What a great video of our new DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition, thanks so much, very informativ! Could listen to you all day 🙌 Greetings from Germany, Patricia
@@salemkhamis6788 im kind of in the same boat, love the build and sturdiness of the Pro X's but I also love how light the 650's are, I'm planning on an upgrade so I don't know if I should follow the Beyer path (the 1990's probably) or the Sennys path (the 800S) I know, price difference and all but still.
@@salemkhamis6788are you literally asking Beyerdynamic whether a Sennheiser or Beyerdynamic is better for gaming? That's like asking Ferrari whether you'd have more fun in a Ferrari or a Lamborghini
I have original 770 Pro 80, and bought this 770 Pro X. For me Pro X is the clear winner with its less fatiguing high-mids peak and tighter bass response!
770 Pro was my first decent pair, it's an absolute legend. I recommended it to a ton of friend who still rock it to this day. This release with removeable cable is the icing on the cake, I used to manually add this port in the past.
Mine is the Philips Fidelio X2HR paired with a Soundblaster G3. I still have it and have exactly 1 day to return these. Actually I only a have a couple of hours. What you think? Should I "upgrade"?! Any recommendation to the X2HR? I like these a lot. bassy and tons of fun. Even crazier with the EQ in the amp. It's all a budget target, got these x2hr under a hundred and the dac just for thirty. One thing I do not particularly understand is the open back perks, I don't seem to notice significant differences between open and closed back.
I've been enjoying my DT 1990 Pros for almost 4 years now and the only issues I've had are that the service kit cable (that connects the drivers together) has finally shorted out. However, I've got a cable replacement on the way and it's a very simple fix that you can do by yourself without having to do any soldering. The only reason the cable is even shorted is due to one of my pets getting caught under my desk, snagging the cable and yanking my headphones off my head onto the floor abruptly a couple of times. I expect to keep using these cans for at least another decade without having to service them much if at all.
I'm probably 3 pairs deep into DT 770 Pro's over the last decade. They are just synonymous with headphones at this point. They are reliable, repairable and sound great. They are the 'old faithful'. Needless to say, as soon as I watched your video I picked a pair up, happy to support a good product!
Does the quality of the materials used appear comparable to older versions of the DT770s? The limited were my first headphone purchase and I'm curious if the quality of materials/build has been cheapened over time. They are awesome headphones either way!
I've just recently discovered the 770, after trying the MDR 7506. We're so lucky that one of the most popular, durable and repairable 'buy it for life' headphones also happens to be genuinely one of the best sounding headphones you can buy. I was down the audiophile rabbit hole way too long and these have thankfully dragged me out of it
I was going to wait for these, but wound up with the 900 Pro X's as they work better for my home situation. Can confirm the top of the band starts exerting some pressure at the 3 hour mark, but overall I'm happy with them. They've been REALLY solid for Grey Zone in terms of footsteps, too.
Was just looking at upgrading my live headsets for bass guitar at my church. My AT’s are getting a little tired and this model seems to handle all of my objections. Could not have come at a better time, always the G O A T 🙌
Just picked them up for a late graduation/Christmas present and they are insane! Can’t wait to try them at church and with my bass at home, and surprisingly can run them from my iPhone with plenty of volume
This model is quite popular among modders, perhaps your local audio community may know a person who can offer you detach mod, even changing cable color
I have the 770 and 1770 and love them. Closed back just does it for me and I changed the earpads out with some dekoni ones to get the profile I wanted. Worth keeping in mind that changing pads could be a game changer and even going from one velour to another could have a pretty big impact on sound plus comfort.
You're still liking them? I'm torn between the standard model or these. The detachable cable's handy but I'm more interested in whether the sound difference is worth the extra money
@@TheHulksMistress I do still like them a lot, but I never owned the standard model so can't speak to the differences. At least for me the sound signature is great all around, and I find them to be quite comfortable, even if they can get a bit warm
I'm actually running the DT 990 Pros with 250OHM for my music production and they are a solid choice! I plan on buying the DT 770 Pro X LE's because I hear they are slightly better than the 990 Pro's. As for production I tend to produce tons of EDM such as Trance, Dubstep, and Progressive House, so lots of bass heavy music. Someone had recommended me the Audio Technicas over the DT 990's, but nah. The velour ear muffs feel amazing and they don't warm up your ear to the point you are sweating, and with a quiet place and having them as open-back headphones, they are amazing for mixing and mastering.
