Ah, Sweet... What a band! So many unforgettable songs that were the backdrop of my happy, happy childhood. Sorry that Brian Connolly had such a hard life, he who conveyed so much happiness to so many people.
I miss the 70s. I really do. Music was at it's most creative experimental state. Every artist had their own defining sound. Pure diversity. Unpredictable. Yes. I really miss the 70s.
Joe Quintana , and don’t forget to mention that artist back then were true and talented musicians not like today’s crappy artist. Now days you have the so called artist trying to do both (acting and music) ant they suck at both. Today’s so called artist” are a bunch of self-centered talentless jerks driven only by greed.
It's a wonderful song from my childhood, I heard it in the radio many mornings while I was having my breakfast, preparing to go to elementary school. I had no idea how they looked like. Thanks for God.
Probably the last great hit of the 'old guard' at a time when punk, new wave and disco were changing the musical landscape. Always feel kind of melancholy when I hear this as when it came out in 78, it felt like the end of an era.
If I could swap my 1970s adolescence for the 1980s, 1990s or any other decade, I would not. The Sweet, T Rex, Slade, David Bowie, Elton John etc for the the mainstream. Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Hawkwind etc for the hardcore, David Cassidy, The Osmonds etc for the girlies, something for everyone and it was all NEW then. Nowadays it's all just chewed meat.
@@justinneill5003 A bit younger and I rebelled against the 60s and 70s music and people who said it was the best. Still absolutely love 80s-2005ish and some new stuff. But, it's just true, I don't think music will ever be as good as it was in the 60s and 70s.
This song is a dynamic symphony. It starts with the keyboard call and guitar response in a minor key to create the tension and a feeling of sadness. Then the mood suddenly changes with a simple three note guitar riff, adding rock energy, and we're made to wait briefly to find out what's coming. Then the chorus kicks in, the landscape of the key becomes apparent and you realise that it's a sophisticated ride of melody and harmony, which is simply thrilling. Then it unexpectedly it drops away into the verse, and there's a pure, solitary vocal backed by a piano, naked and heart tugging, at a slower speed, which moves into a more major sounding later section as the bass and drums return and it climbs towards the energy release of the huge chorus again. The production is closer to ELO than earlier Sweet, and they can hold their own with the very best of the era like Abba with this three minute heady musical treat that we'll never forget.
Yes! I was a teenager living in England and was in love with Brian Connolly and 70s bands. Such a tragic life he led, struggling with alcoholism, RIP Brian.

Ah, Sweet... What a band! So many unforgettable songs that were the backdrop of my happy, happy childhood. Sorry that Brian Connolly had such a hard life, he who conveyed so much happiness to so many people.
The Sweet were a very underrated band, they were brilliant.🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Brian's voice is so beautiful ❤️😍
I watch this and fall in love with Brian over and over again. Incredible!!!
His voice was like a angel
The pinnacle of glam rock. A great and immortal musical moment in time.
Brian sings like an angel in this song
Unfortunately, like many of us Scots he liked the demon drink too much, and this put him in a much to early grave
He is an angel ❤
Forever loved and missed 😢

@@TheIncredibleTobi33 yes but does not dismiss the fact about singing like an angel.

I miss the 70s.
I really do.
Music was at it's most creative experimental state.
Every artist had their own defining sound. Pure diversity. Unpredictable.
Yes. I really miss the 70s.

What a great band and and great song ....This recording stands the test of time . great vocals and groove ...
Only Andy is alive of this excellent band. We've lived long enought to witness demise of so many great rockers. Rest In Peace, Steve, Mike and Brian

@@Raceross ELO... what??? Why? Maybe the bass and drum sound. Other than that... NADA.
Love this song....great voice!!! This song was definitely part of that era👍
Probably the last great hit of the 'old guard' at a time when punk, new wave and disco were changing the musical landscape. Always feel kind of melancholy when I hear this as when it came out in 78, it felt like the end of an era.
Mid 60's to mid 70's were the best music in my opinion. Really miss that music.
They were great years now very very sadly missed 😥😥😥
I was 14 , very dramatic typical teen girl , first crush , heartbreak , oh yeah and the awesome music.
Awesomeley said gene, awesomeley said. 😊 All the best.
definitely they're best song composition.3 chord rock and roll with spit shine polish. Not easy to perfect though i've been trying 45 yrs.lol

Brian Connelly, very underrated singer due to the "glam rock" not to be taken to seriously music era. Apparently abit of a moody soul, still he could sing effortlessly. Itought he was great, god rest him. Band still going I believe and his replacement is excellent too, he,d have to be really.
