I noticed w Cantu the shea butter leave in conditioner basically like…sits on my hair meanwhile the argan oil one actually gets sucked in and leaves my hair so moisturized. Combine that with the coconut curl cream and the garnier curl construct moose w Doo gro leave in conditioner and oil has been leaving my hair moisturizer for so much longer and I noticed my curl texture has been lasting longer. For conditioning and shampooing I use Garnier’s whole blend honey. For deep conditioning I use Doo Gro Mega Strong/Thick whatever tf it’s called.
So far these are the only things that have actually worked with my hair without fail. I tried ditching them once I joined the natural hair movement but everything else was basically leaving my hair dry, crunchy, or not as defined/moisturized. I Found your videos where you advocate just doing what works best for your own hair texture and it helped immensely to “deprogram”. Thank you!

I dont use oil much either due to dandruff and yeast, thats why I value your product reviews. Hardwater makes dandruff/yeast worse. Filters remove big mineral particles but they dont soften water. A water softener can cost 1-4,000$ but worth it if you own your own home. I actually wash my hair with distilled water brands like Refreshe, Nestle, or Arrowhead. Costs me about $15 a month (5 gallons) and only 1 gallon a week if I dont do a deep treatment. Gotta be picky about certain distilled brands because some arent filtered enough. (TMI Distilled is also great for those struggling with yeast infections but its only efficient if you use it after you full body shower)
My distilled routine is to pour a gallon into a big pot. Only takes like 5 min to warm up. Then i pour the warm water into a bucket. I spray my hair and shampoo it over the bathroom sink. Then I step into the shower an use a perineal bottle to squeeze water on each section to rinse it out. Then I put on a shower cap and shower like normal. If I do a deep treatment, it takes 2 gallons of distilled water. Definitely worth it cause its waaayyyyy easier to detangle and my hair has more body. IF a person has kids I can understand that its a more expensive commitment at that point. (Bottled "purified" water is not as filtered and softened as Distilled so its not a valuable replacement)
Anyway, if youre a washngo natural, minimal oil use makes a washngo less frizzy and last longer. I only like thick conditioners as a deep treatment rinse out. Otherwise my scalp will itch and start flaking if its a thick butter based leave in conditioner. Oregano, clove, tea tree oil diluted with olive oil, can be a good counter for that type of stuff too since they combat yeast. My scalp is fine as long as I stick with water based light to moderate conditioners, nothing that I have to scoop out.

Speaking of enjoying products most others probably don't, I...have been enjoying Suave's keratin duo pack for shampoo and conditioner, lol. The bottles are huge at 32oz and was $8 for the bundle. I will be very sad if/when Walmart no longer has it. I've tried shampoos and conditioners that have cost more and haven't truly felt a difference. I'm also very lazy with my hair, so I don't want to spend a lot on products if I'm not truly going to keep up with a regimen.
I do feel my hair is moisturized more with the keratin shampoo and conditioner and then I just blow dry and flat iron my hair with whatever leave-in I have (my mom and a friend of hers unloaded a lot of their unused products on me, so I've just been making my way through those 😅), a spray heat protectant and shea butter, which everything I've been able to find says it too is a heat protectant. Only reason I personally can't 100% confirm this from my own experiences is that I have a lot of breakage from not having a proper trim in nearly a decade (just at home trims that haven't been thorough) and my laziness, like not wrapping my hair at night. But it's not made things worse and even with the breakage, it is growing out from my trims, so...I'll probably keep up with this bare-bones regimen for now.

However, what was surprising to this observer, was the lack of black-haired heads of hair, or the dark hair shaded, current marketing trends dictate, the light-colored shades of hair, the once rare blonds has given way to the dark shades of hair, now the new normal.
