Great video Fransicso. I changed mine in a 2012 750li xdrive. A short time later I notice the plastic shattered and separated again. Instead of buying new pcv valves I removed the plastic hose from both ends of the connectors and replaced it with 5/8th heater hose I got from Autozone. I cut the hose down to size. I secured the hose onto the connectors with metal circular hose clamps that I got from Autozone as well. It's been quite a while and I'd say about 12k miles since I did this and no issues what so ever.

Great video!!! did you replace the PCV´s because you had a problem with some smoke in the tailpipe? or just because as you showed up, one of them was broken? Thanks!!!
If you dig deep into some bimmer forums, specifically n63. These PCV hoses/check valve (the whole damn piece) is trash. It’s been recommended from a few n63 fellas to replace this yearly. Also saw a “upgraded” homemade modification for it with just a 3/4” rubber heater hose clamped on instead of that cheap plastic ribbed crap. Also lets it breath just a little more

Don't pry the pipes out of the valve covers. They must be rotated towards the rear of the car about 30deg and extracted without prying. Otherwise you will break the plastic tabs and pieces will fall into the camshaft chamber. Not a huge deal, but a finer point.

Hi Francisico, I just came across your video. Excellent job. Can the PCV valve cause the drivetrain transmission faliure with multiple missfire on driverside bank only
Curious to see if you found an answer. Everything on mine was fine until the pcv hose snapped in half, immediately went into limp mode with I’m sure the same message (not transmission message tho) and all cylinders on that side were misfiring, getting ready to replace the part, hopefully takes care of it all lol. I don’t see why not when it was working before the hose snapped.
Great Video. Just changed mine today. The pipe broke in 3 pieces after touching it a bit. And oil leaked out of the pipe motor entry. So that was necessary. Excellent video. Just had the 2 PCV valves and plastic hoses replaced on my 2011 550i after I started smelling fumes in the cabin. The plastic hoses on the PCV valve assembly were so brittle you could crack and crumble it with your hands. What is interesting is that the problem with fumes in the cabin occurred right after I put in a can of Liqui Moly Jectron fuel injector cleaner in my fuel tank. Had never used that cleaner before. Previously just used Seafoam. Wondering if that Liqui Moly cleaner reacts with the plastic on this valve assembly. Yes this PCV valve assembly is a common issue needing replacement on these engines (really poor "German Engineering"...the turbo cooks this plastic PCV assembly over time). BUT, really wondering should I be hesitant to use Lidui Moly in the future due for fear it will break down the plastic on the crankcase valve assemblies? Anyone have any experienced insight on this?

Hello, I have a 2009 BMW 750i with a 4.8 engine and it seems to be losing power. Upon checking, the PCV valves were broken, which I replaced, and it stopped losing oil. However, about a month later, it began leaking oil again. I believe the valves are failing again since trying to remove the oil cap is difficult as it seems to be suctioned in place. Also, when starting the engine, a message appears on the screen saying "engine heating" but it disappears after a few seconds and does not stay on permanently. Additionally, when I accelerate suddenly, a "power loss" message appears, which goes away after turning the engine off and on again. It's worth noting that I changed the two turbos, alternator, water pump, and thermostat to rule out the power loss issue. I sent it to mechanics, but in my city, there is no one specialized in this brand. I would appreciate any suggestions, please. Thank you.

Exhaust smell? I just replaced my turbo to downpipe seals ($25ea) yesterday, that got rid of my smell, but I did do some work with the downpipes and they are one-time-use seals so skipping their replacement led to me inhaling exhaust fumes inside the car until I replaced them
I just went through this same process. Engine now runs smooth with no codes. However, i now have excessive vacume in the crankcase. The CCV hoses i pulled out came out in pieces so they were obviously cracked. Now that it is sealed i have so much vacume that it is sucking in air from the rear main seal (i think) and makes a squeeling noise. The oil cap is very difficult to remove. Once removed, the noise goes away. Not sure what to look at next perhaps oil separators?

