we all know how this went right? :: ooooh.. Abus.. goody goody goody.. record.. pick cut open.. shit who's this from.. it's open.. post. I'll be expecting this back in one piece Bill :) jk.
Getting Better at Music it's all a conspiricy developed by the government to control our minds, they did it on the hill when the aliens landed. If everything we do is decided 3 seconds earlier in our subconscious mind, how can we be held accountable for our actions? See told you so!
I am very fan of your work, I am Brazilian and I work with opening doors, locks and safes and your videos always help me when I have some doubts !! I hope one day I can be as good as you !!
you are so awesome! I am an apprentice in Kingman az, U.S. My grandmother in my trainer and she has been in the business for 25 years she loved this video too!! keep up the great work!
Hello Bill, Great video! Thank you. I think i just hold my breath for three minutes ;-) I've watched a bunch of your video's, but still it's very difficult for me to pick one of mine practicing locks. Anyway, you inspire me to push on! Thank you very much Sir.
Hey Bill, you might try clamping a small metal square to the side of the lock as you pick, oriented so a flat face of it faces the voice microphone. (2x2 sheet metal, with a corner bent for clamping???) It might direct the picking sounds so that they would be louder on the video. Thanks so much, great stuff.
Very interesting, but not as weird as I thought it would be, the only thing i hadn't seen before was that little T-Pin, it looked like it had tapered ends on it. Nice video as usual Bill.
The Backoffice Another option would be to use a physical 2 channel mic mixer..but it's added complexity and would risk ruining the audio for a whole video. On balance, i think it's good as it is.
It's really interesting that you can buy a lock that look like a real good one with side pin, but It's only a facade. Make more money but giving you less protection but looking you have more. I really like this channel to know which lock to buy whiteout paying this locks.
hello I had a question I wanted to see should I get a beginner set from sparrow or peterson or southord I was looking at the sparrow tuxedo or maybe there next kit up I've been using off brand sets that have been giving to me but I would like a nicer more quality set up
As someone who watches Bills videos just because they're so peaceful and who hasn't tried picking, I did wonder what manufacturers say when he picks their pride a joy in less than five minutes.
tbh.. the only worrisome thing Bill said is that it's easily snap-able.. Picking is not an indication for the lock's quality, since thieves don't do it (too slow).
When I ordered this for Bill, I was thinking of buying one of these for my door.. it's 60$ about.. and I thought the side pins were active.. Since they're not.. and because of the snap-comment.. I'm looking for something else :) What really got me was the "low-end" comment :) Was a good video though.
it seems like it would be so easy to make all those passive pins into active pins.. why do they go to so much trouble to make all these complex key control pins and not make them active at the same time for way more security?
Apart from the fact that those dimples obviously are somewhat active, the rest of that machining they did on the same side is to make copying these keys impossible.
Funny that the side pins are passive. Abus is saying that they are an active anti-picking feature. www.abus.com/ger/Sicherheit-Zuhause/Tuersicherheit/Tuerzylinder/XP10 At the bottom: "Hochwertiges Schließsystem mit acht unabhängigen Schließelementen in zwei Stiftebenen" --> "High quality locking system with eight independent locking elements in two Pin-layers" False advertising much?
Passive side pins might pose a formidable obstacle to picking if a lock featured some on each side, pushing in on any side pin would prevent the lock from rotating very far, and only one of the main pins came before the side pins in the binding order (one main pin would need to come first, to hold the lock at an angle that would allow the side pins to move when inserting the key).
There really needs to be standardisation in the whole lock security rating numbers... For a lock that claims to be an 8/10 having no snap resistance is pretty shocking, especially given how that is a very common way people force entry. It seems a bit dishonest to show a lock with side pin dimples...but are completely inactive. Although it's million miles better than Master Lock's 9/10 excell padlocks!
IT'S NOT CHROME!! its nickel plated!! plating with chrome is difficult and thus expensive plus it has risks, nickel plating is way cheaper and plates to brass very well, and there's no hexavalent chromium issue nickel plate is fairly bright, while chrome has a slightly dark sheen
There was a baby fire ant about 5 houses to the left of your house, that was walking on their main entrance front door. The sound of the ants feet walking was very annoying to listen to and distracted me from your video. Please check the bugs and such in your neighborhood before making a video next time. If the humidity had been 1.947% higher, it would have muffled the sound enough to not interfere. Just trying to help. Keep up the good work. (I'm joking about the ant). As far as the sound, I have always been able to hear every click of the locks in your videos, so I don't think I would notice any difference, other than maybe hear pins sliding and scraping?
Pint Hunters should it also be fitted in a door out in the rain? The lock really doesn't care. Open is open. Bill has demonstrated picking Euro locks oriented the intended way before, he's just doing what's most comfortable to him.
You're welcome Bill :) I did warn you .. seems it arrived 7 days early :)

Great job picking this Mr.Bill, Awesome lock to
Corrie Dunstan please get help
I am very fan of your work, I am Brazilian and I work with opening doors, locks and safes and your videos always help me when I have some doubts !! I hope one day I can be as good as you !!
It never ceases to amaze me how much work goes in to making even a cheap lock. Amazing to see the locks deconstructed.
you are so awesome! I am an apprentice in Kingman az, U.S. My grandmother in my trainer and she has been in the business for 25 years she loved this video too!! keep up the great work!

