Okay I the last ones are Pixar and live-action, but still, Disney isn't that bad...

It has been a while since i've clicked on one of your videos, but im absolutely not regretting watching this one. I am a Norwegian and a Sápmi (or Sami like you said) and i was very pleasantly surprised by the amounts of history you have managed to learn in preparations for this video. My great grandparents were children during the percecution and oppression of the Sami people, and they were not allowed to speak the Sápmi language, despite it being their first and only language. If they did, they would get physicaly punished. And they were not taught the Norwegian language. This is one example of samis not getting to live their lifestyle.
Thank you for your accurate presentation of the Sami people and their history. This is a rarety outside of Norway or even areas with a high percentage of Samis. You even taught me something i didn't already know. Great video.

You know my grandma's mother I think is Sami. I have to ask her more about it. But I know my grandma is weird about her Norwegian descent, she usually just says she's Italian (her father is from Italy) and my grandma was raised here in America. But I picked up at a young age not to bring it up because she just insists that she's fully italian because that was what traditions they were raised with. But this made me curious to look into it more. I did once and read about the Sami. Sorry I know this was random lol
@@christinecannibal844 No, that makes total sense, that she didn't want to talk about it. My grandfather wouldn't admit that he was sámi either, because og the erasure of their culture and stigma that remained for many years. Back then you would only speak the language or show signs of your herritage at home with your family, because it was shameful, and in some cases, people, and especially children would get punished for speaking any sort of sámi. The religion was basically wiped out after the state commanded burning of holy equipment and built factories and dams and other infrastructure on their holy areas. Luckily, there is now a political institution that was established to protect and revive parts of sámi culture and to speak their cause to the people in power

It reminds me of what happened here when the English discovered America, they killed off most of the natives, there are not many tribes left, and some are almost gone :(

Josh D. He mentioned it as a possibility but then said he believes the trolls are nice and adopted a genuinely orphaned/lost kid and didn’t kidnap him.
So yes it’s a possibility depending if if you see the trolls as good or not.
If a kids parents are dead they might erase the kids memories of them to try and make them happier.

Apart from orphans, do you know what Disney also massively overuses? Basically all of their Disney Princesses ( officially ) don't have any siblings:
Jasmin, Snow White, Mulan, Aurora, Cinderella (biologically), Pocahontas, Tiana, Belle, Rapunzel and Moana are all siblingless while only Ariel and Merida have siblings
Maybe this is just a causation of parents dying but I've always found it really weird...
Loads more main Disney characters are siblingless if you look into it but I thought that the princesses would be a good example to share

I'm very aware of the fact that there ARE characters with siblings but what I'm saying is there are actually very little when you think about it ( and practically none whose siblings are not pivotal to the story )
While I get that animating siblings for no reason is a waste of time and money if they aren't going to do anything I've just always found it really weird that like 85% of the characters in the Disney world are only children when in real life it's the other way around ( more people have siblings than don't )

What we see is his memory, witch the trolls could have altered. He ran away from his home, started ice harvesting because it looked fun, got captured by the trolls who altered his memory to think he was alone with Sven all along, and his parents memory to never remember having a child

Ben’s explanation of how to make clear ice: “All you had to do was freeze the water in an otherwise insulated container inside of the freezer itself, which caused the water to basically freeze more slowly and evenly, and then, if you pull out that container before it freezes all the way, you're actually going to have a solid block of crystal-clear ice and below it will actually be unfrozen water, which normally would have frozen into, like, this kind of clouded version of ice which would be really hard to separate from the ice after the fact.... And that's it!”

