      Not likely.
      Will be lucky to get 5more years , but Steph could give Us another decade with His style , it’s unstoppable, He can drop it from anywhere on the court , which opens up the lanes for Him and He’s always in exceptions shape
      ( cough Zion … cough cough )

      If you've ever had to guard someone who's hot as your primary defender or have gotten hot yourself before on a basketball court, you would understand. It is terrifying for a defender when you realize there is nothing you can do to stop this guy but to foul him and liberating as a scorer when you realize you're so hot all you need to do is see the rim and just toss it up and it will go in. Most times it takes a demonstration before both players get to that point, you have to prove it but with Steph he's been doing this for over a decade and everyone knows it. I bet guarding him gives people actual nightmares

    Always found it baffling how under-utilised the three pointer has been up until recent seasons. Common sense would dictate that they should be attempted far more than they have been historically. Curry is a genuine game changer who, more than anyone else, has had a big hand in transforming the way the game is played. Amazing, as are these videos.

    • @circumventreality3770
      @circumventreality3770 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      could say the same about going for it on 4th down in the NFL and arguably the 2 pt conversion iirc. Riskier as always but the net effect is powerful.

    • @KagedStorm
      @KagedStorm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Tbf the 3-pt was added in '79 in the NBA, and wasn't adopted by college basketball until '86. Most coaches during those times thought the 3-pt line was gimmicky and wasn't worth trying to make players who didn't normally shoot that far ever go for longer shots. New rules and mechanics can take a while to truly integrate into a game, especially in long-standing traditional sports where generally the game as a whole doesn't change too much after certain breakthroughs. You can really say that around Ray and Kobe's generation of players were the among the first to grow up with the 3-pt line being a constant part of the game so they learned the game around it. So naturally the more generations of players that come in with that rule being a constant, the more they learn that rule or mechanic with the game itself as a whole.

      His off ball movement wouldn’t be exactly a useful skill without his shooting, he isn’t exactly tall or athletic so cutting to the rim would only be occasionally useful, his 3 point shot makes his off ball movement elite, if it weren’t for his shoot it would only be a quirk or gimmick, because without his shooting he wouldn’t get as much defensive attention so him moving off ball wouldn’t exactly be a problem for the enemy team.

In those seasons he averaged 9-10 AST actually. No... sorry
      Klay is a different beast, the only reason they call him the second best is well... not the only reason, here are a couple of reasons:
      Klay is a world class defender, able to defend 1-5 if 7ft or under
      Klay is an accurate and intelligent shooter, meaning he takes shots mainly when hes open, and he sinks them because hes great at it.
      Klay can shoot pull ups or spot ups contested with defenders closing out or in his face... but he often doesnt have to
      Klay can do this because curry at all times ONball draws the attention (eyes) of 4 defenders, OFFball atleast 2 defenders and even draws double or triple teams actively defending him.
      Klay can do this because he has been teammates with 2 elite passers/playmakers for over 10 years
      Klay is also an inside scorer, not as crafty or quick as curry or kyrie and other smaller players, but a stronger slightly slower player that can finish with his vertical or shoot the 2 efficiently, pull up or fade.

    Its quiet sad that one day we'll be the old head that will tell the future generation how impressive Curry feat was in his era, compared to the "future era" where players will drop 15 3s with ease.

      It's the same as the people that talk about how Wilt played plumbers and all the players nowadays have his athleticism. But that's why Wilt was great. He had athleticism of players from this era but played in the 60s-70s. I don't think people understand that.

    Steph makes insane shots just messing around in the middle of games. It’s beautiful and mind boggling. And it’s obvious that his play style is one of the few that allows for longevity in the game. By focusing on a skill based play style he has eschewed the downfalls that so many other dominant players encounter when they rely solely on their physicality.
