The ocean probably thought moana was te fiti and gave it back to her as like'' here you go ms fiti your heart where you going you have your heart '' , Thank you for sharing Ben!
The ’face cuddle’ is actually a hongi which is a traditional Maori greeting in which people press their noses together and therefore ’share their breath’
Here's my theory. Moana and Tala are descendants of Tefiti. They have been waiting for her. Everyone thought that Tala was the chosen one when she was younger.but once Moana is born Tala realize that she was the chosen one and told her about Tefiti her whole life to prepare her for her journey.
This is the most plausible theory I've come across in the comments. There's a Polynesian belief that we are descendants of the gods so it's likely Moana's family descended from Te Fiti.
I think the reason that the ocean didn’t return the heart was because it’s whole goal was to get people to navigate again. The ocean loved when the people were exploring. If the ocean had returned the heart on its own, people would just stay on the island. The ocean chose Moana so that people would dare to cross the reef.
1:02 the "face cuddle" thing is actually called a hongi. This is an important part of Maori culture. It's basically a traditional greeting, similar to a formal handshake. It symbolises the "breath of life" being passed between two people. In Maori mythology, it's said that Tane Mahuta, god of the forests, created the first human by carving her out of clay, and then performing a hongi to breathe life into her (there are slight variations in this story according to different tribes, but this is the version I'm familiar with). I know that Moana doesn't represent only Maori culture, but Polynesia as a whole, but i still feel like this is where they got the concept from. Especially since a lot of writers, cast, and others were from New Zealand (including Taika Waititi, who directed Thor Ragnarok, and also the voice actors for Moana's dad, her grandmother, and Tamatoa). Just thought I should let y'all know!
the ocean would kill te fiti if it returned the heart, thats why it didn't do it. I love that song in the end i always get for real chills and sing along
The #facecuddle is actually a prominent part of Polynesian culture the word for it is commonly known as Hā which means “the breath of life” because two people share a breath, which would also explain how Tefiti changes back because Moana gives her back life
Surprisingly, Maui's parents aren't as big a deal in the original mythology as the movie would have you believe. They're so irrelevant to Maui's story that wikipedia doesn't even bother mentioning them. Basically their only contribution to the original myths is having him and then immediately tossing him into the ocean because he was born prematurely. So long story short, don't think about it too much.
@@cryptidliam8452 Maui is from Maori legends and his parents do exist. There are many story books online that you can read telling the whole story of Maui's life
I think the reason the ocean didn’t return the physical heart itself if because simply, it’s water. Te Ka is lava, the ocean is water, and as we see throughout the film, whenever Te Ka comes into contact with the ocean, it sort of gets put out or hurt. So, if the ocean tried to put the heart back, it would firstly have to get past Te Ka, while trying to to kill her, and put the heart back, right in the centre. That’s why I think the ocean didn’t bring the heart their itself, simply because of the ocean touches the lava monster, it could hurt or kill the island.
Animal Gamer fun lava fact just because the outside is cooled off doesn't mean the inside has too! So it was cool enough to not boil her skin and underlying blood and allow her to place the but not so cool that it's completely cooled inside into solid rock which is what it does almost immediately on contact with enough water, if the ocean had tried to return it I'd be surprised if it didn't completely boil and evaporate before reaching the right place