Yet another VICTIM to BMW's intentional bad design right here folks. I had serious misfiring, loss of power, and thicker smoke coming from my exhaust. Turned out my PCV breather hose was broken in two. I believe BMW engineer their parts to last the duration of its original warranties...then they begin to fail, keeping owners spending money on their parts and repairs. I ordered new hoses for both banks, but it was going to be about a week before I would be able to pick them up. So what I did in the mean while was, I went to Lowes and bought a 1/2" × 2' copper tube; a role of heater hose; and 2 hose clamps. I removed the crinkled part of the hose COMPLETELY. Before doing so, I measured the length of the crinkled section and cut a portion of the heater hose the same length. I then cut the copper tubing around 1 1/2" shorter than the heater hose. I then lubed the copper tubing with lithium grease and pushed the copper tube into the heater hose to where it was centered. I then loosely slid the hose clamps onto the hose and then attached the hose onto the two end sections of the PCV hose...then tightened the clamps at each end. The purpose of the copper tubing is to prevent the heater hose from becoming soft from heat and caving in due to the vacuum. THIS WORKED GREAT!!! As a matter of fact, I TRULY believe it's better than the OE. I plan to not use the hoses I purchased unless I HAVE TO. But with this fix, I don't see why I will. So I'll just hold onto them. I don't see why BMW couldn't do this to begin with.
I have the same problem . But with major oil consumption. And a bad smell inside the car like rotten eggs well maybe burning oil 🤷🏾♂️. Everyone Is saying bad valve seals or bad or broken piston or piston ring . Bmw changed valve seals 50k miles before. So I’m saying does this mean every 50k miles I need to change seals 🤦🏾♂️. The only reason I can’t figure out my problem is because bmw want to charge $1800 to diagnose , talking about leak down and compression Test. I brought my car to a one guy shop who claim he was so competent in fixing bmw’s…this joker said to me. He put a camera in my engine and there was whole lot of oil in the engine and he don’t have the shop to do the work … And charged $125 . NO SHIT Sherlock--- who wouldn’t guess there was oil in the engine . Where the fuck is the diagnosis . Like u know The cause of the problem .? 🤦🏾♂️ I tried to harass bmw about why the fuck is they trying to charge me $1800 to tell me what’s wrong with my car ,when a diagnosis is $150. If it’s this compression and leak down bullshit costing so much. Then leave that out and go to the top list of potential issues. Because what if my problem is a $1000 fix. I just spent close to 3 grand for what .? What do people fart and money come out.? So They refused to back down even after i called corporate. They intentionally let every warranty run out on me. Because my car was in the shop before warranty ran out . I had brought it in for diag when they said to me it would cost $1800 to go further I’m just stuck with a car that is parked in my yard, I’m still paying the loan & insurance for and I can’t figure out what the fuck is it’s damn problem.! Now I came across these videos and starting to think maybe my problem is one of these pcv valve things. That would be such a blessing , That I don’t have to think about big money cracking open engine fixes . I pray so hard 🙏
Its a damn shame BMW would engineer the PVC parts out of that brittle plastic that only last a few years because of the heat. Anyone know of better after market parts that won’t crack
I have a 2011 bmw x5 xdrive50i twin turbo E70 and in having a misfire could it be caused by the pcv valve . I just changed those tubes out last month on my wife’s 2015 750 li. Cost me $400. And that’s a Engineer defect because the plastic shatters after a while because of the heat.
Yes, that plastic is not very good. It has limited flexibility and that doesn't help too.
I.E. Euros have you ever changed out a heads-up display on a 750 li?
Yes, I have.
What is going on with yours?
I.E. Euros mine is not working and I need to replace it, but idk how. I’ve heard it’s a pain because the dash has to be taken apart.