This was fascinating. I didn't know about the Sami people. I fell down into a Sami rabbit hole and found out Joni Mitchell and Renee Zellweger are descendants of Sami-Norwegian immigrants.
Idea: Missionaries stuck him in an orphanage to “raise him properly”, but he kept leaving because of his hatred for those running the orphanage/ need to see Sven/ possible to try and find his family again. When the orphanage grew tired of his antics, they contracted him out to the ice carvers for profit and hopefully some discipline. Then the trolls decide he’s his, without checking his parental status, and because Kristoff’s life is better with the trolll, he completely abandons the orphanage (although it was likely they kept any wages he earned I’ve harvesting until some point he was considered an adult/he fought whoever was distributing the wages).
Katharine Housewright I like that whole theory. Accept maybe the trolls kidnapped him (even though he was ok with it) and they raised him as a way to get to the throne of Arendel. They were pretty anxious to marry him to Anna... Maybe for bigger reasons than just wanting their human to marry a nice girl. For frozen 2 I want to see more about the sani people and Kristofs childhood (preferably the upbringing that you described) and also maybe some fallout with the trolls. Maybe Kristofs will be the one to run away this time and the sisters have to find him. He could leave the kingdom because he realizes he has a family and Elsa and Anna can help him. Wow I wrote a small essay but isn't theory-ing fun!

Thank you for mentioning the troll myth! I was freaked out as a child, as my god sister used to tell me that if I didn’t behave, the trolls would hunt me down and take me away............. It was safe to say that from the ages of 2-6, I was terrified mostly of rocks and trees.....
Disney+ should start an Anna, Cristoff, Sven adventure show where they find his parents. And they can run into Elsa from time to time on her elemental journey.
He could've been an orphan since he was a baby then he wouldn't have remembered being with his parents. And he meant when he said "when I was a kid it was just me a Sven" he meant Sven was his only family.

So now that we know there is a frozen 2 and a “hidden land” they are going to and has lots of deer live Sven, I think that Sven and Kristoff are actually from that hidden world and when it got closed Kristoff was the only one on the other side and to keep it not so hard for Kristoff the trolls erased his memory, so I think when frozen 2 Kristoff might in fact reunite with his family and the little blonde boy might be his little brother

I would like to talk about an older movie in my comment, one of the most classic and recognizable Disney movies of all time.
The Lion King.
What may I be talking about? The true hero of the film.
Oh but Francis, that was Simba he defeated Scar.
No.
The true hero of the film is none other than.....
Nala.
From the beginning we see Nala as an adventurous, courageous, clever character. She is immediately willing to follow Simba to the graveyard, even more so when she knows what it is.
When Simba leaves, we see her completely heartbroken. Think of how terrified she must have been when Scar brought in the exact hyenas (Shenzie Bonsai and Ed) that had tried to kill her and Simba just days before. But she didn't run away as we see, she stood through it.
A while later, when she is full grown, out of her bravery and willingness to protect her pride, she goes far out over the savanna and desert to a jungle just to find food. She never gave up. When Simba attacked her, her reflexes kicked in immediately and she fought back in an instant, showing no fear. She pins him to the ground quickly, ready to kill to get a single scrap of food, until Simba recognizes her.
After a little bit she tells Simba about what's happening at the pride. She tries her best to get him to go back. Of course he doesn't want to and storms off. He later says that maybe she was right, proving her to be a large influence that leads to him going back. Think of if Nala hadn't come to change his mind.
At the pride, when Scar attacks Simba, she leads the lionesses to save him and help fight off Scar. If it weren't for her bravery, Simba would've been killed.
So, in conclusion, Nala is a brave and courageous, loyal character. If it weren't for her, Simba would never have been convinced to go back and even could've died. Also, if it weren't for that, the pride would've died from starvation. I know what you're thinking. Francis, what about Rafiki leading Simba to Mufasa? Remember, Simba would never have run off and thought about it enough to find and follow Rafiki.
So, what do you think? Is Nala the true hero?

Awesome theory! I was so happy when you mentioned the troll changelings, but when the Sami came up, I was nodding for the entire video! I've spent quite a bit of time with the Sami in Finland and it's a truly beautiful culture. The level of oppression they went through is terrible, but unfortunately it's a similar story with many indigenous peoples.
I always tought he was abducted by the trolls (I knew the story of the changeling children) and just because he says that "it was just him and Sven" doesen't prove anything, since we know the trolls have the hability to alter memories. I know the trolls seem nice, and I think the trolls consider themselves to be good, but they're NOT human, and we can't expect them to have the same values as us, and their idea of right and wrong doesen't have to fit ours.

