Finally got the leak on my 2009 750li with 125,000 km’s - replacing it all with silicone and metal tee’s & wye’s. So glad you posted it for others to see - did all of the hoses, on a warm engine in about an hour, including disassembly and changing filters.
Dude! Best of luck with the Alpina! From what Ive heard, those things are crazy hard to work on! That brass and metal "T" connectors looks like a great fix though! You got this man!!!
Nice video man. I just did my pcv valves yesterday , injectors and spark plugs. Got maf sensors on the way. Brake pads and rotars. Fresh 5w40 liqui Molly oil with 2 can of Oil saver to lower consumption. These cars LOVE MAINTENANCE LOL
Overall an excellent how-to video. Helped me plenty. However, I used stainless steel ring clamps. Forget those stupid one-time use clamps. Can you believe BMW quoted me $3k-4k to this!! “Yes, we have to remove the turbos…blah, blah, blah”! My ass! They do the exact same thing you and I did!! Anyway, thank you so much!
Great video, it really gave me important information about the coolant system on the n63 engine especially the best material to use hose adapters. Prevention is the best cure on this BMW engine.
What are the part numbers on those hoses you replaced and pvc hoses that was broken that is a main oil consumption and burning out the tail pipes I’ve heard.
Bmw, or specifically rolls royce, claim the metal T fittings get a lot hotter than the plastic counter part and cause hose swelling and splitting earlier than if used with a plastic piece. While the T won't break, the hoses will and at an accelerated rate.
It's simple... Do thermostat change for coolant stay more cool, and ad some motul moocol to help coolant stay at lower temp. This engine work very hot in summer.
Thanks for the video. I just had the coolant system on my 750i G11 (2016) replaced due to leakage. Exactly as shown here. It is pretty amazing to me that BMW puts all this rubber and plastic near the hottest part of the engine. It is a matter of time before it breaks down. I am just wondering what will break next...
I'm having issues with my 2016 G12 as well. What did you end up replacing? The diagnosis for me was the connector from the reservoir to the lines going to the heat exchanger/radiator. Was squirting everywhere.....
Good video! But, in the end, there is no need to top up small fluid tank, because it is for separate coolant circuit that cools air with 2 intercoolers. So it is not for cooling turbos, turbos are cooled by main circuit, so you need to top up the main fluid tank. Did you run the proceedure of air bleeding? Since during first start after repair lines are full of air and no water is coming through turbo it is very significant

What doesn't make sense to my engineer's mind is why BMW can't use higher temperature plastics under the hood. Deteriorating plastic parts have been a known problem since the 1995 Ee38 740 and 750. One more question: did I see that you are installing some replacement hoses? Did you use OEM parts or aftermarket hose?
BMW uses biodegradable plastics that have a certain life/heat cycles, hence they fail. I wonder if they can use metal instead 🤔 but then again BMW's ideal consumers will not use their cars past 30-50k miles (that's why they market certain oils as lifetime fluids).
Great vid. What year is this Alpina B7. Is this the T63U version 3 motor? We have a 2021 X7 M50i. I’ve read many of the earlier issues have been addressed in the later N63’s. Thanks. Subscribed!
I have a n63tu3 in a m850i and dealer says leak test reveals no leaks but I smell coolant near radiator after engine shutdown and have to refill every 7k miles or so, very frustrating. Coolant reservoir and engine valley are dry.
He'd had this car for several years now, and if I recall correctly, the last owner was a basketball/football player of some sort. The spec is similar though! Thanks for watching 😊
I'm trying to locate a coolant leak on my S63 engine. It's in the same area, causing my alternator to fling water everywhere. I replaced the plastic Y with a metal T, and it's still doing the same thing. The fitting doesn't look wet, but there's coolant back there. It sprays out and get all over everything. I checked the hoses for holes or tears, and I don't see anything anywhere!! It looks fine! I don't get it. Is there another secret water line up around the alternator somewhere? I am at a loss.
On my F01 750i MSport, the hoses are 12 or 13 mm. I recommend you get 1/2" tees. The shorter hoses can be replaced by 1/2" ID radiator hose. There is one hose that is molded into a 90 ell.....you can make a new assembly by using a 90 deg brass ell and two short pieces of straight hose.
I do NOT recommend pinch clamps. If for any reason the joint needs to be made tighter, that clamps can't be adjusted and are difficult to removed. Get the standard screw-type clamps.
@@mbashir393 one point.....some of the hoses are molded by BMW. It will take a bit of doing but the model shapes can be replaced with the metal tubing fittings and fresh hose. Sorry I didn't make a video of the work I did.
The oil return is below the turbo yes, but didn't appear to be leaking on this car! Definitely poke around with a flashlight and make sure yours are good too 🔦