I wish there was a wider market for closed backs tbh. I just can't do open backs but a lot of the good closed backs are higher price points and usually require something more to drive.
as far as I'm seeing it, the Fiio JT1S seems like the current top budget closed back, and if you have more cash you can go up to the Audeze Maxwell for better sound and lossless wireless connectivity. I'd say that covers the 2 price ranges most people are interested in.
Sony M1ST On that not there's always a large number of closed backs simed at audio production and monitoring since they don't want bleed into the mic's.
@@houssamalucad753 All bluetooth codecs are lossy, so you won't be able to get full lossless quality, but having a lossless source will give you better quality because lossy to lossy transcoding inherently degrades quality.
idk why i'm here but i'm listening to this on my dt 770 pros. loved em for 5+ years, can attest to the build quality on these, they've been to hell and back but still sound amazing.
Just picked these up today, but will be returning them tomorrow. Extremely fatiguing highs that caused me discomfort after about 15 minutes of medium volume listening. The comfort was amazing on my head, they fit like a glove and I'm a big fan of the velour pads. Tried playing with an EQ to smooth them out, but they're just not for me. Onto the next!
Good to see this video come out. I picked up a pair to check out the new drivers with the classic teddy bear hug fitment. Had sold off or given away previous models due to noticing the sibilance.
@@idfcdean You can easily just plug and play but they benefit from having more power like most headphones. I use mine with a small dongle dac/amp that drives my IEM's. So they don't need much power. Directly out of my Macbook Pro they are loud at 70-80% so they have some headroom even off a source.
Interesting. My DT 900 Pro X's broke like three weeks ago, the headband finally truly gave out, so I've been meaning to get a replacement. I'm fully interested to see what these can bring. Thanks for the vid.
Two things... If I needed to replace my 770 Pro, I would grab these without hesitation based on your review. Heck, it was your review that turned me onto the 770 Pros in the first place. ;) The second thing, however, is that BD has stopped selling the replacement headband cushions that fit these. I know because the "leather" recently started peeling off in one spot on mine and the only available replacements were from 3rd party suppliers, and they're the exact same or poorer "quality" than the original. I recommend, and am currently using, a removable/washable cover that goes over the headband cushion to keep it from flaking/peeling away. Thanks for the killer review as always!
Dekoni has a replacement headband cover an they're usually decently regarded, Otherwise maybe see if you can get the pro x's to go on your older model.
@@profosist Thanks for the heads-up. The cushion itself still works and feels great, it's just that outer material that's failing, but when the cushion gives out I'll know what to look at. :D

Nice, these might be something for me. I'm liking EDM with low bass. Love to watch all those concerts on TH-cam like Tomorrowland and Luminosity but also all kinds of metal. Budget 200-400 euro. I like the optional cable with built in DAC also with either usb-c or lightning connector. Coming from Sennheiser HD25 and a pair of green old Razer headphones.
Brian please try the Aune AR5000. Banger for the price. Also please throw headphones on a scale. Weight claims from manufacturers are often off and weight is always the first thing I check for. Keep up the great work.
I gave them a try and my thought is, get DT700 Pro X if you want the flat frequency response. Or get DT770 Pro X LE if you prefer a little more V shaped frequency response..
I wish I had a reason to replace my DT770 80ohms cause I really like what I've been hearing about those new Limited Edition ones. I wonder if they perform well enough if they will lose the "Limited Edition" name and just become a normal model.
its risky... what if they're sold out? I currently have DT990 pro (250), DT880 (600) and HD650 and now i'm in need a closed back beyer to complete the collection , i'll be grabbing both for now DT770 80ohm and DT770 Pro x (48ohm) and do the comparision myself then return one or keep both and even get the DT770 25ohm for comparing (going to run it with Ifi zen dac 3 same as the reviewer and THX Onyx when out & about).
Doubting I'll get a reply, but currently looking at replacing my (SteelSeries 9x) after a plethora of issues to the point where they decided to brick. But alas I'll get to the point. I am stuck deciding between the (DT770 Pro X) and the (DT990 Pro Black Edition 80 ohm) what would your advice be. Never had open backs before and really want to try them but worried that the 770s will be better quality than the 990s. Also I'm in the UK so have to get them from polar and looking to pair then with the Schiit Fulla 3e. But I know I want to go with Beyerdynamic for my new headphones. Ps love the content mate.