Honestly, they don't really remind me of these stories though. First and foremost because changeling children are from the fay...
Or the fact that the fay are actually really damn tricky and not too really known for being nice.... not to forget changeling children are placed when an actual child is abducted FROM parents.
Goji the stories of the fey are celtic in origin, while legends of trolls come from scandinavia, they don't match perfectly, but they are very similar, so you could say they are different names for the same type of creature. And I know the trolls didn't leave a changeling child in stead of Kristoff (as far as we know) but I didnt knew how else to name those stories. (And yes, what we see is not an exact match to the legends. But I still belive it's based on them)

Does anyone realize Reindeers only live 10 years so in theory Kristoff can only be 18 when he saves Anna if Sven is the same reindeer from when he was a kid... and Sven would also die around that time assuming he even lives the full ten years. What if Sven was Kristoffs Imaginary friend THE WHOLE TIME to get through the tough times that he experienced as a kid??!!
Wait, Kristoff was 8 when he first was with Sven, and in frozen 2 Kristoff is 24, making Sven at least 16 years old. But reindeers typically don’t live over 10 years. So Sven is a very old reindeer who should technically have died around 6 years ago...
Maybe when the indigenous left, Kristoff was with the men and when he went back home, he couldn’t find them. Then he does what he does in the movie where he follows Elsa, Anna, and their parents.
He isn’t acknowledged, he has his own sleigh and he doesn’t know the words to a song- This is why we love the videos other than the amazing theories

Well, that would be nice and all, but the mist prevented everyone from entering or exitting. And it happened 32 years before frozen 2, when Kristoff wasn't even born yet. In order for that to happen, his parents (or just his mom works too, I guess) will have to be outside the forest when the conflict with Arendelle happened, which they have no reason to, since it was the Arendellians who visited the forest instead of the other way around. It'll be a bit far of a stretch in my opinion. It's a really interesting theory, though.

This blew my mind!! I really hope Frozen 2 focuses on kristof's Origin and his people. Like I would be happy if frozen two completely revolves around Kristof. Maybe there could be an evil trolls storyline and we get to see the truth about his adoption. M I the only one who wants that?

I think Kristoff is northuldra. The mist may have let him out in their grand scheme of things, probably to find Elsa but he forgot or the trolls wiped his memory at that point because they knew Elsa was the king's daughter 🤷♀️
Never really thought about how his parents were not in the movie when i saw it in the theaters i was going on four so that was not my main focus but now that i am older it actually think about it more

I do actually like the idea of Kristoff being a changeling though. I always thought that was an interesting theory.

Think about it, he saw Anna being brought back from near death, there is no way they'd let him go back to the outside world. But I noticed a few other things. People held captive by trolls come back much dumber. He has to be reminded how to shower and doesn't realize the reindeer he's had since childhood is trying to warn him Olaf is in danger. You'd think having that reindeer around, he'd know when it'd try to warn him about danger... And his distrust of people. Sounds like some heavy programming. It does make me think they wanted him as their patsy to get in with the royal family and that they did something to Hans...

Love this video and explanation so much! I heard a bit of how the Sami's people's song was in the intro, but tying it to Kristoff (the fact that he's canonically Sami is so clever and interesting) is so fascinating! I'm of the opinion that the answer to his parentage is all the above - he is a Sami and his parents were punished by cultural genocide by missionaries, and they may have been separated from him or killed as a result. It may not have been Arrendale's missionaries, and he maybe wondered close to Arrendale and they took him in. I figured he had just been an orphaned Arrendale citizen and the men loosely watched over him as they vaguely taught him the trade, but I had always been bothered why they were cool with not tying him to their larger sled in their own sled as they used large horses that could easily outpace Sven - they were oddly ambivalent to his safety, and him being some cultural outsider can help explain why. The Trolls then just took him (they would have taken him anyway) and cut away any memory or bond he may have had within the Arrendale village to keep him as a changeling. I think their gift to him was to understand at least Sven, but since Kristoff has been talking to Sven and treating him as if he understood him as well as another human the whole time as children are wont to do, he didn't really notice.
