As someone who frequently went to Galveston, I knew this but it is helpful information considering that Beryl also hit Jamaica. It might be confusing to have the same name on two places that got hit.
A coworker has a house a minute from there he said actually about totally gone now. The front three were totally destroyed in the last ones on the verge of being totaled. If not by now they need to go.
I'm inland in pecan Grove and the winds came here at 70-80 mph. snapped trees midway and hung up. 2 chainsaws are working. Trees from the park landed on the house my propane tank and the power line✌️
Those houses are literally right on the water so it's going to hit them the worst. They like to show this because it's the worst damage that the hurricane caused
I am a resident along the Texas coast , it was horrible , it was more like a Cat 2 instead of Cat 1 , we are about 20 minutes from where the eyewall hit , my first hurricane experience, we had damage to trees , Thank God our home wasn't damaged and we are alive !
Thank you all for your prayers for us Texas residents!! It is absolutely devastating, so many homes damaged , people without power. Beryl was awful, we had 97 mph winds with higher wind gusts , my first hurricane experience ( moved to Texas in 2023 ) talk about shaking in ya shoes this lady was . I am so blessed my husband and I, our neighbors and friends made it through safely as well as others affected by Beryl . FEMA has been great in the hardest hit areas . Biden isn't sending any Aid relief SMH that's okay we Texans stick together even if some are transplants , it's what Cha do for anyone regardless of where you live .
This is not accurate. The northern Houston area got cat 1 winds with heavy rain. The power is still out here. It looks like a tornado tore through Tomball, cypress, the woodlands, magnolia, ect. The excessive winds of 75mph caused over 2 million power outages, that are still ongoing. We have never had winds this high. This is the piney woods region so you can only imagine the hundreds if not thousands of trees down. They are everywhere. No one out here was spared. Power lines are strewn across our streets and the lines for gas to fill generators are miles long, that is if you can find a store that still has gas. Searched for an all day for ice today with no luck. I consider myself lucky because my home is intact and I was able to borrow a generator to run fans and lights. Say what you will about Texans but most of us are not Christian nationalists. I’m a freaking atheist liberal, so are my many friends and when anyone needs anything I’ll take the shirt off my back for them. That includes everyone ❤
Beryl is not playing games. Be safe family!
Jamaica Beach is part of Galveston if people don't know where that's at.

Wow, you normally don't expect a strong hurricane to make landfall here until September.
The water in the gulf is already really warm. Scary.
The water in the Gulf is already at September levels. They are now predicting 25 named storms & 12 hurricanes, 6 of which being Cat 3 or higher.
Those houses are probably going to be gone by that time.
🙏🙏🙏 Prayers to all who suffered. 🙂↕️
Wow some storm man that one was wild wow

Did the house on high posts have any damage? The roof looks perfect.
Strong storm! Keep safe 🙏
Absolutely Heartbreaking 😢 must of been terrified
Why build there, when you know this is going to happen? How do you get insurance?
Considering this was just a category one hurricane it did a lot of damage.