How would you compare these to the DT 900 Pro X? I know that open back and closed back are completely different, but if someone was trying to choose between those two, which would you recommend?
hi, audio nerd here, honestly i wouldnt recommend either but if you really wanted them and struggled to choose id suggest picking off your environment if you're in your room and its quiet and that's all you're really into then the open backs as 9/10 times an open back would be better and its true in this case as well however if you're also going to use them outside in louder environments then probably the 700 for the isolation
Headband and pads are better on the 770 imho, but open-back is always the better choice if isolation isn't a problem. The 900 Pro X isn'T a good headphone for music though, because the new drivers are fairly dull because of too much front dampening.
Would these be a good upgrade from my current Bose QC45 that I've had for a couple years? I love bass and the bass in the Bose. I use headphones for watching TH-cam, playing games, and listening to music. Would the DT 770 Pro X be a good option for my use case? Also would it be better than the Sennheiser HD 620S for my uses?
Thanks for this great video. I just received my DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition (closed headphones) but I get a problem: they have no isolation. I can listen quite loud the music from outside, which is really bad for recording my voice. Do you think there is something i'm missing from the setup? Or the product is wrong? I suppose it's not normal for them to have no isolation.... Thanks!
How do these compare to the Tygr 300r for gaming? i've had the 770 880 and 990 in the past and now use the 300r, just curious.i liked the original 770👍
I just bought this headset. Does anyone have some advice on which dac/amp I should buy to make them sound great. For reference i will mostly use them for gaming. Thanks in advance
Hey Badseed. I got these exact headphones, will getting the DT 1770 be a noticeable upgrade to these? I have an amp by the way and have no issue driving high ohm headphones.
Hey B, Would you recommend the DT 770 Pro X over the DT 900 Pro X? Mainly wondering since I’ve heard that 900 Pro X is pretty closed for an open back. I have the Maxwells but looking to eventually have a separate mic and headphone setup.
how this thing compared against the maxwell? i think that beyerdynamic's headphones do last longer especially considering maxwell is using planar magnetic (more fragile), but I need those convenience about the built-in microphone and wireless connectivity. what do your thoughts about these? especially comparing those two interms of their sound quality?
I already have TYGR 300 R for casual music listening and single player gaming. Is DT 770 PRO X LE a step up? Should I get them for casual music listening?
@@badseedtech Thank you for responding. There are so many headphones out there that it's difficult (at least for me) to get a grasp on what's better than what.
@@badseedtechwhat would be an equivalent closed back to the Maxwell but wired? Not big on gaming headsets but having tried the Maxwells, they were very good so just wondering.
What would you recommend for movies and gaming (adventure)? I was looking into DT900 Pro X but I need sound isolation so am looking at 700 Pro X. But now I'm wondering about the 770 Pro X... what do you think? (Also I prefer bigger pads and less clamping force) Edit: I think you answered my question at the end.
Very curious to see if they make a 990 pro x limited as well. Very happy with the 900 pro x but certain things like the headband notch would be appreciated.
Love mine so far except for me (as an average - small sized woman) on the smallest setting they still are too large. I purchased a cover and it helps a bit but I just needed another inch or so adjustment to fit well. Everything else is great with them and they take EQ well if that's your thing.
That is what I did. I love my 560S, but during summer months I have an AC unit sitting right behind me and was tired of the noise. These DT 770 Pro X do really well with isolating the noise. They have great imaging as well so I can pinpoint enemies in CS2 very easily. I still think the 560S are better in terms of soundstage, but these 770 are exactly what I was looking for.
I bet my local audio service could offer me detached mod with a lower price :) My main concern is probably if this model finally solves the rare but quite infamous left channel issue?
I guess I'm sticking to my old 80ohms 770 pros, bought them not too long ago after my nova 7 broke again so I was in desperate need of a new pair and couldn't wait for this new one ;/
I got them but they are uncomfortable on my ears after a bit, i've tried adjusting it but i can't get it to work. Any other recommendation for closed back? I can't do open back in my college dorm in good faith with a roommate.
I have the Meze 99 classics and I love them, but I always wanted some Beyerdynamic and these bought me, now I use both and for the 99 user DT770 LE the bass is nice and balanced compared to the Meze. :D

@@Queen_K_Rool What would you recommend that's in the $200-$400 price range?
@@Queen_K_Rool what closed-back headphone would you recommend for around $250-300?
