    Great video, I'm putting a Pioneer DEH unit in my motorhome this Saturday. This just saved me a lot of second guessing and head scratching. Some possible embarrassment and half hearted apologies as well, because I'd probably have been cussing up a storm, loud enough for the neighbors to hear! Well... There a two different products from Pioneer depending upon your installation application.
      If you are installing into an existing factory location or an infinite baffle install, please consider the Pioneer TS-A2000LD2 seen in this unboxing video from Pioneer: th-cam.com/video/6bakEnog_nE/w-d-xo.html
      If you need a small enclosure, please consider the Pioneer TS-A2000LB seen in this unboxing video: th-cam.com/video/WkbRBGtW9yM/w-d-xo.html
      Both will work with Pioneer headunit only power. Please note, do not expect the headunit only power to shake your mirrors. It won't. If you want more power, an external amplifier will make life better.

      @deckerdotto6035 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In nearly every modern vehicle the answer is no. However, there could be some exceptions to this depending upon the vehicle. Pioneer receiver's are designed this way so you don't accidentally leave the in-dash receiver switched on when you exit your vehicle. And when you come back to the vehicle, the battery is dead. I have the DEH-S4010BT model, and I'd like to know if you can connect the blue, remote turn on wire from my Pioneer GM-D8601 amp to the blue, system remote control wire on the head unit?

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. That's the idea. The Blue/White System Remote wire on the back of the DEH-S4010BT can connect to the System Control terminal on the Pioneer GM-D8601. This will switch the amplifier on, when the in-dash receiver is on, and it will switch the amplifier off when the in-dash receiver is off. If you are also trying to switch on several other external devices via the Blue/White System Remote wire, you may need an external relay to operate the entire system. • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pioneer standard mode and Network mode is explained in this Pioneer You Tube video: th-cam.com/video/k3q0Zm5jvHg/w-d-xo.html If your in-dash receiver does not have network mode, or you did not put it into network mode, the Rear speaker outputs Gray and White are good Speaker Level connections to use for a sub amplifier. Please be more specific with your question. What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? What is the model number of your Pioneer subwoofer? If you are looking for a subwoofer that easy to add on to an existing system please consider Pioneer subs with built-in amplifiers as seen here: th-cam.com/video/AkushNUilVs/w-d-xo.html

    Could you please tell me Pioneer DEH-S31BT Whats the steering wheel control wire on this harness..? If I buy separate adapter(interface)how should I connect with this..? Because this stereo says it has Steering Wheel Control(swc) function

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 3rd party adapter is required for steering wheel control. Please watch this video to see the back of the Pioneer DEH-S31BT and the Steering Wheel Remote Control Input: th-cam.com/video/pGGsNRS74rQ/w-d-xo.html You'll need to get a steering wheel control adapter. Many are available. Here is one possibility: metraonline.com/part/AXSWC There are no steering wheel controls on the receiver's wire harness. The steering wheel control adapter plugs in through a 3.5 mm jack on the back of the receiver. • @deckerdotto6035

      The Red Wire is your trouble. The Red Wire should have power when the vehicle is switched on. The Red Wire should NOT have power when the vehicle is switched off. The Yellow Wire should have power at all times, even when the vehicle is switched off. Do not Connect Red and Yellow together. will this help at all for the really old KE series models of head units? the old cassette ones that are not shaft style, but before CD units years availability?? i have an old school KE-2303QR cassette/tuner combo unit im puting in an old 93 lumina in place of the stock common large delco 16141883 unit with the later years style smaller wires pins style connector, about 92 and older were the larger style old style connectors/pins. this Pioneer KE series unit has two black ground wires right next to each other in bottom row of pins separate pins from each other,. not combined. no other wires pins in bottom row except for antenna ground which is a third separate ground wire pin in this bottom row,. which one is speakers ground and which one is main chassis unit ground ???? wires colors are: top row: red for antenna - blue - red - gray w/ red stripe - gray - green w/ red stripe - green,.,..
    then second row is: four separate black grounding wires starting with antenna ground -
    i have to assume that the grays and greens are pair of speakers/channel wire pairs, greens for one channel and the grays for other channel?? front and rear. or each wire is speakers positives and it is actually four channels??