Yes and a significant portion of the cast and creators are from New Zealand, because it's part of the Pacific Islander region. New Zealand, Samoa, Hawaii, etc, all fall under that same umbrella, and they pulled from all the Islands.
My Class finally got our English teacher to agree to show it during one of our final calsses because my class argued that it's "magical realism" (we really just want to watch Moana.)
Disney is many things but lazy isn't one of them. Lazy doesn't make money. If every character looked the same or too close then people would hate it, plus the characters are always diverse in all the movies. If people look alike there either a reason or they are background characters that don't matter. I'd say the main character amd an actual deity are not background characters. Lol.
Moana: at guys i just saved us Maui: me too Village: oh cool Moana: and we can sail now Maui: He Village: we can sail now Everyone: LOUd SinGING Moana: I AM MOANAAAAAAA There. The movie in a nutshell.
And in Polynesian mythology, Moana is the daughter of Sina and Maui, and her brother has the face of a pig...yep they definitely look alike because of Polynesian blood!!!
The ocean couldn't possibly return the heart because Te Ka cant touch the ocean besides Te Ka needed someone like moana to calm her ass down first before returning the heart because I'm pretty sure Te Ka would've destroyed the heart or hid it somewhere instead of returning it to her own body.
Three Shooting Stars. I said the ocean COULDN'T return the heart. I never said it could or did! Te Ka is the monster Te Fiti becomes when her heart is ripped out. God, did you even watch the movie? Do you even speak English? I'm just answering the question as to why the ocean could not return the heart itself. I'm not making any statements or anything. You have completely misread my comment.
Three shooting stars. I admit, I was missing one capital letter and a period. (And I have added those now.) HOWEVER that does not mean my entire comment is completely incomprehensible and although my punctuation was missing the grammar and spelling are still very correct. And yes okay it's sort of stating the obvious so yes, a statement, but not really because it is even said in the movie that Te Ka can't touch water. I'm kinda just repeating what they said in the movie. BTW if you're so good at English then how the hell did you not understand my comment. Were you acting like an idiot on purpose? Are you trolling? Or are you one of those people who naturally becomes so triggered when she sees a missing period that she's unable to function? Honestly girl. I don't see what your problem is.
Well apparently you do, judging by your previous behaviour .You were acting as if mt comment suddenly became completely unreadable and don't act like you're 'all chill' now cause you obviously weren't 2 comments ago. xD
Has anyone noticed that Moana’s goal was to save her island, she goes on this massive adventure and as soon as they return they abandon the island... I find that a bit backwards.
Her goal was to save her PEOPLE. Her people are not her island, but the island sustains her people. Also. This is loosely based around polynesian peoples Voyaging, suddenly stopping for a prolongued period of time, then beginning again. It’s...also literally referenced in the film.
I think the original poster meant they didn't have good food to eat so she had to save the island but as soon as she made the island grow good food again, they moved somewhere else?
Does anyone else get the Scolding mother vibe from TaFiti when she’s dealing with Maui or is it just me? i kinda wanna see a video on the relationship with Maui and the other Gods because there’s no way TaFiti didn’t know he was on her while she still had the heart and was at full power, so there had to be some form of trust there.
Kevin Turner they’re not afraid they just didn’t want her or anyone else get hurt by the sea. But Cool you know her name translation I never thought of it and it opens more theories
they weren't afraid! they just didn't want to see her get hurt like her father's best friend did! moana is named after the ocean & it was fit for her because she is the chosen one!
You know, like Lilo means lost and Stitch is.. well self explanatory. A lot of Disney character's names have meaning. CInderella, Cinder=dirty. Her name was originally Ella, but her step family added cinder to it when she was cleaning the fireplace(i believe) and had some dirt on her face. these are the only ones i can think of right now, but yeah.
She kept saying her name like that because, she was trying to build her confidence and make him do what she wanted to do by showing force behind who she was.
Hmm... what if... Moana is Te Fiti's daughter and she was washed away from her and she landed on Motonui. Then, Tui and Sira (did I get the names right?) found her and they took care of her.
Ok, forgive me if this was already in there, but “Restore the heart of Te Fiti.” Moana has a strong, loyal, and powerful heart. Using this and Maui’s help(aka restoring her courage and hope), she helps shove that idea of love back in Te Ka/Te Fiti’s head. Is it possible Moana is the heart? Edit: Ok..well two seconds later I hear the exact same thing lol
I have a sneaking suspicion that Moana's grandmother is extremely old. Not only does she have the heart of Te Fiti in her possession, but she also says "I was there that day." Could that just be something inspirational she decided to say to her restless granddaughter, or was she actually there the day Maui stole the heart?
#facecuddle is actually a hongi from maori (native new zealand) culture and it represents a sharing of breath and spiritual connections moana and her grandma also share a hongi before moanas departure
holly spivey kia ora im from new zealand i respect that you know about our culture . You may or may not be Polynesian but you mana will always ve with us
To be honest, most of the females in Moana look very similar. The men have different exaggerated features, but all the women have very similar face shapes and hair styles, and all being Polynesian, they all have the same skin, eye and hair colour as each other. I genuinely thought Moana's mum was Moana in one scene the first time I watched it, until the real Moana entered.
this isn't a big deal or anything, but... saying that the picture of a heart represents moana because moana IS the heart is like saying that the picture of the hook represents maui because maui IS the hook. which is basically the exact opposite to the whole point of his journey.
No because even with that analogy, saying Maui is the hook means it was inside him all along but he was too stubborn/scared to see it. He was looking outward for validity and acceptance until he learned all he had to do was look inside himself.
your "face cuddle" is called a hongi in the maori culture of new zeland its a shared breathe and transfering of light forces between people if you look they both beathe in and thats the sharing of life forces

If every character looked the same or too close then people would hate it, plus the characters are always diverse in all the movies. If people look alike there either a reason or they are background characters that don't matter. I'd say the main character amd an actual deity are not background characters. Lol.
We're sharing the same braincells here-

