    Hello, a big thank you, I love this car, however I have a question: how is it possible that the acceleration is so bad!? It makes 180 hp and only goes from 0 to 100 in 9.5 seconds! My 110 hp 208 does 9.3 seconds lol

      Its mostly depends on good fuel here. The cheaper one gives very bad results. Here in Europe that ethanol content they add gives me 46km less range also :(

    good performance with gentle start. not far from what the factory claims plus its an efficient car without turbo

      But it's pretty sluggish to drive and new Golf 1,5 TSI is more economical.

      @@sic22l but the golf costs more, has a cheaper feeling interior, the turbo will break and it actually emits more CO² with a smaller engine. It's feels "sluggish" because you don't got the low rpm oompf from the turbo engines but at higher revs it will outleg the golf easily as it's being held back by it's smaller engine.

      It's a naturally aspirated engine with no torque.

      2nd gear goes to beyond 100. I'm still figuring out all the factors that I can since the US Spec 2.5 N/A does 0-60 in 7.3 which is weird because they are quite similar in spec ( 2.5 US Spec : +4hp +26Nm -25kg )
      I suspect gearing and torque but I'm still questioning why they're so far apart.

      It doesn't in the Skyactiv-X, it has shorter gearbox (shorter than 2.0 Skyactiv-G 150hp).

    yes, it’s very slow for 180 hp, but don’t make the mistake of treating this car as a hot hatch. if you treat it like for example as a golf mk7 1.2/1.4 tsi, it makes absolute sense. also these are the cars the skyactiv x is in competition with. golf, focus, bmw 1-series, audi a3, etc.

    The gear ratio is too wide, thats why its slow. They made it that way to be fuel efficient. The car reach 200km/hr on 5th gear alone... Not yet even on red line.
    If you want it to be fast, you can retune the engine to increase more hp, but your torque will be lessen,

      Can be but you don't want to always to change gears if your towards comfort. It can abruptly move a little when changing gears and make sounds
      Thats why they have a mazda 6 to comfort all your needs that's lacking on the mazda 3.
      There is no all in one car, sometime you just have to pick what you want.

      Even my 2.0tdi 150hp reaches 200km/h in 5th gear but it's a lot faster in 0-100km/h than this

      Actually gears are pretty short, at 140km/h on 6th gear you're over 3000 rpm and the engine is pretty noisy. Gears seem low because the engine revs really high.

      I have a car with 184 HP and very long 6 gears. It reaches 110 in 2nd, 170 in 3rd, over 200 in 4th. 8 sec to 100, about 20 to 160 and 35-37 to 200. This Mazda is just too slow.

      Acceleration is slow, top speed is ok, i guess. But a 1.5 tsi golf will destroy it, with the 150 hp engine..

      There's a soft limiter, you can't go higher.

    After 10 000km it goes 20% faster, this is due to the testing of the emission,because tests are only done while the car is new.

      Source? Because I am pretty sure this is just what Opel did with their diesel engines. Skyactiv-x is a petrol engine. And from the looks of it, it already is past its break-in period. Its performance won't suddenly increase, but it's responsiveness will. Stop spreading nonsense lol.

      Gears are not far off, it seems that way because of high revs. It doesn't need more power, it needs torque.

    Have 320d 190 ps , one guy with cx-30 try pass me.
    No chance , even my car is manual gear.
    This car is slow, 100 to 160 he was not far away , but +160 goodbye
    Maybe because my car have alot more torque .
    Maybe on mazda 3 more light car is beter.
    But i dont see this car go 240km/h like
    mine.
    Also more speed more fuel consumption.
    With mine diesel speeds more then +200km/h still geting 6.6l per 100km

      My thought as well. My 320i has similar power but has a top speed of 235 (240 on speedometer).

      well it's an atmospheric engine. There's no turbo, if you really want performance you have to grind through the RPMs to get it. I can understand what you mean. Turbo powered cars have their torque (and spice) in the lower RPMs.

      @@AbdelOO7 Yeah, but this was perfomance test, where he revs car over 6000 rpm and there is still mediocre acceleration. In this class and 180 hp it should be around 8 second, even withour turbo.

      Because Mazda is taking the other route then all other manufacturers, making naturally aspirated enginges very fuel efficient.

    Nice test.
    The car is suffering from wrong fuel. Please use Euro 98 E5, This engine really does not like E10 fuels.
    Yes, the BMW may be faster, but also his wallet was empties much deeper. (I guess at least 2x)

      I guess you misunderstood how skyactive x works...? It's not a normal Otto engine. E10 is in the case even better than E5. I have the impression that Mazda recommends E 10 officially

      You should fuel it with E10, it's the recommended fuel..
      It needs a fuel with RON >= 95, so either E10 (because of the ethanol being 108.6 RON) Aral Ultimate (for Germany) or similar fuel types like that are fine as well.

      It does seem sluggish idd, altough, according to Mazda the sky activ x power is locked until the engine reaches 4k Km. this one seems to be only at 2.6k. So here is to hoping

      But this much difference is unlikely

    2.0L is not 180hp. That is 2.5L.

      2.0 Skyactiv X is 180bhp. Slow 0-100 time is due to gentle start.

      @HFStuartNot a gentle start, soft limiter doesn't allow you to go past 3000 rpm. The rest is due to the lack of torque, everyone got used to turbocharged engines.

    Terrible performance for a 180hp car! It should not matter if it’s tailored more towards economy than power. I also noticed the driver holds on to the revs way too long, that’s why the curve is so extremely flat, the higher revs obviously hold no power. But aside from the driver, the engine should perform better than this. Very, very disappointing. Also, going 206 on a 100 Landstraße? And braking to zero on a slight bend on the Autobahn? Do you know how long it takes for that BMW going 240 to notice you and brake in time? You could have died and taken innocent people with you, the Dutch are generally inexperienced when it comes to higher speeds. Stay in Holland please, don’t be dumb and don’t risk your and the life of others! I can’t believe Mazda Netherlands collaborated on this video, insane!
