 the motorcyclist sees the car - yet for some reason decides to keep riding slightly on the right hand side of the road (ie past an imaginery centre line) for another 3 seconds heading directly to the car - before waving the motorcyclist should have moved to the left hand side more, and then stopped completely letting the car pull into the road widening area (remember the widing is on the cars side so the car has to pull over into it whereas the motorcyclist simply stays on the left hand side. What happens is the motorcyclist does not stop and keeps heading into what is too small a gap (because the car has not been able to pull into the widening yet). Neither party comes out of this looking good, The driver looks like a hot head who can't let things be, and the motorcyclist clearly doesn't know where to position their motorcycle in these kinds of situations
@@paulgriffiths531 Your explanation is exactly how I saw it, with the car driver stopping wondering why someone is in the way, waving at them and not even stopping to give him an explanation. I'm a motorcyclist as well and I've had drivers act like idiots but unless it was a very near hit to me that it really shook me up, then I just shake my head and let it go because one of these days the other road user might go further than just verbally having a go at me. If another vehicle on the road is speeding, then it is not up to me to tell them to slow down.

The guy did over react but in all fairness you do need to be more careful when riding on single track roads those are passing places not somewhere to stop for a bit of sight seeing
Even though it's a single track road stick to the near side especially approaching a bend or a brow of a hill.

I think you may have confused him by your Road position at the point you met. I think his point is that had you been to the left of the road then you could have passed without stopping or waving at him. The waving at him implies that he has done something wrong when your position was preventing him from going by.
Of course he needed to slow down, the guy needed to slow and take a breather he was driving like a loony. I’m surprised he got that far without hitting a sheep or coming off the road. He is a danger to everyone around him
