@@christinehcanada ,you won't regret it . Been there 8 times and going to retire there single myself soon. Matagalpa city is not as touristy so a real down to earth place to be . i have 2 little dogs to bring so deciding whether to drive or fly.

Great video and great guy and love his positive vibe. I am one that doesn't listen to the fear mongering media about anything. I can't wait to visit Nicaragua especially for the people and culture and history!! I live permanently in Costa Rica so we aren't far !! Although we love our Pura Vida lives here among the Locals everything has gotten much more expensive because of all the foreigners moving in. We don't live at the touristy areas with other foreigners because we didn't want to be in that bubble. I have wanted to visit Nicaragua for some time now and soon in near future we will plan a trip.
I made one huge mistake a year after arriving--leaving. Once I have some things fixed which need to be attended to, I WILL be driving back from Alabama.
I love Rancho Santana (dream retirement community. It's better than any other resort there. Also, I would recommend San Juan Del Sur It's a great ex-pat community with a lot more of the amenities that we are used to in the western countries. Love Nicaragua... just a Fl resident but plans on living there permanently in a few years 🎉

Maybe I missed it, but, you said you live in Rivas but in the video you stated you are visiting north of Managua. Where exactly did this interview take place where you were visiting? Just curious. What you say is true; the mangos, the fruits in variety, the simplicity of life, Nicaraguans are people that will look after you, etc. I lived in the Department of Granada in a small town known for witchcraft called Diriá. This little town is where I lived for 2 years and it was about a one-hour bus ride south of Managua. I lived there in the United States Peace Corps. Had a very good experience! Lol 67 and solo, my big issue is my toy poodle…lol…5 lbs….I want to hike and swim and move about and she is a lap dog…how Nicaraguans with pets…could I find a pet sitter? BTW, soy de Puerto Rico! Most towns in Nicaragua are quite walkable and for shopping, there are shared taxis. Only city that’s not so walkable is Managua. Inter city buses can be challenging. Try to get express buses with tickets. Taxis between cities can be expensive.

If you want to become a resident, talk to the Nicaraguan consulate in Mexico about what you’d need. Monthly minimum income for one person is $1k. People do live on less, but for foreign residents, that will be a lower middle class life.

I'm trying to learn Spanish so I can visit beautiful countries like this. I have been to Yucatan x2 and it was very nice, and the people were so kind. I was considering snowbirding in Mexico, but maybe Nicaragua. What is better Atlantic or Pacific, North or South? Gracias!