Wow yep lol

😭😭😭😭😭
Or, stay with me here, it’s because they’re both Polynesian.
Yeah but they don't all look the same
Neither do Moana and Te Fiti. 😒
And in Polynesian mythology, Moana is the daughter of Sina and Maui, and her brother has the face of a pig...yep they definitely look alike because of Polynesian blood!!!
Polynesian women are beautiful. Beautiful women are everywhere!
The ocean couldn't possibly return the heart because Te Ka cant touch the ocean besides Te Ka needed someone like moana to calm her ass down first before returning the heart because I'm pretty sure Te Ka would've destroyed the heart or hid it somewhere instead of returning it to her own body.
Maybe u should have watched it
Sydney Pasztor I did watch it. -_-" Your comment doesn't make much sense.
Well apparently you do, judging by your previous behaviour .You were acting as if mt comment suddenly became completely unreadable and don't act like you're 'all chill' now cause you obviously weren't 2 comments ago. xD
Did anyone notice when they show flowers in the movie they show the glowing flower in Tangled?

Has anyone noticed that Moana’s goal was to save her island, she goes on this massive adventure and as soon as they return they abandon the island... I find that a bit backwards.
I think it’s more about saving the people themselves than it is the island. Like the difference between a house and a home
Her goal was to save her PEOPLE.
Her people are not her island, but the island sustains her people. Also. This is loosely based around polynesian peoples Voyaging, suddenly stopping for a prolongued period of time, then beginning again.
It’s...also literally referenced in the film.
In restoring Te Fiti, she saved her island. The blight was due to whatever was wrong with Te Fiti. :)
By saving Tefiti the island is saved isn't it? Because she lost her heart wasn't that the reason the earth was decaying?
I think the original poster meant they didn't have good food to eat so she had to save the island but as soon as she made the island grow good food again, they moved somewhere else?
My mum tells me I take animated movies too seriously, that's why I watch this channel lol

Does anyone else get the Scolding mother vibe from TaFiti when she’s dealing with Maui or is it just me? i kinda wanna see a video on the relationship with Maui and the other Gods because there’s no way TaFiti didn’t know he was on her while she still had the heart and was at full power, so there had to be some form of trust there.
skelitonking117 te fiti not tafiti it looks like you spelled Tahiti wrong
skelitonking117 yeah
Amagin the size of her belt /shoe. That is a god size beating
I googled the meaning of Moana....did her dad and mom realize she's named after the thing they are afraid of? Ocean
As far as I know in the original legend (the movie is based on a Polynesian legend) her grandmother gives her the name “Moana”
Marelise Brink makes since.
I LOVE the grandma I'm this movie I also think she NEW moana was the heart of tefiti

She kept saying her name like that because, she was trying to build her confidence and make him do what she wanted to do by showing force behind who she was.
I thought Moana carries a part of the essence of Te Fiti

I love how throughout she says "I am Moana of Motunui", but that last one was just, "I am Moana"

Moana is Te Fiti's daughter and she was washed away from her and she landed on Motonui. Then, Tui and Sira (did I get the names right?) found her and they took care of her.
So true!
Holy- That might be why she survived Tamatoa's realm! Didn't Maoui claim mortals would never survive it?

Hey guys... Watch film theory
“And this week on the top 40 we have ONCE AGAIN, ‘Tradition is our Mission’” 😂😂😂😂 idk why but that one got me
Ok, forgive me if this was already in there, but “Restore the heart of Te Fiti.” Moana has a strong, loyal, and powerful heart. Using this and Maui’s help(aka restoring her courage and hope), she helps shove that idea of love back in Te Ka/Te Fiti’s head. Is it possible Moana is the heart?
Edit: Ok..well two seconds later I hear the exact same thing lol
Lol i noticed she looked like Te Fiti the moment i saw it

You need another theory video on Moana.
HOW THE HECK DID THE GRANDMA GET THE HEART IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Do u even holo? gotholo? Moana found it in the ocean as a child.
Then she lost it.
Simply Moose Good question🤔.

#facecuddle is actually a hongi from maori (native new zealand) culture and it represents a sharing of breath and spiritual connections moana and her grandma also share a hongi before moanas departure
holly spivey and in Hawaii it’s the HA of life. Sharing life forces to prove you are friend and family.
YES FINALLY SOMEONE THAT KNOWS! (Im not saying that nobody else knows. This was the first comment i saw saying this)
holly spivey kia ora im from new zealand i respect that you know about our culture . You may or may not be Polynesian but you mana will always ve with us
holly spivey finally! Someone realises that! #NZ
I actually noticed the resemblance but being the only one in my house interested with animations I didn't have who to discuss with but thanks for this
To be honest, most of the females in Moana look very similar.
@@christalcavanaugh exactly.. Also lends it self to the way he helped her find herself.. Just like the island does for many people..
your "face cuddle" is called a hongi in the maori culture of new zeland its a shared breathe and transfering of light forces between people if you look they both beathe in and thats the sharing of life forces
