Mazda CX-30 GT AWD Acceleration test | 0-60 Mph / 0-100 Km/h with dragy

  • This Mazda CX-30 is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 186 horsepower and mated to a six-speed automatic. But in Canada, you can also go with the CX-30 GX wich powered by a four-cylinder Skyactiv-G 2.0L engine paired with a quick-shifting Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. This engine produces 155 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque.
    Test note: At our test track, the CX-30 is slower than rivals such as the Hyundai Kona Turbo but quicker than other SUVs such as the Nissan Rogue Sport, Subaru Crosstrek or the Chevrolet Trax. The new CX-30 needs the Skyactiv-X or a turbo to make it a perfect little SUV! Times are slower than what the other medias tested, the same happens to every Mazda car we test. I can't figure out the reason for now but this is real life testing! This one was AWD and rolling Michelin winter tires.
    So check out our acceleration test of the new Mazda CX-30!

      I tested the CX-30 available in Mexico, here we only get the FWD, I managed a 8.42s from 0 to 100kmh, I did some brake torquing because just floring it with TCS off producess a lot of wheel spin (even then I managed 9.2s). Maybe you need to brake torque it a little bit. Acceleration tests start at 2:34 (th-cam.com/video/-DKop3pBEIA/w-d-xo.html)

      I just sold a 2020 AWD Stinger GT 3.3TT and got a CX -30.I drove both the kona and the CX-30 and the CX-30 seems faster and I believe in most tests these ar close to each other.Problem is any of these turbo engines will run slower in both hot weather and 87 gas--so unless you drained a tank almost compltetly and filled it up with prmium gas it is hard to measuer.BTW I rented an A6 AUDI last year and they put regular in it cause i saw the receipt.I can tell you after I put premium in that car made a huge diffrence--especialy in mid range to hi speed range--30 mph to 110--car was way faster with premium.I have had my CX30 for only a few days but plan on running the tank low and only using premium from now on.Now the Kona N will be a diffrent story--but i hear horror stories on prices--Kona n will be low to mid 40s and no AWD for at least the first model year.BTW the stingers power in daily driving was overkill--I was able to sell my Stinger for more money then I paid and was able to buy a CX-30 premium Plus for 35k and able to put several thouands of dollars in the bank.So I own my CX-30 and already have money in the bank towards my next vehicle--which maybe an AWD KONA N if it is priced reasonable in 3 or so years.BTW--the Mazda interior is on par with the A6 I rented--very upscale and better then my stinger and the Stinger did have a nice interior.I also have a 2k budget to mod my CX-30 and plan on doing an intake and an exhaust--I am only doing mods that keep the warranty--but hopefully if I can just get another 10% reliable HP out of this it will be perfect.

    I like that Mazda is still using a traditional automatic, not a CVT. A DCT might be nice but the servicing costs for them tend to be quite expensive compared to a traditional automatic. Plus Mazda really fine tuned the transmission and engine tuning so that the shifts are quick but smooth. Plus you have the benefit of it being able to skip shift down several gears very quickly if you suddenly floor it, something which DCT struggles with. CVT is nice for fuel economy but pretty much rubbish for everything else, especially longevity and performance.

    • @441meatloaf
      @441meatloaf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DCT has been proven to be bad when the AWD need the torque to remove the car from getting stuck. Take a look at the Kia Seltos that uses a DCT it overheats fast when your just spinning your tires and initial acceleration of DCTs has been noted to be jerky. DCT is even worse than CVT at it.

    I think Mazda is not known lately for their aggresive acceleration, but more for how smooth it accelerates to a crusing speed. It's all that maintaining that driver and machine are one and both movement is natural.
    They've used the 6 speed for it's been known as forever. Rumour is they'll add 2 more gears in the near future. It's about time they do, I think they've waited so long because they don't want the transmission to "gear hunt" like other manufacturers. Their current 6 speed is quite the work of some proper engineering.
    They could easily add a turbo to all of their models, but they've used so much trickery in that engine(exhaust scavenging, cooled EGR, etc) that makes it a pain to fix if something goes bad.

    Now you need to test the 2021 CX-30 2.5 Turbo AWD. It's a beast. Some have seen 0-60 in 5.8 seconds. I don't think anything in its class cones even close. You have to spend an extra $20k on a BMW or Mercedes level vehicle to compete.

      Subaru REALLY needs to take that under powered engine out of there and either put in a 2.5 as a base engine or throw in a turbo. Those engines are not made for merging onto highways or passing and if you do try to pass, you better give yourself some time because it's gonna be a while.

      DonkeyKong2222 What are you talking about? I’ve never had an issue getting up to speed on the highway. And they’re putting in the 2.5 but only in the Limited and Sport models for 2021. I assume they’ll keep the 2.0 for the other trims. But I’ve never had an issue with merging or getting up to speed. I guess it depends who the driver is...