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not just a KE but a KE and QR. That is old school. I'll guess it's from about 1990 or so. The video above will not help at all. You're going back about 30 years or so, but this is what I remember. The Red had a fuse holder. This was the ignition wire. There was no constant power wire to hold the clock and radio stations settings because KE-2303QR was a pull out type of radio. Press the button on the front edge and the handle will pop up. Pull the handle to remove the radio chassis from the mounting cage. All memory was held with a battery inside the removable chassis. I'm sure the battery needs to be replaced 30 years later. One ground wire needs to be connected to the back of the mounting cage and the other was the system ground as well as the speaker ground. KE means this was a low powered radio and all 4 speakers shared one common ground. Taken out of the box, the Black ground had a spade connection. The single Speaker ground had 4 separate bullet connectors. Green Left Front Positive. Gray Right Front Positive. Green Red Left Rear Positive. Gray Red Right Rear Positive. hi i got a pioneer x2700bs with 1 orange and white wire . on my harness kit their is a orange and white labeled dimmer and a solid orange wire illumination. which wire do i wire it too? the dimmer wire or illumination wire?

    • @deckerdotto6035

      On the wire harness for the in dash receiver, the orange wire with white strip is used to dim the in dash receiver. Not to power the illumination. • @deckerdotto6035

      That may depend on how old and vintage your Pioneer receiver is. The wire colors for old vintage Pioneer receivers may not be the same as the colors you see in this video. I have a 2001 Silverado and I just installed the Pioneer DEH-S4120BT.
    Most of the wires on the harness matched except one end had red, pink, orange with no corresponding colors that matched the harness coming from the radio. I matched them with the closest color, but there was 1 extra wire left coming from my truck because my truck apparently has more wires than my new radio.... The wire that got left out is orange, simply because there's nothing to connect it to.
    My new radio works great, but I have 2 problems. My headlights and my cab lights no longer come on automatically. They work off I manually turn them on though. I have been assured that everything is wired correctly, but something is obviously wrong. Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong?
    If I put the old radio back in the lights work fine lol

    Hi! I have a Pioneer DEH1900MP, that I recently hooked up. The device turns on, but the screen flashes on and off. I can’t seem to figure out why or get any information online.
    Any word on what this means?

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, that's an old one. The Pioneer DEH-1900MP was produced back in 2005-2006. The screen flashing likely means a wiring problem. The first possible issue is with the ground wire. Check to be sure the Black wire has a good connection to metal in the body or frame of the vehicle. Another possibility is speaker wires touching each other or metal in the vehicle. I recommend to check the back of the receiver to be sure no speaker wires are exposed and touching one another, or metal. Also check the speaker locations to see that the speaker terminals are not touching metal in the door or rear deck or other are in the vehicle. It's also possible that after 15 years, this product needs to be serviced. You can find more videos on Pioneer's TH-cam Channel here: th-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics

    I have a deh s31bt, with AMP ERROR, if I add the external amplifier it’ll fix it? My battery voltage is up near 14

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amp Error means the receiver is in protection mode. If you are seeing AMP ERROR on the in-dash receiver screen this almost always means exposed speaker wires are touching each other or touching metal in the vehicle. Check the White and White/Black, the Gray and Gray/Black, the Green and Green/Black and the Purple and Purple/Black wires at the back of the in-dash receiver. You can see them here: th-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFug/w-d-xo.html If the speaker leads have exposed wire, properly terminate the wire so there is no exposed wire. If the speaker wires are not touching each other or metal behind the dash, check the speaker locations in your vehicle. If a speaker terminal is touching metal in a door, or some other area you may see AMP ERROR on the in-dash receiver. Adding an amplifier is a great idea, however, please note: Until you figure out what is causing the amp error, it will continue to display. The Pioneer AVH-1300NEX was manufactured back in 2017. It sounds like you may have blown a fuse in the vehicle, or on the in-dash receiver, or both, during the installation. For any installation, I recommend to disconnect the vehicle's battery negative terminal before working with wiring. I recommend to check the fuse panel in the vehicle, and the 10 amp fuse on the back of the receiver. If a fuse is blown, you did something wrong. Go back and check your wiring before replacing the fuse. The Pioneer wire harness wire color codes will be the same for both receivers. I recommend to hold the new wire harness up to the old one and carefully check the order the wires are held in the black wire connector on the wire harness. The Pioneer wire harness system is not designed to match the colors of any wires in any given vehicle. This video describes the function of Any Given Wire by its color code in the Pioneer wire harness. You must connect the wire harness to the proper wires in the vehicle. This is not based on the color of the vehicle wires.

      The speaker outputs should be read in AC. When the in-dash receiver is switched on and playing music, the speaker wire outputs (Gray and Gray/Black, White and White/Black, Purple and Purple/Black, Green and Green/Black) should read AC output. The designation of positive and negative on the speaker output wire is only to ensure correct phase polarity for the speaker.

