    YOU picked it on camera, that is the main thing. I have been doing this for Years, worked at 2 lock shops, going through college. I though I was good, damn good, but I am NOTHING compared to You lock pick video guys !! The stuff You open is INSANE !!!

    Just returned from an InfoSec convention and Toool had a lockpick table was able to successfully pick on my first lock (small Master Lock) skipped training cylinders as I've figured it would make the victory sweeter. by the end of convention was able to pick a small blue Abus lock. When I can afford to buy a pick set and a few lovks to tinker with, i will must certainly get into this as a hobby. love the channel, keep uploading videos and I'll keep watching.

    They are pretty good, Abus. I can never help feeling impressed by the quality of those lock making companies that actually ARE good.

    You should have been a dentist........ you have great skills with your hands and an ability to "feel" the most minute difference in pin position. My dentist just sticks the pick in my mouth and attempts to bitch pick and rake until I yell!!!!! Plus he uses his fourth finger as a tensioner!!

    • @jacobjason9879
      @jacobjason9879 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      he needs to do that to evaluate your teeth. do they have deep cavities or shallow?. is your tooth soft or hard and many things. if it feels super painful just by touching it then there is no need for further probing. but if it is a class V and he went and picked your gingiva. see someone else. unless it extends to 2 surfaces. I am a dentist. idk if you take care of your teeth or not. but nobody touches my mouth. as long as there is nothing wrong with it. "if its ain't broke don't fix it". btw bill is better off lock picking. unless he doesn't mind one day being a hunchback. no matter how much you follow the protocols. it is very possible to have shoulder, neck and back problems in the future for the rest of your life.

    There was no sidebar - the groove in the bottom was for the bottom pins and they appear to be purely key control (notice that they had reduced diameter and springs pressing them out towards the bible). It appears that it was actually an 11 pin lock, where the five sidepins acted as ordinary pins ... or did I miss something..?

    Truly an ominous lock! I'm curious - would it have been possible to pick this if you didn't have the key to look at first? There's a lot of mystery solved by seeing the key.

    VERY nice eviction. I've never tried to open a dimple lock. Remind me to not use one of those as my first attempt.
    We interrupt this broadcast due to technical difficulties.. Lol I remember that from old school television days. Sh*t happens. It didn't detract from the video at all.

  • @MerkDolf
    @MerkDolf 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Wait! what evicted? Put it back together and pick it again all on camera :pI still enjoy your videos. What if you got a web-cam and did top-down view the whole time so if your main cam battery dies as it has done a few times in the past you could at least use all the footage from the webcam. Any thanks for the fun hope you keep enjoying as well.

    • @InsaneFirebat
      @InsaneFirebat 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MerkDolf one of the speedrunners I watch does something similar. His capture software started crashing one day and it ruined a couple runs. He pointed a webcam at his TV and left a small window for it on the side. Some viewers liked the Star Wars effect (because of the camera angle) so he kept it around after the problem was solved.

    • @MerkDolf
      @MerkDolf 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh two camera angles that could be nice as well! I just noticed the need for better proofreading at the end of my comment it should have stated any way, thanks... not any thanks.

    (12:21 "I don't know what that guy in the back there does") If you had continued to turn the cylinder even further after your pick, the rearmost upper pin would have engaged & stopped you.

      @@fernandosm2066 There are Bravus with magnets: 2500 and 3500. A copied key without the magnet will be useless. These versions also feature pulling protection and higher drilling protection.

    • @bosnianbill
      @bosnianbill  7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Nope, but I appreciate it. Any break in the video nullifies the attempt... that's the only way we can be sure someone isn't deceptive. In my case, i could have switched out locks during the battery break, moving out a partially unpinned (easy) lock and moving in an unmodified cylinder for the gutting.

      You could get a cheap secondary camera from a different angle (across the workshop) that is able to be plugged in while mounted. Then use it as a picture-in-picture only on videos where the primary camera causes you problems.
      Even a cheap vehicle dash cam would work for this. I have one that was about $20 USD and a 8GB card will record about 10 hours on it. (though low-light visibility is absolutely terrible on it... but I wasn't expecting much at that price.)

    • @bosnianbill
      @bosnianbill  7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      This is the best idea I've heard! I have plenty of Mobius and Runcam 2s lying around that I use on my quadcopters. They would be perfect "insurance" when I pick challenges. Thank you!!!

      So Bill, when can we expect a Protec or Protec2 picking video? :P
      You know i'm just kidding mate, excellent picking as usual. I know it doesn't count to you because of the battery misbehaving but we know you're not about claiming false credit, you wouldn't have posted this video at all if you didn't actually pick it.
      As an aside, you didn't ever answer my question about your 50mm BiLock brass padlock, did you ever end up picking that bad boy? The one in question is the fixed core with BiLock stamped on the front of it.

    Hi Bill! First of all, I have to say the channel and yourself are amazing! Being someone just looking to find a good lock, I ended up binge watching several of your videos! I have one question though: are all euro thumb turn cylinders bypassable? Or something like this Abus (a thumb turn version) would have some sort of protection against the bypass? Thanks and keep up the good work! :)

    What about a "fake battery"? If theres no "fake battery" for your camera model, you can usually make one yourself. A "fake battery" is a "battery" which is made out of a wood block, plastic block or whatever, with electrical contacts just where the real contacts are. Then you wire this "fake battery" to a wall adapter. NOTE **IMPORTANT** Don't use the wall adapter that shipped with the camera, it usually have a higher voltage than the battery voltage to allow for charging. The best is to use a mains adapter which have roughtly +- 0,4 V the nominal battery voltage, so if you have a 3.6 V battery, a adapter between 3,3 and 4,0 volts is usually okay. When using a "fake battery", you often have to carve a little jack in the battery door so the cable can come out.
    The idea is in other words, having a wall adapter that "pretends" to be the battery itself, instead of having a wall adapter into the charging port.
    The advantage of using a "fake battery" opposed to soldering wires directly on the battery acceptor contacts, is that if you is travelling and do not have access to a wall plug, you can easily pop out the "fake battery" and put in a real battery.
    Using a "fake battery" solves two things, one is the bad location of the charging plug, but the second advantage is that you avoid the constant charging of a battery, which can both have safety issues, but also make for videos that cut off, especially if the camera won't run without battery, regardless of charger or not.
    Anyways, when the text "Take off your headphones" came up, I tought you were going to push the screwdriver though your hand when trying to get rid of that clip and then scream of pain.

    I see this all the time. TH-camrs with fixed indoor camera positions, using batteries. Why don't they use mains adaptors?

      Because my power charging plug is on the bottom of the camera, so when it is plugged in I can't mount it on the tripod... I WISH... that would be the perfect solution.

      I might be uneducated on how tripods work, but would it be possible to record upside down, and just flip the recording in editing?

      My guess is the tripod mount threads into the camera and the power port Bill is referring to is either obscured, covered or otherwise not accessible when the camera is mounted. The would make it impossible to plug in, regardless of orientation.

      If the camera was mounted upside down the viewport would also be upside down...

      Your Camera might fit in it, and you could use the USB Port.

    I know that you know this, people are possibly wearing headphones. I also believe that I may get publicly shunned for this, but do you listen to a video before you publish it with the mindset of those with earphones or headphones?
