@@pelitaabadi2116 note for note? you are completely incorrect, this song is even harder than ohm if you actually learn how to play it instead of just listening to the groove once and going "sounds easy bruh." try getting the open hat hits in the right spot, it's a fuckin crazy hard part
Just got my 3 year old son his first drum set. He has seen as many drummers as me on youtube he is obsessed with drumming specifically to Nic's videos. Especially vultures and talking head because he likes to put his hood up and cover his face. Northlane is so awesome that 3 year olds now love drumming to their music. 😂

HERE IN 2024 ASKING FOR MORE STUDIO PLAYTHROUGHS.... ive watched all these probably 100's of times over the past 8-9 years haha.
Nic has evolved as a drummer over the years. From choppy to fluid and smooth. He has become more tasteful.

He evolved? On every single album he is incredibly good.
I think what he meant was his style has changed up over the years. Not necessarily that he's better but he plays differently. But that has alot to do with the change in sound for guitars and everything else going on. Drummers generally change their styles and patterns up to accomodate whats going on melodically or at least that's what ive been lead to believe through my own experience
ChunKeyyyy Evolved means changed not improved. I agree he has always been and still is amazing.
A lot of that is because the music of northlane has changed though. :)
The stuff he played on the first two albums wouldn't fit into Mesmer, and the same holds the other way round.
Still, i totally agree on him being on of the most tasteful drummers out there.
There’s no better way to connecting - without language- than understanding the same line of grove! You guys are awesome! You Nic are awesome

TheFriskDrums I probly agree regardless of what you meant by that lol...but could you be a bit more specific by what you meant about "snare" ?? For example: How it's tuned/how it sounds; how he positions It..among other pieces in his setup (like specifically, how over the years, he's tended to tilt certain drums and even moreso his cymbals, wheras before they tended to all be angled more level or flat); his snare technique & style..how he tends to incorporate the amazing variety of different snare notes into the rest of his playing (& therefore Northlane's overall sound)?? Or whatever you meant lol I'm just really intrigued by what you said..thanks!
hippie saboteur I have one of these snares, can say from personal experience this snare is a thing of beauty. The company is Evetts and couldn’t recommend this snare and the drum company enough. It’s 14x7 a deep rich tone that packs a punch. Nic tilts his snare and cymbals, for me I don’t see what this does to the sound only that it feels most comfortable to the drummer.
Interesting how you can notice the guitar so much in this version.
Luiz Felippe also the bassguitar is nicely mixed.
These mixes are better than the album, to me, personally. I’ll jam these over the album versions on long drives, etc.
No vocals so you're drawn to the guitars more!

I don't understand the cymbals leaning away from the kit. Putting them flat already gives a good striking angle
Jacob Smith it gives a sharper, crisper tone on the initial hit. His playing style suits it. Gives the record some more character

I'm a bass player, but I love watching drum playthroughs/covers even though I don't know much. That said, I love that snare man. It sounds "tight" if that makes sense. Just a sharp quick strike. Very solid sounding. Easily one of my favorite drumers too. I still watch drum cams of Quantum Flux. The Bassist is pretty good too. Not up there for me though. There are a lot of monstrous Bassists in the scene if you dig around a bit. People often overlook them though (unless they are also musicians) lol.

At the end of the chorus it seems like he's hitting his right crash in the audio but not in the video. You can see it at 1:02 but it's in every chorus. I know he hits his crash/ride but it sounds a lot more like his right crash.
