    A trick is if you dont have a caliper, get a spare piece of plastic and bore one hole of each bit size unto the plastic. You can use those holes to test the closest size your dowell matches. This has the advantage of being an actual fit test. Although you might have to remake this guide every now and then as some of the holes may loosen up over time from all the testing.

    • @lenny_1369
      @lenny_1369 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      for me i didnt have to boar a hole because i didnt have a drill, i just heated up a piece of broken tamtax piece and stuck it on the broken joint, after that i carefully heated up the piece again and melted a whole on through the crotch, when i was sure it was alligned properly i applied super glue and held it all for a few seconds, and voila!

    broke a leg joint for my RG Banshee Norn same kind of joing you showed in this video, gon use this advice. Thanks in advance! The peg is a little small but it is a load bearing peg so I'm using a rather thin 0.5 mm rod to put into it. You think something like this will work to extend the length of some limbs with soft plastic?
    Want to extend the peg of the arm joints of the MG GM sniper ii, the small peg coming down from the shoulder and see if I can extend the ones in the chest. But I don't know if it hold up the constant movement while I'm customizing the rest of the kit.

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it will. With the metal rod inside, the joint has an incredible amount of strength. If you drill deeper, it'll get you even more strength at the cost of being a bit hard to stick the rod inside when you're gluing

    Do you know what product to use to replace a broken high grade polycaps? Will epoxy clay work well replacing it?

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's not something really odd, then it's easier to just ask if a friend has an extra. If that's not possible, then it's possible to make one out of plastic plates and rod stock -- but you'd need another one of the polycap for measurements. Epoxy is very good against compression strength but isn't strong against expansion, so I imagine it might rip or crack

    • @HobbyClubhouse
      @HobbyClubhouse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah, super late reply, but if you mean you can't open the part to gain access to the peg like I did, then you'll need pliers to grip the peg. If that doesn't work, then you can drill the hole directly into the peg if you can, and then glue the metal rod stock into it and try pulling it out after it hardens (there's a risk the peg can tear and have a second break though)

      If you mean the shoulder peg, looking at some photos of the frame, that peg sits on a thin L-shaped piece and that's not good for this kind of repair. There's not enough plastic on the L-shaped part to anchor the peg firmly -- but really, there's no harm in trying. It's possible it's just strong enough to hold.