    • @deckerdotto6035

      If you are using an aftermarket wire harness adapter designed for your particular vehicle that offers matching wire colors to the Pioneer wire harness, you should be able to join the two black wires together. One black wire from the Pioneer harness and, one black wire from the aftermarket wire harness adapter joined together. That should be all you need to do. Another option would be to connect the Pioneer wire harness black wire to metal in the body or fame of the vehicle. If that case you should safely terminate the black wire from the aftermarket wire harness adapter. It's not a good idea to leave bare wires in the dash. What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? Please be more specific with your question. What is your setup?
      If your clock and radio stations reset each time you start your vehicle, the in-dash receiver may have an improper connection for the Yellow Wire. The Yellow Wire must have constant power from the vehicle. This means if the vehicle is switched on or switched off, the yellow wire should measure at ~12 volts. The Red Wire is for accessory. You can view the red wire as the receiver’s on/off switch. The red wire should measure ~ 12 volts only when the vehicle is switched on.
      ---Do not connect the Red Wire and Yellow Wire together. ---
      Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera. I don’t know about the operation of other cameras.
      Be sure to plug the Brown camera output RCA into the Brown RCA Input on the back of the Pioneer in dash receiver.
      The Pioneer ND-BC8 camera needs power and ground to operate. The camera should always have power when the vehicle is switched on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle is switched off. This is very similar to the way the Red Accessory wire works on a Pioneer in-dash receiver. Just because the camera has power does not mean you are viewing the camera window on the in-dash receiver.
      The receiver’s violet/white wire is used to let the in-dash receiver know that the vehicle is in it’s reverse gear and, to automatically open the backup camera window on the receiver screen.
      Do not connect the violet/White wire to the camera.
      When you put the vehicle in it’s reverse gear, the violet/White wire should sense a change in voltage. This automatically opens the camera window on the in-dash receiver. And closes the camera window, when the vehicle is taken out of it’s reverse gear. One possibly connection for the violet/White Reverse Gear wire is the vehicle’s backup lamp terminal.

      The red wire and the yellow wire are the keys to your question. The red wire should be hooked up to ignition. The yellow wire should be hooked up to constant power. This keeps the radios clock and radio station presets when the system is not switched on. If you put the yellow wire and the red wire to ignition it will power on with the ignition but will not save the clock or the radio stations. It will not use any power when it's off.

Subwoofer was connected using bridged external amps (Channel A - Bridged). My tweeter was connected to grey and white black wire from the unit.
    The problem is : The mid high pass filter was filtering the mid bass (which is correct), but the mid low pass filter was filtering the tweeter instead of the mid bass. And therefore, the high low pass filter is filtering the mid bass. What is wrong here? I am confused.

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Pioneer DEH-80PRS was first manufactured back in 2010 and it works a little differently than any of the more modern Pioneer receivers in network mode. The Pioneer DEH-80PRS uses the Rear Output RCA and Rear Output Speaker Level as the High Range output in Network Mode. And the Front Output RCA and Front Output Speaker Level as the Mid-Range output in Network Mode. This means Green and Purple speaker wires are the Rear or High output. And the White and Gray speaker wires are the Front or midrange output. This is different than other modern Pioneer in-dash receivers. This is clearly noted in the DEH-80PRS installation manual. You can find it here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/DEH-80PRS_InstallationManual072616.pdf The RCA outputs are from the top of the unit to the bottom, Rear/High, Front/Mid, and Sub/Low. Also, please be sure to choose a Crossover Point and Slope for the midrange outputs both HPF and LPF. No matter what crossover point you set, if you choose a slope of Zero, you have effectively made this output a pass through with no crossover at all. You can find the installation manual for the Pioneer DEH-80PRS here: www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/DEH-80PRS_InstallationManual072616.pdf This topic is covered in some detail. Please read it. The RCA input on the back of the Pioneer DEH-80PRS is simply a 2nd AUX input. It can use low level RCA input from an external device. Or it can use High Level speaker input from an external device. Depending upon what type of input you are going to use, set the switch accordingly. If you are not going to use the 2nd AUX input, it does not matter where you set the switch. The DEH-80PRS will not automatically adjust to the type of signal and may be overloaded with a high level input if you set the switch to low level input. If you are planning to play music from an external device through the 2nd AUX input, be sure to balance the volume output from the music player with the input on the DEH-80PRS to avoid a distorted input signal. @pioneerelectronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Blue wire with White stripe is used as an on/off switch for external devices connected to the in-dash receiver, such as external amplifiers or a power antenna. If you don't have any external devices that need to be switched on and off with the in-dash receiver, then you don't need to connect the Blue/White wire to anything. Just properly terminate the wire so it does not come into contact with other wires or metal in the vehicle. This video describes the function of each colored wire in the Pioneer wire harness system. The Pioneer wire harness included in the box with the in-dash receiver is not designed to match the wire colors of any OEM factory Make, Model, or Year vehicle wire harness. Different vehicle wire harnesses may use any combination of colors. Any color match with the Pioneer wire harness is purely coincidental.
      I recommend the use of a wire harness adapter designed to fit your particular vehicle. The wire harness adapter will then color match to the included Pioneer wire harness. This isn't absolutely necessary, but it makes installation easier and faster. If you choose to get a wire harness adapter, be sure to get one the is designed for your particular vehicle make, model, and year. Here is one example: www.crutchfield.com/S-rYLQbV2XD7r/p_120701770/Metra-70-1770-Receiver-Wire-Harness.html?awcr=12166312015&awdv=c&awkw=car%20radio%20wire%20harness%20adapter&awmt=e&awnw=o&awat=&awug=&msclkid=7b2c1836d2d41b63c9317b2e498cff59

