  • Seven Harp Ensemble (SHE): Alice Giles Artistic Director, Genevieve Lang, Rowan Phemister, Ester Wong, Ingrid Bauer, Laura Tanata and William Nichols.
SHE is the only harp septet in the world and in addition to performing harp classics, the group are advocates for progressive contemporary works that extend the harmonic, rhythmic and timbral possibilities of the instrument beyond its traditional Romantic repertoire. The group have commissioned many new works by Australian composers including Ross Edwards, Martin Wesley-Smith, Andrew Schultz and Sharon Calcraft which have been recorded by the Tall Poppies label, titled Bolmimerie. SHE has participated in the Canberra International Music Festival, the National Harp Weekend, Canberra Museum for the Multicultural Festival and the 3rd Australian Harp Festival. The ensemble has performed at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing and they also, were the guests of Beijing Television as part of its highly prestigious Spring Festival Global Gala, one of the most-viewed televised events in China.

I’ve always had the strangest affinity for the harp. Soothing and gentile and beautiful. I am in love with this. I had a particularly anxious day today and this really grounded me for some reason. Thank you.

    Out of this world.
    Wonderful
You have to hold your breath to listen to the inaugural tune.
And later ones take your breath away.

Dear Alice Giles and members of SHE, thank you for your beautiful performance of my VENEZOLANA FOR 5 PEDAL HARPS. I feel very honored to have my music included in your concert and also very special for me, as Cuban, to see the marvelous MALAGUEÑA, by Cuban composer Ernesto Lecuona, also beautifully performed right after my piece, to finish your concert. Thank you, thank you all again!!!

This takes me back to 1955 at Cass Tech HS, in Detroit. Our teacher was Velma Froud, a student of Carlos Salzado. We had 10 harps in the classroom, only used 7 in performance, 5 in Harp and Vocal recitals. Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I adore the work of SHE and their heavenly sound capturing so magnificently the flowing beauty of the enigmatic nature of the world elements. My work of art showing the beauty of the glorious harp was inspied by an audition by a harp student at The Curtis Institute of Music.

let me narrate an anecdote about King David, the harp reminds me of King David's worship ,King David was a harpist ,a musical worshiper of the LORD,when he took care of his father's sheep in the fields, he sang songs of praise and worship to the Lord,,a mighty angel of the Lord by the name Fierce ,approched him, he presented a harp to David, which at that time he knew not what it was, Fierce is the King of Kings" delegation, he taught him the concepts of the instrument, after practicing for a while, David's worship became so good that his musical performance could Usher the precense of the almighty before the kings of the world of the time, the holy angels of heaven danced and sang along his music, the presense of God was so present when he played his music that King saul,a king of that time used to call for David to play his harp in order to get rid of torment by the night he was experiencing from the foul spirits tormenting him,(1 Samuel 16:14-23)...music is a gift from the LORD so that we can honor Him and worship Him, satan previously had that musical office(when he was called Lucifer), but he chose to rebel therefore his worship is not legitimate though he has all musical intruments in built in him and can play perfectly better than any human and angel(for the gifts of the LORD are without repentance/irrevocable Romans 11:29)....

Man spürt wie die Töne in meiner Seele eindringen
    Faszinierend, bravo bravo
Beauty begins to bloom in the heart!
I want to live in peace on this beautiful planet!!!
I live in the forest of cold dreams, oh so cruel
against a new morning, I think it's peace
my soul weeps, oh you dark creatures of the night
The truth emerges when reality overtakes it!
It's been a long time It's been a long time
    It's already afternoon
I am sitting with my great love Anna
on a hill not far from my garden
the sun glitters behind the trees
    and a dark cloud hides
deepened in the book Челкаш by Maxim Gorky
it reminds me of the Muzeon Park of Arts in Moscow
    Sculptures are saved moments
That is why some people stop at certain sculptures
with a smiling or thoughtful face
    a smile that enchants
    eyes that shine like stars
Kisses that flow through the body like fire.
I close my eyes and all I see is you!
In my dreams I wander through this garden
Where is the sculpture that helps Mother Russia see?
And I'm screaming out loud, do you want to help me?
or are you already stone statues?
but Anna wakes me up, what's going on
the thunderstorm is approaching we have to go inside
what is an important moment when we both wake up
look us happily in the eye and swear love
and be able to live peacefully in freedom in Ukraine
    I LOVE YOU - Giovanni Marradi th-cam.com/video/vZSlVRN6XKk/w-d-xo.html

Since I was holding my breath until you started, I felt the choice you made was just a shade disappointing? - Being a harp enthusiast and promoter, my expectations of seven harp combinations were short of a sense of essence of suitable compositions? - But my best wishes for you to achieve a better level? Remember Shirley A. who was an Australia who went to Russia & encouraged a host of the (now) great players there?

    • @sea9994
      @sea9994 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Holding your breath I do in intervals of 13. I found the harp and all sting instruments to be lovely due to the accuracy of placement, pressure, alignment and materials used. Example there are diffent grades for materials used for the bow,and the posturing is essential for tonality and if you don't play in synchronicity the sound isn't quite right.
I am no professional musician however I learned thru Russian German English and Chinese teacher's we provided for my child in a former life.
