I am a long distance lorry driver, and after a 12 hour shift, night or day, this is exactly what I need to set me up for a relaxing night or day of sleep. It never fails. I love this music.
I feel India has so much of an advanced culture. This music speaks of it. I recall doing a sound check that took 'forever' while musicians tuned up. For me 2 minutes was 'in tune' but they continued tuning for 10-15 mins into the "Super tune" zone. It seemed spiritually hypnotic. I love this video even more because of that past experience, learning how deep Indian musicians dig. I dig them...
As much as I like to agree with what you're saying, it is a fact that it couldn't be passed down properly and thus faded out. Someone will surely find out the true form of the lost culture.

I have been following Anoushka performances with Pandit Ravi Shankar since she was a child. Anoushka has given her soul to this form of music and at the same time incorporated innovation in her style of playing. Bless you Anoushka. This piece is so melodius, I suggest listening to this on a full moon as I did and went into blissful trance. Divine music from the Indian subcontinent.
RAAG Keeravani. Very close to jazz in its scale and flavour. It's also a favourite choice of most Indian classical musicians wishing to reach out to western ears.
In case anyone is curious, This composition is in Raag Kirwaani. Originally a south Indian Raag, and omitting Madhyam and Nishad, it turns into Raag Leelawati.
Indian culture and classical music has been always appreciated by the Germans, French or Russians... I guess most of the Classical concerts happens outside of India...

You could clearly feel the difference between electronic auto tune music and human instrumental talent. It literally goes to your heart and mind at same time and make them sync to feel the emotion throughout your body. All the instrumentalists are pure gems to be appreciated and recognized worldwide!!!

It is heart breaking that today youngsters are made behind the mechanised remake music in India. People don't even know the sweetness of these instruments. People like Neha K, Tony kakkar, baadshah getting famous is evidence of direction where are future is going.
It turns out that there is much evidence that supports the positive effects of music on one's ability to do math. Most research shows that when children are trained in music at a young age, they tend to improve in their math skills. The surprising thing in this research is not that music as a whole is enhancing math skills. It is certain aspects of music that are affecting mathematics ability in a big way. Studies done mostly in children of young age show that their academic performance increases after a certain period of music education and training. One particular study published in the journal 'Nature' showed that when groups of first graders were given music instruction that emphasized sequential skill development and musical games involving rhythmn and pitch, after six months, the students scored significantly better in math than students in groups that received traditional music instruction.
Alain Guilloux any kind of creative line or work is harder than study. am learning music and instruments from age 4 now 21. still learning. It need much more practice than study :)
Perfectly inherited the legacy from her Father. Thanks to the western world for keeping Classical music alive. Pandit ji has played a big role to preserve it by taking it to west. The Charisma of his sitar will never fade!!

If I recall correctly, it was on Harrison's "Concert for Bangladesh".
