Imagine having hundreds of hours in Sonic Generations, and then when someone says something like "wow, you must really like this game," you just say "nah I just play it for the pinball minigame".
I hated playing sonic generations, i beat the whole game 100% with a solid unmovable frown on my face. But when they added the pinball mini game, i couldn't put the game down at all and still play sonic generations for the pinball game to this day! Its the only game i have on the console. This pinball minigame saved my love for sonic the hedgehog

I got the Generations bundle on PC a few years back, and I was really looking forward to Casino Night Zone. Sucks that it's just a pinball minigame, but it's a cute little edition I guess. At the very least we got Casino Night on 3DS, but it would've been nice to see a modern console version of the stage

The DLC wasn't free when it first came out. I was one of the ones who bought it early before they made it free later. It was $1.59 USD. Certainly not expensive at all, but not free. On an unrelated note, looking through my old Steam purchase history from back then makes me realize how cheap everything was back then compared to these days. We really didn't know how good we were eating back then.
The DLC was less meant to be actual DLC and more just a preorder bonus, which it was used for initially. People kinda still wanted it when they didn't preorder it and so they added it on for like a dollar extra about a month or so after release and that's how we got it now. I don't believe DLC was ever really in any plans for Generations, and Casino Night Pinball was really just the remnants of the preorder bonus extra: Something neat meant to reward you for buying the game but nothing too big that a later buyer would miss out on.
Me personakly, I would add 3ds stages/bosses (excluding Biolizard and Radical Highway). I would add Casino Night, Mushroom Hill-Valley, Emerald Coast, Egg Emperor, Tropical Resort, he'll even the Sonic Heroes Special Stage ( probably as a minigame though.)
I actually really like this minigame, pinball has always been a game I found really interesting Plus, finding the three secret routes to the slot machine is actually really fun to figure out

It's about money. In 2012 Sega had big restructuring with many projects cancelled. Even Sonic Team was hit with it by merging their HD team and SD team into one and spawning Lost World into existence. Which was already rushed - it was initially supposed to have 7 acts per zone (like Colors), Sky Road wasn't supposed to be rehash factory and Lava Mountain was more than 1 stage. Sonic Team simply didn't have manpower for DLC.
Haven't watched the whole video yet but if I'm remembering correctly from when I bought this game at launch this was a preorder bonus. Unfortunately we never got any post launch dlc. edit: Okay you do mention that it came out same day. It also wasn't always free, I distinctly remember having to repurchase it on steam.
The fact Lost World wasn't all Nintendo levels makes me mad. Like if they wanted to make Mario but with Sonic as the protag, they could've just imported a bunch of Mario levels.
I remember when listening to the White Space Medley in the Sonic Generations OST, I heard Casino Night Zone and initially thinking: “Casino Night?! Is that a bonus stage? Is that from 3DS?!” And while half of it was true… it really sucked that the DLC was just one pinball game and its quite honestly the worst DLC in any Modern Sonic game. I’d say Episode Shadow from Forces was worse… but at least THAT was free…
There was no point. They should have added more levels honestly instead. Like Stardust Speedway for classic, Westopolis for Adventure, and say, kingdom valley for modern!
at least the pinball machine was new and free. Sonic Origins DLC is just a bunch of poorly optimized roms and adding knuckles to one game (admitadly this does mean tweeking all the levels to make it knux complient)

Tails and Knuckles are far more drastic in comparison from a gameplay standpoint. The fact that she has a spin jump and can spin dash, unlike her Sonic Advance counterpart, makes her feel samey.

Generations is trash. Unleashed, SA1,Heroes and Sonic and the Black Knight as well as Sonic 2, Sonic 3&Knuckles, and Sonic Colors+Sonic Frontiers are better.

At least episode shadow has 3 levels and it's free Whereas sonic generation dlc is just one pinball mini game take a guess which one has more content.