Have you check you fuses?
Can the PCV valve make your engine light go on?
Hi Francisco
How do we know its bad ? Oil in it ?
What is the part numbers for the PCV valves of 2010 X6M 4.4L S63?
Hi I have my broke from left and right side , this make Bmw Misfire?
Is this a tu?
Do you have a shop need some work on my BMW
Is this dsame for a 2010 bmw 750li
Can you do the other side
Would a cracked / broken PCV valve line cause a smell to enter the interior compartment when accelerating hard ?
Exhaust smell? I just replaced my turbo to downpipe seals ($25ea) yesterday, that got rid of my smell, but I did do some work with the downpipes and they are one-time-use seals so skipping their replacement led to me inhaling exhaust fumes inside the car until I replaced them
@@invincibearofficial did u get that smell when accelerating hard?
Can you tell if they were clogged or not? What was the reason for changing them? excessive oil consumption?
They break usually.
The little valve gets stuck sometimes.
I.E. Euros hi after changing them both how long should it take the car to stop smoking?
The PCV hoses actually twist and come out on the 14 750 Li x drive. When I say what a pain in the butt lol
Do you have the website of where I can buy these ?
Is this PCV valve help
To fix the white smoke 💨
Yes, that could be a cause
Would a broken pcv valve possibly cause rodknock?
no buddy sorry. you spun a bearing. Thats what happens when you buy a N63. and then proceed to run it low on oil. :)
Not sure what to look at next perhaps oil separators?
have you figured this problem out ? really wish i knew the answer
@@jshifty9618 it turned out, after many hours and a lot of $ in parts I didn't need to replace, I had defective CCV hoses from Rein. I installed OEMs and the issue went away instantly.
@@paulsandgren8625 glad it turned out into you favor ! i’m looking to get a 550 also 2011 but i’m scared i’ll be spending more on maintenance then what i originally paid for. the dealership is very legit so that kindof makes me think they won’t sell a shit car but then again i know nothing about cars until i look up what i need to know smh
@@jshifty9618 try to.find out if the car had the timing chain and Valve stem seals service done. I went to my local dealer and the service gal looked it up for me. Those are the 2 main problems with that engine
If you're not comfortable wrenching on your own car and have to worry about the cost of service, then this car is probably not for you.
Exactly
Well said
I have the same problem .
He put a camera in my engine and there was whole lot of oil in the engine and he don’t have the shop to do the work …
And charged $125 .
NO SHIT Sherlock--- who wouldn’t guess there was oil in the engine . Where the fuck is the diagnosis . Like u know
The cause of the problem .? 🤦🏾♂️
I tried to harass bmw about why the fuck is they trying to charge me $1800 to tell me what’s wrong with my car ,when a diagnosis is $150.
I had brought it in for diag when they said to me it would cost $1800 to go further
I’m just stuck with a car that is parked in my yard, I’m still paying the loan & insurance for and I can’t figure out what the fuck is it’s damn problem.!
Now I came across these videos and starting to think maybe my problem is one of these pcv valve things.
That would be such a blessing ,
That I don’t have to think about big money cracking open engine fixes .
I changed all the spark plugs all the ignition coils and 2 new injectors because I was getting a code on cylinder 4 and 8 misfire but since I changed everything I am still getting the same codes 4 and 8 P0304 P0308
Probably you have carbon in the intake valves. Buy a intake valve cleaner to add it with the engine running , One or two if it needed. Clean the codes and start the engine
@@IEEuros thank you for replying i will do that im going to go ahead and replace the pcv valves i saw that they also cause a misfire .good job on the video.
I.E. Euros My issue right now and I think I have a bad RFM module :/. Fucking bmw’s...
@@IEEuros how do I clean the intake valves do you have a video on how to do it
The update I replaced the 2 pcv valves and it still doing the same I get the same misfire code
Same replaced throttle body. & map sensor & PVC HOSES & valves - now they say it’s the intake manifold needs replacement
is the lower bolt @4:57 difficult to get to?
hello , i have n63tu engine rebuild it 15k km ago and it started smoking , on cold it has missfires when it warms up missfires goes away, could it be pcv valves cloged up ?
Yes, that could be the cause.
I just subscribed to your channel. I have the same car. I recently started having problems & check engine light. First one was Dmtl fuel pump leak. After driving for 2 days. I did a burnout fresh tires I got then after it went into limp mode & start to show drive train malfunction in the engine. I drove it for a little to park it and start smoking from the engine but the car wasn’t overheating. Put the computer on it the error codes were running a code saying running lean & all cylinders misfire. It starts back up without a issue but it goes back into limp mode & sometimes shut off on its own. However I noticed a air seeping sound from the engine when it’s being rev. Please can someone help me find out what could be the issue here
I have had my Xdrive50i n63 Xdrive50i in bmw for 6+ months . Tryin to eliminate the issue too .
So much has been replaced -
- first it was the injectors, $6000
- map sensor & throttle body
PCV valve & hoses replaced
Then more hoses
- now it’s the intake manifold that has pin size holes - they want $1600 to fix 1 (think left side )
@@stopcorruptioninozqoa2030 Same vehicle same issues, they never stop. If I had BMW fix the issues I'd be broke.
Thank You!!!!!
thank you
I changed both stem valve seals on my 07 750Li and still had black smoke only when standing in line in the drive-through. dont know what to do next. The oil level is not dropping at least from what I can see. Any advice?
Did you replace the PCV?
@@IEEuros Yes two of them and I took the vale guide and clean it pretty good. My thing is, I did add two bottles of Foam not at the same time and considering both seals were bad maybe the engine is getting rid of what leaked inside and hope it will stop after a while.
Why can’t I find the part? What is the part number
It is on the video the part number.
What is the year and model of your bmw
Another question. How hard is it to replace the oil return lines in the front of the car?
Never replace just PCV valve.
Replace rest of the hoses too.
90% of them are clocked
For PCv valve