What happen to all the custom keyboard reviews? So many good one out
Audeze sells a mini balance connector mic that would probably work with these too
Only a 3 pin, thus can't be balanced, need 4 for that.
So when are 990 pro x's coming?
Now please replicate these with the DT 990s Bayer 🙏
Great review!! How do these compare to the DT 990 Pro?
Yeah, but is the slider mechanism still trash though?
Are these actually available only for a limited time or is that just the naming?
I wonder if they will continue to make them or if it is just for a year to mark their anniversary
I really dont know what to pick, dt700 or 770 pro x. For enjoying music. Please help😅
Can't wait to see you're acezone aspire review
Have you tried the fiio jt1
So... are the parts the same than the ones from the 770 Pro ? in case they get dagamed :)
Thanks!
Are they suitable for people with big ears?
How do these compare to the Tygr 300r for gaming? i've had the 770 880 and 990 in the past and now use the 300r, just curious.i liked the original 770👍
Nice! Can't wait for them to the same with the TYGR 300R! Only reason I don't get those headphones.
do you recommend using spatial sound when playing CoD? like windows sonic?
I just bought this headset. Does anyone have some advice on which dac/amp I should buy to make them sound great. For reference i will mostly use them for gaming. Thanks in advance
What about for watching anime or movies? How do these stack up?
Hey Badseed. I got these exact headphones, will getting the DT 1770 be a noticeable upgrade to these? I have an amp by the way and have no issue driving high ohm headphones.
i hope they make a limited 1990 😅
I recently got my 990s pros, love them! now 770s pro x? I’m so fucking excited for mines to come in dude
Hey B,
Would you recommend the DT 770 Pro X over the DT 900 Pro X?
I just want something like the nova pro wireless but premium. The batteries being swappable is a game changer
How do these stack up compared to the Audeze Maxwell?
Use these if you want to develop tinnitus 🙏
is there a specific eq software that you use for gaming?
do you need a mixer for them or can just plug and play in to a pc?
The Limited Edition you can just plug right in and go. Nothing else needed.
@@badseedtech thanks you for replying much love brother keep up the amazing videos 👍🏽
@@badseedtech Is there a PC external DAC you would recommend to use with these?
what's the game at 4:38?
Resident evil 8
These or the audeze maxwells?
Oh, Maxwell for sure. Hands down, no question.
@@badseedtechmaxwells over astro a50X?
Wait what? $170 for the headphone (none limited edition) but the ear pad is $195 to replace??
Would the dt 770 pro x se beat my audeze maxwell? Thanks
What would you recommend for movies and gaming (adventure)? I was looking into DT900 Pro X but I need sound isolation so am looking at 700 Pro X. But now I'm wondering about the 770 Pro X... what do you think? (Also I prefer bigger pads and less clamping force)
Edit: I think you answered my question at the end.
hey, beside hearing music, i also play games like Valorant and Apex Legends. Are these performing well in Gaming?
Very curious to see if they make a 990 pro x limited as well. Very happy with the 900 pro x but certain things like the headband notch would be appreciated.
No, 770 pro X only
0:31 Why the fuck does the Ear Pad Set costs more than the headphones?
Love mine so far except for me (as an average - small sized woman) on the smallest setting they still are too large. I purchased a cover and it helps a bit but I just needed another inch or so adjustment to fit well. Everything else is great with them and they take EQ well if that's your thing.
Think I might get these to replace my HD 560S...
I bet my local audio service could offer me detached mod with a lower price :)
My main concern is probably if this model finally solves the rare but quite infamous left channel issue?
ive watched tons of your stuff and just realized I haven't been subbed. shame on me. officially subbed now tho!
Can you please try the new gateron jade switches on the wooting🙏🙏
I guess I'm sticking to my old 80ohms 770 pros, bought them not too long ago after my nova 7 broke again so I was in desperate need of a new pair and couldn't wait for this new one ;/
I got them but they are uncomfortable on my ears after a bit, i've tried adjusting it but i can't get it to work. Any other recommendation for closed back? I can't do open back in my college dorm in good faith with a roommate.
I really cant decide whether to get these or to go with the maxwell? Can anyone help? 😅
How do you think this headset go with CS? Regarding steps
I have the Meze 99 classics and I love them, but I always wanted some Beyerdynamic and these bought me, now I use both and for the 99 user DT770 LE the bass is nice and balanced compared to the Meze. :D
