  • In this revised video I demonstrate how to properly replace the PCV valves on an N63TU without breaking the expensive internal oil separators.
As an added bonus I also show that you don't need to replace the entire PCV system if you break the tabs that connect the PCV to the inlet, there is a repair kit for the ends available from BMW! Part #11158671570
I also show some of the issues with the GATES PCV kit for the N63TU, while its tempting to buy it because of the cost savings, the GATES kit is a step down in quality as compared to OEM MAHLE. If possible use OEM parts for this job as the Gates kit is visually poor looking and does not install easily. Another option is to upgrade to the S63TU PCV system which I plan on doing shortly as future PCV replacements will be much more affordable.
I am not responsible for any damages you may incur by following the procedures outlined in the video.
    Thanks for watching

Great content love the honest walkthrough and we need more n63tu content on TH-cam I have one myself and I too need to replace these and this is just what I need to see to have enough confidence to tackle this on my own

Good review, I did the intake boots and PCV valve on my S63TU last month. Interesting to see quite a few differences between it and the N63TU. Now I am wondering if I forgot to reconnect MAF sensors. Probably did but now I need to check.

It would likely give you a check engine light but funny enough from what I hear these engines don’t really need MAF to run right because of the valvetronic

@@dariusGarage Well I found out something that I bet a lot of people don't know. If your MAF sensors are not plugged in, the Auto Start/Stop does not work, but for some that might not be a big deal. I just checked it today and both MAF sensors were unplugged, I plugged them in, then the auto start/stop started working again.

@@tomladdus9264 WOW great find Tom! Never knew that! I had a faulty one and the engine ran fine but gave me a CEL, never cared for start stop so I didn’t check that.

@@jerrilynmartinez4253what do you think those valve covers are for? :)

Are you going to make a video about the pcv system underneath the valve cover? I'm currently diagnosing an issue with my M6 for oil burn on decel. New turbos and new flapper valve, but all the valve stems only on bank 2 are all full of soot and oil carbon. Bank 1 is perfectly clean.
Oil cap has a lot of suction and while I have to test it more, I believe that it stops burning oil on idle rev after removing the oil cap. I'm thinking the volume control valve inside the pcv (underneath the valve cover) is bad and letting too much vacuum build up

I am but you’ll probably beat me to it! What pcv flappers are you using? Those volume control valves are hard to find and specific to the M6s S63TU, only company other than the dealer that stocks them online is Schmiedmann in Germany.

At 18:14 you removed the connector after applying a heat gun, when removing that connector how did it come out for you

Carefully squeeze the ribbed sections that are opposite from one another and the sides separate. Then pull it off. Gates makes a replacement if you break it
