    The mulch kit will fail and allow grass to come out the bottom of the chute. Bad design. I bought the mulch kit last year and very disappointed. Nice mower but bad mulch kit. Cub cadet any fix for this issue?

    There’s probably a slower way to do that but it would take a lot of thought and several coffee breaks.

    Nothing says "cover yourself for liability purposes" like removing the entire deck just to change the blades.

      Agreed. Make sure you have a helper bar/pipe on hand! First thing I did when I bought a house was buy a Cub Cadet mower and install the mulching kit. My brother and I had a heluva time trying to turn the nuts off of the blade, but thankfully the pervious owner of the house left a long pipe in the garage, and the extra leverage did the trick!

    Why does Cub Cadet paint over the cutting edge of the mulching blades with thick yellow paint? Nobody can get those to cut grass. I ground the paint off of mine. Doesn’t that mower have a PTO cable, and spring that need to be detached in order to remove the deck? Only saw you remove three pins???

      Yes!!! So gd frustrating that nothing said anything about that. I’m crawling around on the gd gravel trying to figure out why the company that make the video for their tractor, can’t even have the correct information in the video.

    Doesn’t show how to remove mower deck on the 42” XT Enduro Series when there’s a brace bar on the mower pulley under engine. It isn’t bolted on but welded on…. Any suggestions…..

      I prefer to leave the deck on when changing blades. Just jack up the front with a chain hoist (carefully) & there's plenty of room.

    I have an xt2 from last year and decided to get the mulch kit. I installed it today. No manual came with it so I just put it on thinking I knew what I was doing. I installed it without the shute since im putting a mulch kit on!!!!!! Why would I need the shute?????? Welp the mulch cover doesn't even COVER the whole area. At the top there's some gaps so all it did was throw grass right back on me and the tractor. Wow great design. The whole point of me getting the mulch kit was so I didn't have to have the stupid shute on. There should be no gaps so it can chop everything up really good.
    I have pics and a video.

      Just got my new X1T today and am wondering the same thing. Did you ever take yours off?

    • @hudwa
      @hudwa หลายเดือนก่อน

      I removed my chute, bad idea. The mulch plug DOES NOT fit securely over the deck. It certainly won't fly off, but it's not creating a seal. The chute helps keep the mulch plug down so that clippings aren't sputtering all over the place. I had green bits all over me, my water bottle and down my shirt after 20 minutes of mowing! The chute both puts some weight on the mulch plug to help it keep clippings in, but also channels clippings that do escape out and away from you.

      I was wondering the same thing. It really gets in the way.

    • @daddylogan
      @daddylogan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't want to...the chute helps from clippings trying to work their way out through spaces in the plug and clogging stuff underneath. This video is the correct way to install the mulch cover with the chute resting on top of it. Naturally you can jack the mower up to change the blades, but wear thick gloves if you have to hold the blade while trying to get the nut off or have pieces of wood to block the blades while loosening. ;-)

    • @hudwa
      @hudwa หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-zh4zm5ei6x I removed my chute so that I can cut closer on the right hand side, but ended up with a huge mess since the mulch plug was sputtering all over the place. That said, I'm unwilling to drill a hole in my deck so I may skip the zip ties and just replace the chute.

  • @RJ-sf9ox
    @RJ-sf9ox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The Mulch Plug design is a major fault. Long grass and/or wet grass, pushes the Plug upwards not allowing it to mulch properly. it needs a catch or something on the bottom to stop this Plug lifting.

    • @hudwa
      @hudwa หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. Do not understand why the mulch plug was not designed to create a secure seal on the deck, thus allowing for removal of the chute. Seems like if they designed and included just one extra fastener to secure the deck lid to the mulch plug, that would have allowed for removal of the chute. Removing the chute reduces the overall size of the mower, improves the ability to cut close on the right hand side, and just makes the mower look a lot cleaner.