      If this does not correct the issue, you may need to test the front speakers. You know the rear speakers are working. Just as a test, you can disconnect the in-dash receiver's rear speaker outputs, and reconnect them to the front speakers. Are the front speakers now working? If the rear speaker outputs work on the rear speakers, but not on the front speakers, you know the issue is not the in-dash receiver.

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pioneer in-dash receives must be connected to the vehicle to operate. This is done through the wire harness as explained in the video above. The wire colors on the Pioneer wire harness are not designed to match any particular make, model, or year of vehicle's dash wiring. In many cases you can buy a wire harness that is specific to your vehicle. The wire harness that fits your vehicle will have the same wire colors as the Pioneer wire harness. You just need to match up the wire colors. You can see one example here: metraonline.com/part/71-2106 You can find more videos on Pioneer's TH-cam Channel here: th-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics

      It would be great if your car had the same plug as the one on the back of the Pioneer receiver. Best of luck with that. I strongly recommend that you take the existing radio out of the vehicle, and compare the connectors in the vehicle to the plug on the back of the Pioneer receiver. In nearly every vehicle ever made, these plugs will not match up. That's where a part like this is used: metraonline.com/part/71-2106 In nearly every Pioneer car stereo installation, you'll need to join the wires from the in-dash receiver to the vehicle in one way or another. There are many ways to join wires. Soldering, or crimp connectors are commonly used. You can find many videos on TH-cam explaining the process of wire joining. There are 3 wires that must be properly connected for a Pioneer in-dash receiver to power up. You must properly connect Yellow to constant power, this stays on even when the vehicle is off. Red to switched power, this is on when the vehicle is on and off when the vehicle is off. Black to ground metal in the body or frame of the vehicle.

    So why would the would it exceed 30 mA 12V DC then? I keep getting the amp error display.

    • @pioneerelectronics
      @pioneerelectronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you see the amp error message, the first thing to look at is the speaker wire connections. I recommend to carefully check all 8 of the speaker output wires at the back of the receiver. White, Gray, Green, Purple and the black stripe matching colors. If any of them are touching one another or metal in the vehicle, you may see amp error on the receiver. Also check the speaker locations in the vehicle. Doors, back deck, dash etc... If any of the speaker terminals are touching metal in the vehicle you may see amp error displayed.
      If the speaker outputs are all connected or terminated properly, the Blue/white wire may be the issue. If you are attempting to operate more than 1 or 2 external devices, you may need to use a 12v relay instead of a direct connection to the external devices with the Blue/White wire. No. Not and expect any real performance from the subwoofers.
      You can connect one small subwoofer, 8 inch, or 20 cm to the rear output of the in-dash receiver. It works very nicely with one small subwoofer. If you want to use more than one small subwoofer or If you are looking for big performance you'll need to use an external amplifier.

    • @pioneerelectronics

      Some Pioneer receivers have a Pink wire on the wire harness. The Pink wire is the Car Speed Signal Input. This may also be known as the VSS or Vehicle Speed Sense wire. This gives the in-dash receiver direct information from the vehicle about speed and is not dependent upon GPS. I strongly recommend to properly connect the Pink wire to the vehicle. @deckerdotto6035 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As shown in the video above: th-cam.com/video/kR2MO2kwFug/w-d-xo.html The Blue/White wire is used to switch on components external to the in-dash receiver, like amplifiers and power antennas. If you don't have external amplifiers or power antennas you don't need to connect the Blue/White Wire. If you are overloading the Blue/White Wire, use a third party relay to switch on the external devices. In addition, "Amp Error" will also appear if the speaker wires are touching one another or metal in the vehicle. Be sure the speaker wires are not touching one another or metal in the door or rear deck. You can find more videos from Pioneer here: th-cam.com/users/pioneerelectronics

      If your clock and radio stations reset each time you start your vehicle your in-dash receiver may have an improper connection for the Yellow Wire. The Yellow Wire must have constant power from the vehicle. Even when the vehicle is switched off. The Red Wire is for accessory and is sort of like the on/off switch for the in-dash receiver. Red should only have power when the vehicle is switched on. Do not connect the Red Wire and Yellow Wire together.