*Fling!* "Well, we won't be finding that again..."
Laughed so good I had to watch it 5 times!
I heard that spring clip hit behind you to the left and bounce off two other objects. so there's a starting place to find it. great show. thanks.
It seems like you have really figured out where to put the mic, I can hear you and the lock equally well.
Very interesting, but not as weird as I thought it would be, the only thing i hadn't seen before was that little T-Pin, it looked like it had tapered ends on it. Nice video as usual Bill.
"Government = no accountability"... true statement, that one. Cheers! Chris.
Ain't that the truth. Look what we've had to deal with over the past decade at least.
CrossWood (edit, sorry replied to wrong comment)
nicely done. I picked my first lock in De Funiak Springs, Fl. too.
It might be interesting to see how you put a lock back together.
Bill, you could consider splitting the two, one mic on the left channel and the other on the right channel and adjust the mix in your software.
I'm guessing he doesn't like editing as he says he can't mix the 2 mics
The Backoffice Another option would be to use a physical 2 channel mic mixer..but it's added complexity and would risk ruining the audio for a whole video. On balance, i think it's good as it is.

Nice view of the tension wrench
That fat pin on the side that didnt come out is just a key stop and engages the slot of the side of the key
That warding looks painful. Great video, Great job. It's always enjoyable watching your videos, keep up the great work!

I noticed that, and even I know to buy a decent anti snap, anti bump (maybe) lock.
When I ordered this for Bill, I was thinking of buying one of these for my door.. it's 60$ about.. and I thought the side pins were active.. Since they're not.. and because of the snap-comment.. Passive side pin, are they just anti bump measures?
If you're talking about the one Bill didn't take out.. probably yes.. the others are just key-control : aka making money off selling keys.
Great picking there bill, loved that lock and the warding was gory.
you can use more than one mic. you just need to record the second mic to a second device and then import the audio in post.
Another great video Bosnian Bill. Nice looking lock also. What a nightmare keyway.
quite pricey cylinders, shame they are not snap proof, there we go at 6:55 you mention the snapp ablility
About half the price of a MT5+ core.
hi i want to ask what instrument i need to use for unlocking cheap furniture lock
Just curious why you often pic the Euros upside down?
it seems like it would be so easy to make all those passive pins into active pins.. why do they go to so much trouble to make all these complex key control pins and not make them active at the same time for way more security?
Actually Bill you have had one of these picked in your video 547 - 3 years ago :D
(I was the culprit back then)
Again a lovely open :D
Hi Bill, what type of vice do you use to hold your locks and where can you buy them from and what's the cost???? I'm in the uk. Cheers Gaz
Gareth Brown try the description
I don't understand what you mean?????
Read the description! 😫
Dani
Where is the description to tell me what vice you use to hold the locks!!!!!! 😤
Apart from the fact that those dimples obviously are somewhat active, the rest of that machining they did on the same side is to make copying these keys impossible.
Have you ever tried to pick a car ignition cylinder? If not it would be nice to see you try
ha ha. "like our government, no accountability". LOVE IT
nice microphone bill much better sound quality
Thank you for the video
What you do about my digital tho?
i would like to try that lock b-bill
Nice lock, nice job.
Very nice lock
Hello Bosnainbill I enjoy watching your video's
great job!
Reminds me of the Pfaffenhein core.
That thing looks like an evil pfaffenhain!
Funny that the side pins are passive. Abus is saying that they are an active anti-picking feature.

that came direct from Germany =D
Yup.. I ordered it from Amazon germany and gave Bill's address :) couldn't find it on the US Amazon.
Getting Better at Music sehr coole Aktion!!👍..wir haben ebenfalls ein video zu dem xp10😉
Isn't there a danger of him having to pay a customs tax?
I don't think so. At least I haven't heard Bill talk about that when he got packages from Australia..
T&J's Lockpicking Nord vielen dank. ich werde mahl sehen.
I thought you will need more time to open this lock
time to invest in a mic mixer!
There really needs to be standardisation in the whole lock security rating numbers...

Fascinating.
2:55 The ASMR squad noticed you apparently :D
Nice pick! Very interesting and informative lock. Great video as usual. Send one to me lol!
Nice lock.
you rock bill
Hey Bill, have you ever picked a BiLock?
If that was a lvl. 8 security lock, I'm guessing lvl. 1 is just a doorknob.
Level 1 is a large wooden plank
Am i the only one waiting for him to say "focus you fuck"?
Genius
I thought bill was a Trump Supporter. Praise KeK
Jack Buxton he is! kek wills it
Lyon.R6 i thought so. thank you good wise sir
Trouble maker lock

I'm not sure why everyone is so concerned with the lock sounds.
You could hear them plain as day when the mic wasn't near the lock.
😲
Wow
No way
Pixelated huh?
Did you even see my pic?
Seriously tho
And you're tapper block
this is not lockpicking, thats cheating. try to pick it if the lock is not upside down.
Pint Hunters should it also be fitted in a door out in the rain?
